This is in Vancouver, British Columbia. It is impossible to say anything in defence of saving these magnificent old homes without someone complaining, The city has lost many of the heritage homes and it makes me sick.
The fate of properties rented out to section 8 for any length of time.
Nice job dropping the chimney
I don't know about the "multi million dollar" part. A flooding basement, a bad roof that won't hold another shingle. The house is nothing, it's the lot.
I sold a 600 square foot clapboard shack in Toronto last summer for 3/4 of a million.
yet another house torn down without recycling anything what a waste!!!
Seems to be the norm in the US... I thought Canada would be a bit more modern.
Well, it LOOKED nice....!
mycrawf thank you for the chance!
Nice dust control!!!
Neighbors musta been pissed!
sad, sad, sad....
This happens a lot in Dallas Texas.
where was the water truck at for dust control. jeepers if i lived next door, i be mad as a hornet
BigJim57 I know, That is a shit ton of dust. Looks like older house also.
I know i would be pissed too but after doing some quick searches not every area has dust control laws. Not sure where this how was located but they might not have laws requiring dust control on demolition. Where I live as long as the as the area is cleaned up and no dirt and debris on the public road, sidewalk and and any public area there is nothing prohibiting dust in the air.
That mortar in the bricks has been through so many thermal cycles it is not strong anymore
What are you talking about? In China they have buildings done in burned clay bricks that are a millennia old and in my town Odense we have a few that are around 400 years old. There are no expiry date on regular bricks.
Why are people so eager to tear down beautiful buildings to replace them with worthless modern buildings? I've never understood this mentality. If a home or commercial building has historical significance in some way, it should be preserved instead of demolished.
This Is Vary Sad To See Yy Not Good Others Could Live There
Rene Van Dijk I agree. But this person bought this for the property. Not the house. He is a multi millionaire and wanted this location for whatever reason. The house he builds on this land will be incredible
Where the man high the hose to stop dust. Dust could contain lead Ok and or asbestos
Land value only, house is not multi million dollar, opposite, house is a problem and additional expenses to land owner.
How'd you like to live in the house next door to all that mess???
This is Terrible probably will be replaced by an ugly half ass house
What year was this built in? A house built in 1916 in my neighborhood was demolished!
The people that bought my uncle's home on the lake for $400K tore it down and put up a $1.2 million home. When the economy tanked in 2008-2009, they lost everything.
why the HELL was this beautiful house demolished???!!! I can tell you as someone who has lived in an apartment FAR too long that i would love to have lived there!! JUST SICKENING!!!
Michael Platek I know right. Some people have too much money. Why not buy a property somewhere and build on that instead of ripping down a beautiful house
the three most important thing in real estate location location location and he who has the bucks gets the goods
Once the owner passed away, and the house sat unattended while probate occurred, significant damage occurred caused by burst pipes, leading to a massive mold problem. Insurance pretty much paid for replacement. (My father did all the glasswork in the original and the replacement.)
What a shame. I hate seeing perfectly good homes and buildings being destroyed for no legitimate reason. If there is something wrong with it that is not cost effective to repair then I can understand it.
The one thing I never seem to see in any of these demolition videos is a guy running up to the operator and saying "Wait, wait, we changed our mind!"
W.A.B mobile entertainment It been done before LOL search Wrong House Demolished in North Texas.
Where was that house?
should be using water to control all the dust
Multimillion... Maybe, maybe not but still a gorgeous house that I personally would rather fix than live in whatever poorly built slap dash POS that they will surely build in it's place
Bob Smith it’s in a rich part of Toronto. It in a multi million dollar home
@@builttoughtooltalk oh I'm sure it is. I meant whatever problems it may have that made it worth more to tear down. I also had no idea where it was. Location means everything. My father has a tiny house that's within sight of NYC skyline and it's worth 400k. If that same house was in Bangor Maine, where I live, it would be worth under 100k
Why was this being demolished? Looks stunning!
picklesrule69 to build a custom home. Some ppl have too much money lol
Built Tough Tool Talk it's well sad! Why couldn't they buy a plot of land or a empty house :(
You can see the operator is new at it. Every move is separate and jerky. New operators start on these jobs where other workers are not around compared to construction sites where injuries can happen with inexperienced machine operators.
I could have fixed that
A lot of folks of 'average means' complain about how such a beautiful home could be torn down? It's simple: People of average means could not afford to do the upkeep, utilities and taxes on such a property if they were GIVEN THE HOME. People that can afford these types of properties can afford to have an older home demolished and a new multi-million dollar home custom built to their own specifications. MURIKA! lol
John Tilson agreed. This is in Toronto Canada. Lots of ppl doing this. But a $3mil property. Tear the house down. And build a new custom home.
chimmney close to next house...
