  • In today's video, I’m excited to share the process of painting an abstract seascape with a stunning golden horizon. This beautiful color combination of blue with gold always works out great! The colors I’ve used are: Titanium White, Yellow Ochre, Phtalo Blue, Burnt Umber and a speck of Cadmium Red. The gold paint is Amsterdam Standard Light Gold (nr 802)
Throughout the video, I'll also provide the color mixing formulas on screen for you to follow along.
As always, I started by preparing the sketchbook page with a layer of gesso and sealing the edges with tape to ensure clean lines around the painting. Once the base was ready, I mixed the colors.
I hope you enjoy watching the transformation from a blank page to a vibrant abstract seascape.

Thank you, I'm glad to hear that! I aim to keep the videos short while providing enough information for everyone to follow along. Adding many layers makes the painting more interesting and dynamic, and I'm still exploring the best way to showcase this process. Thanks for watching!

Thank you so much, I'm glad you like it! Acrylic paint is an easy medium to work with, allowing you to add as many layers as you want. Using a harmonious color palette like this one, with colors that blend well together, always produces a beautiful result. In this painting, I used blue, blue-green, and yellow ochre, which form an analogous color scheme. These colors are next to each other on the color wheel and always work well together, just like yellow, orange, and red, or any other three neighboring colors.
To calm the colors and create depth, I often add a layer of one color mixed with glazing medium, making it transparent so the underlying colors are still slightly visible. Thanks for watching, and good luck with your painting!

I have to add something to this. With any color scheme, it's nice to add contrast with very dark and very light colors, like black and white, or in this case, brown and white. However, this is not necessarily required; it depends on your personal preference. Hope this is helpful:)
