I have experience the mercy of Confession. It's so freeing & makes you feel so much lighter! What a blessing that our Lord gave us this Sacramento. Thanks be to God! M~
I have been redeemed by the Sacrament of Confession. Can't imagine sharing my sins to just anyone. Trusting the Pastor with my soul is a blessing beyond words. My soul is not for anyone but Christ. Thank you for sharing this important gift!
Every time I go to Confession, I end up crying. No matter how many times I tell myself; “don’t cry this time”, I still end up crying. It’s worst during Easter & Christmas, its done in the open when the line is so long behind you. “Jesus, have mercy on me, a sinner”. As I go about my day, I have made this short whisper a habit, multiple times a day, every day.
Ange, Thanks so much for having the strength to share this. We’ll be sure to keep you in our prayer intentions from here on - Sebastian from Your Real Life Catholic team
And bringing your sins to the priest is humbling. It can be really hard, and we try to justify them. Where leaving them at the feet of our Lord (priest as Persona Christa) is so freeing!
Wonderful, Chris. I loved your truth that Confession is “on His Terms”-so consoling that even in His generous Forgiveness, He even provides the way to receive it! All the Glory be to God and God Bless your work, Chris. 🙏🙏🙏
I never understood this concept until I started to go regularly every month. Now I can’t imagine my life without confession. Thanks for the explanation.

My concern is whether or not a priest has been breathed on by the Holy Spirit(not by the Church) I would assume most have not been. But I agree, we need all the help we can get. I share my testimony of how God miraculously cleansed me of all my sins(mortal and all) and made me new again just during the Catholic mass. I will be sharing more miracles...Peace and Love to all!..
Matthew chapter 23:9 IN REGARDS TO THE CHURCH ñ NO MAN ON EARTH THEIR FATHER FOR ONLY ONE IS YOUR FATHER, GOD IN HEAVEN. Any thoughts on that father 🤔🔥😢
According to Roman Catholic Church not to choose God is a sin (disobey commandments, not repent, etc). The consequence of sin is eternal death. Right? So what is the meaning of Jesus death on the cross? Didn't He died for SINNERS? Which means for those who do not repent. Btw, I really would like to know what you all think about it?
The Reformers taught that through faith alone we receive righteousness of Christ imputed on us, covering our unrighteousness and sins. Justification is instantaneous through which we are counted as righteous, which means we are both righteous (externally, based on that of Christ) but internally we remain sinner. In Latin it is known as "simul iustus et peccator" or justified and sinner at the same time. The slogan is "we enter heaven based on what Christ did on the cross, accepted by faith alone, and not based on anything we do". That is why you have problem not only with confession but also purgatory. Based on imputation concept of the Reformers they make what Christ did on the cross not sufficient. Catholics, on the other hand, believe that salvation is a process that begins with faith (Eph. 2:8) and includes sanctification (2 Thes 2:13). If salvation is a process, then so is justification. Through justification the righteousness of God through Christ is infused in us or through justification we are made righteous. Scripture does say through Christ we are made righteous (Rom. 5:19). Scripture also says in Ezekiel 33:12 that we lose righteousness through sinning, which denies "simul iustus et peccator" concept of the Reformers. That is the reason why Christ gave the authority to forgive sins to the Church. Ezekiel 18:20 says we cannot use other's righteousness, which denies imputation concept of the Reformers. Scripture defines a righteous person as he who does what is right (1 John 3:7). It is not salvation by works because our ability to do what is right comes from and is only possible by grace through Christ as apart from Him we can do nothing (John 15:5). Catholic slogan is "we enter heaven based on what Christ did on the cross AND what He does in us, i.e. He transforms us from our unrighteous state to righteous one". Scripture says the righteous shall go to eternal life (Mat. 25:46).
OK, I was reading very carefully and I think I understood what you say. But look, if someone fails to become righteous in the way you explained here, he is what? He is a sinner. And Jesus died for sinners. Btw, I am not from evangelical church.