Forest hill ?
Why wouldn't they remove and reuse or donate the windows?
gremlinsbreath because no one is volunteering to remove the windows for free, and no one is going to pay to have windows removed from a house they are already paying to demolish just so someone else can have them cheap.
You can always tell when an operator even a good operator doesn't do a lot of demolitions, they start with the roof instead of pushing in the walls
Here, In Toronto, the basement beams are notched by hand prior to the excavator coming in, then the roof must be disintegrated first, then, starting from front center, the uppermost facade must be collapsed inwards, moving out to the pillar points, and around the structure. Then using a standard push-point in next lower center facade, collapsing inwards until each floor is collapsed. Finally, using weight of excavator on the closed bucket, piling everything into the "basement". Water can only be used on "at-grade" demolitions here, as pooling is an ecological nightmare with debris.
If someone has no class and wants to live a some modern glass affair fine but why would you want to build it in a street where it will stick out like a sore thumb beside older more traditional houses. It's baffling.
All beautiful things must come to a end even houses
Not only is it a shame that they tore this beauty down, but I'm betting that they didn't do any salvage ahead of destruction day. Those leaded glass windows in the front only could have been re-purposed. This only makes sense if the home had had a fire or other structural defaults. Whatever they put up in place of this probably was built as well.
I think they demolished the wrong house. It was suppose to be the ugly old house next door.
That Volvo is worth more than that house.
Chris Yarzab lol. Not in the city. This house is around the $3-4 million price range.
Built Tough Tool Talk I'm just talking about that house. It's being demolished so the Volvo is worth more. Maybe, the property is worth more than the Volvo but, the house is worth zero. LOL!
Nice house but Not much of a house for multi millions
The house and property was worth about $5 million. Now with a new custom home on it probably worth $7 million. Depends on the area
Why would someone take a house that cost Millions of dollars to build. From Joey.
this guy must be paid by the hour how long does it take ffs
why was this destroyed? TERRIBLE
@@builttoughtooltalk And they could not find property that did not have a lovely old home already on it? Sad that craftsmanship is not appreciated
What is the purpose of this video
House made from paper and wood - Not big waste! We in Europ dond use papers and wood for making housee, we use brick and concret!!
Wtf. Wrong house. Dam
What can you do when you don't have a war at home ?
Demolish houses and kill memories…
M
You know there's things in this house that habitat could used!!! Windows, doors, wood, van nets, fixtures, sickening!!!! I need Windows so bad that I'm having to caulk them so much to get them not to fall out!!! And, these ppl just waste all these things even the brick could be reused???
I cant see why this house was worth a million dollar
fokkemaat this house and property was around the $3-5 million range. It’s in a rich part of Toronto.
🔨Let me guess money talks Bullshit gets demolished
What a waste! Slow. Must be paid by the hour.
Who ever built the house did it wrong & it’s not worth fixing cost to much. Best thing to do is take it down & put another house up.!
Must have been bought by a millennial and the living room was the wrong color.
agreed im a millennial, and i find the destruction of this home to be a very dumb idea.
certainly but it depends on the turd such as this one useless thing rich people can buy but i doubt will ever use. it's a pill containing gold flakes which is meant to make your turd look like gold . bet then you could polish it more [ this has gotta be the most random conversation on UA-cam by far.
Bad operator. Everyone keeps talking at about the lot like there is something special about it? Maybe im weird but a bunch of big houses on top of each other close to a road i dont see the value. Also there is many of possible reasons for the demo water damage insect issue asbestos mold list gose on. Gotta
Zachary Holbrook this is in Toronto. The value of houses and properties are very high. This property probably sold for around $3-4 million.
Zachary Holbrook the reason for demolishing this house is only to build a bigger custom home.
So sad. Such a travesty. If you don't like the house on the lot, find an empty lot and build one. Waste of such a beautiful home.
The operator takes to long and jumps around to much
You say multi million dollar house because it has million in it
I say multi million dollar house because it is a multi million dollar house. Thanks for watching.
Rookie in over his head. Slow operator, especially in a Volvo, and you don't start at the top!!! Also should have a fire hose of water on it to knock the dust down.
A wrecking ball would be faster
Trump! I like the fact that someone is a Trump supporter!
I do believe it says F*** Trump. Look at the red lettering above Trump. Who would put that on their wall, either way?
You need some dust control there. Neighbors will be unhappy.
