You guys are the best I always enjoy watching your channel and you got me enough to want to build a rat rod model car and take it to a show and trains are my everything
There are places, in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas, that still have those up at the railroad crossings. Such as in rural areas. Or just simply in the middle of nowhere! Which most of the crossing sign's just like this one only have small areas of rust spots, the specs of rust look, or even that chalky film, that gets on your hands, clothes, and anyplace else that has made contact with the sign! Moreover, they are extremely neat looking, and I sure can notice the difference when I am going by one! It is a truly day, and night difference!
OK, go to our Amazon store and find some parts!! The pale blue 25mm reflectors are a bit big, may work depending on your sign. But they look great as per color. The 20mm is just right but had no reflective backing. Need to make your own. The 15mm are great for a miniature indoor sign!! BUT only available in red. And the same clear with no backing. Anyway, go to amazon and search for toy man television. Going to put up a show on doing this with these. At some point..
No kidding!! At that time someone got the idea to rip off my stuff. I think it was the same "people" but 3 time got ripped off. They even took a Wayne gas pump!!! Like 400 pounds and 11 feet tall!!! Bastards!!! I go one thing back from that stuff. A Juke box. Turned up in an antique shop 7 years later. Seaburg Trashcan.
ALL RIGHT! Way to go. These older "crossbucks" are "The Bomb. It is going to look purdy gosh darn sharp when you have it installed. (How's the neighborhood around Garagemahal?) I can see it out front. Lookin sharp with them new polo shirts. Just going to be classy no matter how you slice it. Now, if you excuse me; I must go beg for one. Greg and Jeanne
Its the Narrow Gauge Convention shirt. COOL convention. It will be great to have the crossbuck back in one piece and working. I'm thinking if we rig it to come on if anyone touches it that will discourage theft.... Bring a tool box, wire cutters and ear protection.
+ToyMan *Congrats on landing materials for a grade-crossing signal!* I reckon black-anodized sheet aluminum the most appropriate material for the visors and surrounds on the wigwag luminaires. Western Railroad Switch and Signal still manufactures the alternators used on post-1946 grade crossing signals, needed to this day on the Class 1's to power multiple LED luminaires at one railway-roadway intersection. Disappointingly, many of the parts for the Magnetic Flagman®, originally invented by Southern Pacific engineers in the 1910's to deal with the increasing incidence of train-pedestrian and train-equestrian collisions at the time, are no longer available in new old stocks and have to be re-created from mint examples. (Magnetic Signal Company folded in the 1960's.)
Hoping to fit it with 12 V LEDs. Then the whole thing will run on 12V. See how that goes... The surrounds would be best in black metal, in spite of the originals being plastic. Thats the plan..
Hey Toy Man you have a cross buck; I have a train order signal from the Rock Island station in Jonesboro, LA. It is complete with the control arms, rods, cast iron base, 35 ft pole, ladder, head, and semaphores with the roundels. The only thing I don't have is the concrete base.
COOL. Love collecting spikes. The rarest we have is a Salt Lake and Eastern. Only one I've ever heard of. AND a Uinta switch tie plate with rail and spikes.
We have an old Railroad Sign similar to yours. Most of the cats eyes are missing or smashed. I know were my sing came from and it was not from your place. Now, could you possibly know where we could purchase cats eye reflectors for a sign similar to yours. I have donated mine to a man in Virginia who recently came into possession of an full size old RFP Dinning Car, Caboose, and yard engine that is now frosting quietly for this crossing sings to have reflectors. We need one hundred sixty nine pieces. Thanks for any suggestions you can make.
Hi!! Indeed! They come up all the time on eBay. But they add up. I’ve seen people ask several dollars each!! I need a few too. But buying 5 is no big deal. However! On our Amazon store page you can find a plastic reflector in a bunch of colors and sizes. We are planning to make some 1/2 size signs with reflectors. They are not weather proof. And do not have the metal mount. And the only clear ones have no reflector back. Totally clear but perhaps they could be painted with chrome paint on the back? But the aqua blue look good. Look like old glass sort of. But I am planning some experiments with them. They may work for you depending or what you are doing long term. Search for 25mm Blue Aqua Lite H109 Flat Back Acrylic Round Cabochon High Quality Pro Grade - 12 Pieces. And. 25mm Red Ruby H103 Flat Back Acrylic Round Cabochon High Quality Pro Grade 12 Pieces In red. Search amazon fir it. Hard to find our store on amazon. Toy man Television influencer. But search for those in different sizes. And I have been looking for washers with a lip to give then the metal mount. Still would just be glued. But look better. Give a try. Let me know if it works.
I believe that it's pretty darn heavy, but judging by how easily you pulling it out of your car, I have to wonder if you've had your arms replace with some of Steve Austin's bionic parts. :-D
Dirk Stabins its 70 pounds was about 90 shipping weight!!! 240 bucks shipping!! Gad!! Easy to move, easy to grab hold of. Now lifting into place may be tricky......
I don't think so.... I have so many HO trains.... Most of the Diesel locos are blue box Athern. No idea which as I don't know much about Diesels. Have a GP 9 I think...
Security camera... AND I'm hoping to make it so it come on when you move it too much. They still may take it but more likely leave a small pile of poo......
I'm wondering. Did american railroads ever have gates on them before the invention of the automatic boom gate? here in Australia we followed English practice most of the time with manned gates across the tracks to stop stock from straying on the line ukrailways1970tilltoday.me.uk/signal_box_Scopwick_Signal_Box_and_gates.jpg like so. Did American crossings ever have something similar?
Some did, but in most places the crossing guard would walk out into the street with a red flag on lantern. Just like they still do at school crossings. But I vaguely remember my uncle yelling at a guy who dropped the gate in front of him, trapping him ON THE TRACKS.
its mounted wrong the word RAIL goes above the word CROSSING you oughta make the "donuts" out of metal instead of plastic I have one but it has plastic reflectors instead of the marble cat's eyes & I only missing 2 or 3 of them!
Toy Man Televisions. I was going to say 18" or two foot but, with your connections in Colorado, there's no reason you couldn't have one of those reserve K28s.
I have found that antique dealers, and their family members have no shame in stealing. I had them distract me around the back of the house, while grandma went in my house and stole my great grandmother's oil lamp. payback was a bitch for this family of thieves.😗
KEEP YOUR STUFF INSIDE NOT OUTSIDE. PLEASE CONSIDER NOT LEAVING THE STUFF OUTSIDE. THE NEW ONE NEEDS TO BE PUT ON YOU HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE POLICY TO PROTECT. ENJOY YOUR SCREWING AROUND TIME BUT RESIGN THE FACT IF ITS OUTSIDE IT WILL BE STOLEN. :( JIM KAMMERER OF PHILADELPHIA PA BE SAFE AND CAREFUL. HOW ABOUT A CCCTV SYSTEM WATCHING IT????
A nice buy for sure. Completes a room or place of any railroad enthusiast.
Hope to have the whole thing set up soon.
Nice find Dale. Do a time lapse video of the restoration.
You guys are the best I always enjoy watching your channel and you got me enough to want to build a rat rod model car and take it to a show and trains are my everything
Great video I can't wait to see your project put together I would say x marks the spot of some serious screwing around
Hopefully, this will inspire me to take up collecting R.R. paraphernalia once more. Thanks for posting. :)
Lanterns are easy and small......
Agreed, lanterns are much easier to handle than brake wheels.
Nice eBay find. I think a restoration video would be interesting.

