Great stuff! Just watching your workflow gives me a great start on learning how much delicate work goes into making VFX look realistic. Thank you for sharing this tutorial!
Thank you ActionVFX for doing Fusion and Resolve tutorials
Thanks for a great fusion tutorial! Keep them up!
Thank you for this tutorial!
Great video. More Fusion tutorials please.
I learned a ton of great stuff in just 16 min!
I am starting a project TODAY in Davinci wanting to composite fire here instead of After Effects. MANY thanks for this timely tutorial 🙏 Truly a life saver!
Glad we could help! More Fusion tutorials to come, so stay subscribed! :)
i hope to see the project of yours sometime soon on youtube
thanks for fusion tutorials! continue with it ACTIONVFX :)
great tutorial, thanks!
This tutorial is very handy and awesome! You saved my project.
Glad we could help! 🔥
This was great. I’m doing something similar and just wondered how you found playback and rendering.
This was great.
Thank you for the fantastic tutorial! I struggled to remove the dark smoke around the flames but was excited to find that applying the "Screen" mode in the Merge node eliminated the black contour. Now, I aim to isolate the flame without the background for overlaying in Edit mode onto an image. Could you guide me on disconnecting the background in Fusion or suggest another node for achieving the Merge/Apply mode: Screen effect? Appreciate your assistance!
Great👍🔥🔥🔥
Wow - what a great tutorial. Awesome❤
Thank you! ❤
This one is great!! Looking for more fusion based tutorials with your packs!!
Glad it was helpful! We're hoping to start putting out tutorials again soon. With all of our recent launches and company growth, we've had a lot going on as you can imagine 😀
cool, fusion in specific would be great

thank you :3
Great video! Can you do this with the free version of Davinci?
incredible how many nodes have to be made to compose a fire, It's good How to know how to do all those nodes to compose a fire but the best would be to make it easier to copy all the nodes and simply replace the node with the old node of the fire and replace it with the node of the new fire.
I saw Resolve / Fusion. I press like button.
Can you please a tutorial in fuse with Gas explosions
I have a suggestion for a new Resolve/Fusion tutorial. Using the uVolume nodes added in the new 19 beta to import vdb files and render some explosions. It's basically a "how to use our stuff in Resolve" tutorial, since you have lots of those assets
Waiting for the rain on glass for davinci ❤
Adding that idea to the list!
🔥🤩
this is so awesome! although it's really time consuming D: what if I have a scene with lots of vfx like fires explosions smoke, dust particles etc etc it will take me years :(
i think you can copy paste nodes
🔥Thank you !🔥
hey thanks great tutorial. but i have a problem: the planar transform doesn't seem to do what i want. it moves to extreme. for example: if the camera / tracker moves a bit down, the planar transform moves almost double. in the green preview that shows on the planar tracker itself, the issue is not there
did you find a solution?
what's the activation key?
I have a question. How come when you imported the fire in the background was already transparent? i found a free fire VFX but it has a black background.
Thanks for the question! Many of our assets come with an alpha channel, so the black background is taken care of, but a few still include it. If you're using one of our free fire assets, this may be the case. You can check out this tutorial to quickly and easily remove it: ua-cam.com/video/iuOq0NrC89Q/v-deo.html
i thing it's more easier to work on after effect am i wrong ?
why when i pull the fire video into fusion, it doesnt show???
Could somebody plesase tell me where to find the "timspeed" tool. I don't seem to have the "select tool" and I am desperately trying to find for two days now.. Your help would be priceless!!!!!
Hold CTRL+SPACE together to bring out the select tool, and then you can search on TimeSpeed, or right click on the Nodes workspace window, go to Add Tool > Miscellaneous and you will find the TimeSpeed tool :)
@@ActionVFXofficial You are the best!!! A huge thanks for taking the time to help, like the others said you are a life saver! Keep up the amazing work you do ;)
Thanks, you just saved me from burning down my house!
💦😂💦
Nothing shows when I drop footage into the node area. Images and text work perfectly fine but footage wont appear or it will only show as an image and wont play
Please contact our support team with detail of the problem, and screenshots if necessary, through the following email:

@ActionVFXofficial Thank you! I kind of..sort of found a solve but it's not at all practical. I'll send you an email when I get the chance this week
I hate Fusion sometimes. I'm trying to track something from one piece of footage, stabilize it and mask it off, ready to then overlay it onto the same footage further back in the timeline. Do you think I can find a way???? I can't even get it to stabilize. It keeps drifting off to the left no matter what settings I put in.
Use any of the channels that have the most amount of contrast and change the adaptive mode to best match and reduce the match tolerance.
@@xanzuls Thanks for the help, but the real problem is stabilizing. It's tracking just fine. Resolve only seems to approximate and smooth the movement out, but over time it drifts. I can't get it to stay on the spot so I'm having to rotoscope it and move it around manually with transform to get it to stay put. I'm using the corner pins in the end to make it overlay onto the new footage.
or the fire video doesnt play like video. it just stays there like a photo. i dont get it!!!!!!! how do i fix?????? ive been working on this for weeks now!!!!!
Hey! It's possible you're not bringing the clip into Fusion properly. I would recommend reaching out to Blackmagic's support team or try to find information on Blackmagic forums. Sorry I can't provide more assistance!
Which app did u use for editing
They used Davinci Resolve which has a Work Area called FUSION which is a compositor like After Effects (but node based instead of Tracks/layers)
The problem, which is a big problem… The light from the fire is not affecting the building whatsoever. Which of course ruins the whole illusion. You can’t have a big fire like that without affecting the wall of the building.
this is NOT making fire, it is using fire resource.
reported for misleading title.
Utterly useless .. couldn't get any of this to work.
This was great. I’m doing a something similar and just wondered how you found playback and rendering.
