Humble Pie Rockin’ the Fillmore and AC/DC Back in Black, both US pressings, need to be on your list.
Back in Black is a RL masterpiece. Im not even an ACDC fan, but it is incredible.
Great video. It isn't often recognized, but there are a number of superb US pressings on the ECM label that were mastered by none other than RL for Masterdisk.
Hello from California. Thanks for the video. I was on a RL kick for a while and collected many many RLs. His work is truly great. Cheers
Thanks! Hi from Amsterdam! What is your favorite RL record?
@@top5records796 Led Zeppelin II of course and AC/DC back in black.
Adding RL mastered Heartbeat City - The Cars 😮
Great video again! I knew this video was going to cost me money. Ordered the Billy Joel on your recommendation. Thanks for all your hard work 👍
Thanks! I’m happy to hear that! I’m sure you’ll love it!
Agree with the earlier post, AC/DC Back in Black. I found a nm Columbia record club pressing side 1 is a typical record club pressing, super clean, clear, dynamic. Side 2 is stamped RL, when the first bell gongs for Hells Bells hits, OMG, no doubt it’s a RL press, religious experience!
Sounds great! I’ll hunt that one down!
Wow, thanks for this countdown and hello from Melbourne. Love your enthusiasm for RL. Have you tried Love Over Gold by Dire Straits on Quiex vinyl (US Promo) mastered by RL? It’s insanely dynamic and realistic sounding. Thoroughly recommend it. And thank you for some titles cut by RL I hadn’t considered. Really liked your video 🙏❤️
Millie Jackson “Caught Up” and Lee Dorsey “Yes We Can” are two great Ludwig mastered R&B records people should check out.
Hi, nice video!
Can you please direct me to the articles that say Robery Ludwig mastered The Doors lps?
Thanks!
Thank you!

I have an RL pressing of Def Leppard Pyromania that sounds great! I just last week finally got my hands on an RL SS copy of Zeppelin 2!
@top5records I'm assuming the Doors S/T reissue is from US, correct? What year was it released? I'd like to grab a copy
It is indeed US, I believe it’s from 1969!
It is really worth it!
@@top5records796 I believe it is '69. It's tricky, but I think that's right. Which pressing plant is yours?
Good luck, there's like 7 variants and only 1 sems to be RL on side a and b
@@top5records796 Have you heard the original US Monarch S/T, that’s my go-to along with the DCC CD for a different take.
Extraordinarily good video. NIGHTFLY: The mastering of the standard cd, manufactured by polygram in Hannover, is mastered too by Bob Ludwig. And it sounds really good. Some of your favorite ludwig-discs, I also own, billy joel, steely dan etc. what do you think about kevin grey and jan erik kongshauk (ecm label)?
Thank you! I really love Kevin Gray (I am working on a Top 25 of his work right now). I’m afraid I’m unknown with Jan Erik Kongshauk.
Regarding Led Zep II and The Band S/T: both albums had a bit of controversy regarding Bob's mastering. As vinyl was the primary source for music in the very late 60's and very early 70's, both of those albums were a bit too dynamic for the many cheap record players that were in people's homes. These pressings made the stylus pop out of the grooves for being a bit too dynamic. Led Zep II was given to Bob Ludwig for a second mastering (so he did that album twice). Both mastering's are superb. Capitol records had the album remastered by a different engineer but continued to use the Ludwig masters for quite a while. Both records are easily trackable on modern turntables.
A vinyl UA-cam channel with the unforgivable “vinyls” in the title smh
Corrected it, never use the word like that a mistake that slipped in. Thanks for noticing.
I’m mostly teasing, the plural of vinyl is vinyl. Or you can use records, LPs etc etc
@@alexturk2383no but I agree! I myself always talk about records so you are right about it!
When a record sounds amazing and it doesn't make sense how, the answer is Robert Ludwig, haha.
Very cool to see Jobriath there. I think my US copy only has RL on Side 1. (I think someone else at Sterling just followed his notes for Side 2.) If so, I now want to do a very serious side comparison.
And I now need that self-titled Doors he did!
Great list. I’d add a couple early efforts: Velvet Underground -self titled 3rd album; Sly & the Family Stone - There’s a Riot Going On. You might also consider the very good Police - Synchronicity. Two of his very best are also AC/DC - Back in black and perhaps his greatest mastering work ever, rivaling the towering Led Zeppelin II - David Bowie - David Live (make sure to confirm you get RL on all 4 sides).
He did self-titled VU?? Holy crap, I need to hear that.
The Leslie West "Mountain" album from 1969 is an RL cut pressing and it sounds tremendous.
Interesting!
Big RL fan of course I have about half of these all great choices thank you
Thanks!
Does anyone know how this 2021 Metallica remastered black album compares to the 2014 blackened by Chris bellman or the 2008 by Chris bellman? Both are highly rated as well.
Great list but there is one obvious record missing. Back in black!!! AC/DC!
Led Zep II is hot!!!!
Check out H2O by Hall and Oates. Synchronicity by Police. Like a Virgin by Madonna. So Red the Rose by Arcadia. Notorious by Duran Duran. By RL.
Thanks! Also love the RL of Like a Virgin!
Welcome.
@@top5records796 forgot Journey’s Escape.
I totally agree regarding with the first pressing of "Like A Prayer". The CD sounds spectacular too, but the vinyl is brilliant. Ditto the same comments for Brother's In Arms, although the first pressing is so edited down from the CD & cassette versions, including the long intro to Money For Nothing & Your Latest Trick.
Thank you for posting: interesting video
Thanks! I’m happy to hear that!
Fantastic. You need to interview him
I would love to do that!
@@top5records796 Then make it happen 👍
The RL MASTERDISK cutting of AC/DC’s For Those About To Rock sounds amazing!
Nice, and very interesting. Thanks for making the effort for this video 👍
