Finally someone is talking about one of my new favorite webtoon. This entire video covering the hero of return really gave me goosebumps. Seriously thanks for all the work, this must have taken hours!
I so wish this series would be adapted into an anime the original premise is a great hook but how the story backs that hook up with an amazing coherent narrative with twists needs to be seen by more people Particularly hero of returns confession when the nukes are gonna hit just had me to & the poor sword heroes pain/humanity at the revelation
Truly one of the best stories out there. It's different from your usual cliche isekai story and shows a realistic look on characters with a returning/regressing ability. (This webtoon makes the hero of return my favorite character out there)
A rather interesting watch. It makes me think of this one podcast that I listened to years and years ago, which stated that one of Dracula's underrated powers was his immortality, because immortality lead to intelligence and wisdom through experience. This also makes me think of the final season of The Good Place as well, and how things become meaningless after awhile. One of the things that I find interesting with The Hero of Return's immortality is the timeloop aspect. It's not like he's living forever, and can at least experience new people, new cultures, new countries, new history developing and changing. He's stuck in a finite amount of time, which makes it worse.
The clock and fading panel in the background are really simple but add a lot of visual interest to what is ostensibly static panels being shown on screen. Good job!
Btw I just realized that the last return he did to see his wife and everyone else, he used the dagger minsu Kim threw to him in order to kill himself and go back one last time. That’s why he tells minsu “thank you, because of you I got to see all the people I cared about” I just put that together and it made the scene hit so much harder for me
When I read that twist it caught me so off guard and totally undermined all the gripes I had with the story. It was fucking genius imo and made the resurrection warrior one of my favorite manga/manwha characters
The manhwa shouldn't have a happy ending. The Hero of Return purposefully set humanity up for the worst possible outcome, that means, even if the Hero of the Sword is killed, the Earth is in total chaos. Heroes are still returning because the story doesn't actually give a clear limit of how many heroes can return, and if they're worse than Kim Minsu, or an another Hero of the Sword...
Actually, after this there no more héroes in the future. The rule of others Worlds to summon heros(or Warriors) is "the World of Origin don't have Demon King)....And Kim Min Soon is the Demon King of Void World(Earth) so, Kang save the World... and destroy EVERYONE ELSE!
Actually, the reason why people from Earth get isekaid is because it is the World of the Void. A world with no Demon King. That fact makes it possible for students to be 'drafted' as heroes from other world.
@@resurrectedpabut then in most worlds when the demon king dies another is reborn, however this story doesn't really address if its the same demon King or just another, so when the demon of the sword dies, does the world return to being a void world or does it stop being one, are there other void worlds where one could take heroes from? But clearly a citizen of the world could become a hero if the spear hero could wind up becoming the hero of heroes so do they really need void worlds? Also if the hero of return corrupted further he could have ended up becoming a demon so that could have been a different route he could have possibly taken (be killed by a hero) he didn't have to ruin a certain someone's life. That would have been a universal threat tho.
Ah man - Daryl Talks Games just did a video on the existential nature of Time and "Stories That Use Time to Hurt You". With this also included, I feel like I should really reflect on how I'm using my time lol

It was mentioned briefly that it didn’t work. Same as when he tried to become a cyborg so time can keep flowing (which also didn’t work as the system counted him dead once he lost about 50% of his body.)
I love this Webtoon but one problem I have with The Return Hero's plan is that the only reason he decides to turn Minsu Kim into a Demon Lord is because he could never beat him. I was fine with that reasoning when it was revealed but after his fight with Demon King Minsu Kim, I don't believe that he could never kill him. This is especially true when one considers that during his battle with Demon King Minsu Kim, he takes out all his items from his inventory including the armor of the Reeturn Demon King, yet he says that he had never used any of those items before, not even against Sword Hero Minsu Kim. I know that the story says that due to his Return ability, he never felt the need to use them but you would think after failing to kill the Sword Hero hundreds or thousands of times he would eventually try to use them, after all, what did he have to lose? I still love the story, but this inconsistency has slightly soured the Return Hero in my eyes. I just wish they never stated that he had never used the items before, or if they wanted to keep it the same explain how the armor was special. The armor's description even states that it's a soul-bound item so I would have been fine with him saying that it was the only item that wouldn't be restored by his ability if it broke, with him then stating he never wanted to risk it before. This would then tie back into his character moment of finally giving his all against Demon King Minsu Kim.
@@zacharyt.2694Here is my reasonig for it: The return warrior is too dependent on his ability because he can never die. it counts as a game over for him, making him return back to starting point once more. Honestly, I wanted this twist ending i just made up better. After the fight, and the return hero is slowly getting killed, Kim minsu tells the return hero something before he dies. What the return hero expected was the sword heroes final words... but instead he said a number, a large group of numbers, numbers that were so long that it took kim more than 10 minutes to finish. The eyes in the return hero went from peaceful, to pure dread and realizing what the number was. It was his times he returned by death and realizing a dark revelation of kim. He was never the sword hero, but he was a demon hero(a fallen hero with a corrupted and twisted ideology of order by pure supremacy and domination). Who has a harem of four, dark queens that can use abilities from the goddesses themselves and manipulated the very image of the sword hero, believing he was a champion of light, returning the curse of the return hero again, corrupting the other heroes and making sure that the earth stood still. The oldest used the goddess of hypnosis, the second used the goddess of light, the third used the goddess of corruption and the youngest used the goddess of time. These queens used their power to restart the return heroes life for Kim's ultimate goal, using the returns to make k8m stronger than before, so that he can become a demon king, who's order becomes absolute and unavoidable. The return hero goes into a heart reaching screech out pure madness and kim smiling out of pure glee and thanked him for his power. Before he disappears in the end...
