Watching this road trip series again(this time in 2024) and listening to Ben talk about his Honda Civic and how he might keep it for a few months and fix the power steering and window is hilarious with hindsight knowing what this car becomes.
They’d probably spend money on repairs or replacements parts on a $1000 budget. About 8 months ago I picked up a 1 owner 1988 Honda Accord with 68k miles on it for $1000. Ran good and looks new but needed some minor repairs, replaced a lot of gaskets and O rings, tires, a small oil leak, and I still need to repair the A/C. But it averages 26mph, all the power door locks, windows, and sunroof work and none of them leak. Not the most fun car I’ve owned but it makes me smile when I drive it still.

Sometimes I’ll read bits of Russian I cannot understand. Grasping certain words, suffixes, tenses, and grammar is super difficult in Russian. Translate can’t help there, obviously - but it can help with simple phrases or translating text.
My personal suggestion for a great road trip: The silk road from europe to asia. It's another level of road trip because sometimes it's getting a little bit off roady. This is what I have planned to do at some point of my life.