@@loveandideas Jesus did die for our sins but this does not mean we can sin continuously. You may say you don't believe such thing but that is the implication of imputation concept. When you die God will look at righteousness of Christ (that covers your unrighteousness and sins) - He cannot (or I must say He pretends not to see) your sins and therefore He will let you enter heaven. In other words you rely on righteousness of Christ to enter heaven, which is contradicts what Ezekiel 18:20 says. He who sins belongs to the devil (1 John 3:8). That is why Catholics believe that our sins must be blotted away through confession and purgatory. A righteous person is NOT a sinless person. Scripture refers Noah, Daniel, Job (Ezekiel 14:14), Joseph (Mat. 1:19), Elizabeth and Zechariah (Luke 1:6), Abel (Hebrews 11:4) and even Lot (2 Peter 2:7) as righteous persons. A righteous person will sin from time to time. A righteous person falls seven times and rises again (Prov. 24:16). When a righteous person commits iniquity, he will die and all his righteous deeds will be forgotten (Ezekiel 18:24). But when a wicked person turns away from his sin and starts doing what is right, he will live and all his past sins will be forgotten (Ezekiel 18:27-28). You may say Ezekiel belongs to OT but God does not change his standard (Malachi 3:6). Proverbs 10:2 says righteousness delivers from death and again Mat 25:46 says the righteous shall go to eternal life. We become righteous only by grace through Christ (Rom. 5:19) that enables us to do what is right that makes us righteous (1 John 3:7). To repent and to turn away from sins belong to "doing what is right" - even they are explicitly stated in Scripture. Once, by grace, we repent then we get forgiveness of sins through Sacrament of Confession. It does not matter whether you are evangelical or not. As long you follow imputation concept of the Reformers then you will have problem with Confession.
Free will exist for us to have opportunity to love God. To love God is our autonomous response. It's not a gift from God, it's not a grace from God. Nothing can replace it. Jesus died for the consequence of our wrong decision. He died to save us from eternal death. According to you, when we make the decision to be with God?
@@loveandideas It seems to me you changed the subject. Is it because you are satisfied with the answer? As human, unlike animals, we are created with freedom to choose between right or wrong. What happened after the Fall is another dispute between the Reformers and the Catholic Church. According to Catholic teaching, after the Fall, we can freely choose what is good only by grace and after first moved by grace. Grace is the prime mover and our will is secondary. Jesus died on the cross to atone our sins. In OT they sacrifice animals as sin as without blood there is no forgiveness of sin. We no longer need animal sacrifice as Christ died and His Blood was shed once for all two thousand years ago. But if you think our sins committed after believing in Christ will not affect your salvation, then you should read Heb 10:26-27. When 1 John 3:8 says he who sins belongs to the devil - this statement is addressed to believers. The soul that sins shall die (Ezekiel 18:4). At one point in our life must make decision to follow Christ. Every year, on Good Friday, Catholics renew their commitment to Christ.

Scriptural backing please?! NOT just CLAIMS of scriptural backing! Otherwise, I'm finding it hard to see why so many comments are comforted simply because you say it in a nice way. It still sounds like rubbish to me. I am so grateful that God forgives me, and that I can go DIRECTLY to him. Not some priest, who is a fellow sinners like me.
Straight to God through a priest...that is not straight to God. I believe having a personal relationship with Christ is important. A priest cannot absolve your sin, only God can.
It is God who forgive sins through the ministry of the priests based on what Christ said in John 20:21-23. For comparison, while only God and/or Jesus save (the title Saviour is only applied to them in Scripture), they can use us as an instrument to save others, without making us saviours.
I agree that we can confess directly to God and he forgives us. I also agree that confessing your sins is good for your soul and a priest is non judgmental, private and shows love during the process. Confess your sins to one another that you may pray for one another and be healed. If you happen to have a good friend or pastor that has the time to listen to you that’s great but I have found no Pastor that would listen and advise on a weekly basis or monthly basis. I have received some very good advice from the right priest. I was raised Catholic but have been a charismatic evangelical for 40 years and have been going back to Mass. I understand much more now then I did when I was young. Although there are still things in Catholicism I cannot rectify biblically for myself I think that confession has been very good.