Toy Man Television Indeed, that is what I mean!
She is so cute!
Would love to have one in my front yard, been thinking about scratch building one. Thanks for a great show

Roy Reynolds how did you get ahold of that thing? Biggest thing I have is a 1989 Southern Pacific employees timetable!
Thats HUGE. I have a lantern off of an order signal. Much smaller!!
Trainzguy 2472 I wrote the division office asking to buy it and the B & B gang took it down and gave it to me in 1966.
COOL. Love collecting spikes. The rarest we have is a Salt Lake and Eastern. Only one I've ever heard of. AND a Uinta switch tie plate with rail and spikes.
WOW is that your model room ! ?

Ps. I work out every single day!! I do fork curls and spoon lifts.
Do you have an HO scale sd9
I don't think so.... I have so many HO trains.... Most of the Diesel locos are blue box Athern. No idea which as I don't know much about Diesels. Have a GP 9 I think...
We need to look... There have been a few surprises as we unbox things..
How will you keep it from getting stolen again?
Security camera... AND I'm hoping to make it so it come on when you move it too much. They still may take it but more likely leave a small pile of poo......
Toy Man Television LOL
Might consider tamper switches run back to your alarm system as part of the tie-in essentially making it a monitored outdoor alarm horn.
Exactly!! Just need to figure out how!!!

A Rat Rod? How about a "Rat Buck"???
With a hint of steam punk....
As long as it isn't a Cross Rat!
It's obvious that you"ll need a live steam railroad to go with your crossbucks.
3 foot gauge I think...

Yes, but I need stuff outside. Security is key. Attack snake? Video? Right now people there 24 7 and that works best. But after the virus??
