So nice of you to come up with SO MANY ways to keep the local firefighters and paramedics busy and employed.
As a former union journeyman electrician all I can say is YIKES!
Most of these are not only non-code standards, they are actually fire and safety hazards.
Having said that, I really need me one of those conductive pens 🙂
Those conductive pens work great on broken rear window defroster grids in vehicles, much better than the parts store kits.
Like the homemade cable reel? Calm yourself.

Electric work must be so much fun when you ignore all safety regulations. This video would be great for electricians in training: How many code violations can you spot?
Great video if you want to kill yourself or burn down a building.
We have the code (NEC) for those reasons
Have a great day and be safe.
P. S. I would suggest that none of the viewers use most of these hacks. Do it right!
больше половины из увиденного это нарушение правил технической эксплуатации элекроустановок.
.... I'm only taking the pencil sharpener hack with me, all others are fire hazzards
and somethings would be much more dangerous/deadly with a AC power grid. this is a real problem. everywhere on earth is not the same and when you make a video for the world it could be viewed by the whole world, not just your local area. I remember some mushroom hunter saying you don't need to worry about any mushrooms growing in the grass they are all not dangerous but in my country the USA one of our most deadly mushrooms grows in the grass. once a nursing home cook unwittingly mass murderer a whole bunch of elders because he cooked some. because destroying angle looks like white button mushrooms sold in the local store, I think he got lethal injection but I am not sure.

That's a bit over dramatic. I only seen one that could injure or kill someone. Some of these were actually quite good. But I guess you one of those types no aren't you. Just don't like anything and always make everything more dramatic than it actually is....huh...
You're missing the point. It's about problem solving and creative thinking which is exactly what the job involves. You can take or leave the tips rather than complaining about them on the internet.

Soldering high-voltage wires ends is prohibited by electrical regulations in most countries. If an electrician connects wires by soldering - this is an impostor with a fake license, drive him away! Use cable nuts or WAGO connectors. Do NOT connect Copper and Alluminium wires together without a special Al-Cu connector.
Soldering high voltage and main house line a BIG NO NO. Aluminum a copper too
Is it because of heat melting solder?
Most of the connectors on this video are not legal
dear lord other stuff was brilliant. videos like this are in a bind You ever see India videos fixing 65k watt transformers. This video is God like compared to India But your information was also well needed.
@@Azaerel If you do this you would have two different metals in contact. You make a battery by the reactance of two metals to each other. Also solder and copper have different resistance. Lots of weird stuff will transpire in that connection, better to have a connection that is invisible to the flowing current.

I think I’ll combine the conductive marker with the live-screw lightbulb technique. It saves a lot of planning if I don’t have to run wires and install light fixtures.
i hope this is satire because if not please enjoy your house fire and/or getting electrocuted
Also material cost!! Who cant find a few drywall screws after framing & a scrap of trim or wet plywood laying around. And its universal-fits every lightbulb. Genius!
Oh, forgot the marker. Use it all the time-& my kids are learning my trade. I just make my schematic with their fav toy’s outline (Mr. Octopus for complicated jobs & letem rip. (Cover the marker w/rainbow tape to make it more fun)..
Don't forget to randomly coil up some wire and stick it behind a GPO for no apparent reason...it may help in your journey.

Most of these hacks are in violation of codes. They are either health or fire hazard.
Yes. I almost shat myself when I saw the conductive paint being used across that board for the light bulb.
Some ingenious stuff there.... Good to open your eyes to possibilities but electricity does have a nasty habit of killing you if you don't know what your doing!
In my country almost every one of those hacks are illegal and would cause an electrician a loss of license

All the time. Put one of the cheap ones in the middle, & they work just like a fuse. Whereever you smell smoke, listen for a sizzle behind the wall - you know the fault is somewhere on that line, a line connected to it!! Brilliant!
Agreed
I didn't think circuit boards were repaired any more. My tech class was the last one to design and burn circuit boards. That conductive pen looks like a lot of fun.🤗😊🤗
There is a reason that most countries who value human rights have these things called electrical codes. The word hack doesn't exist in proper, safe and engineered electrical installations and fabrications.
Hack is the right word, just not in the way they're using it. 🤣
You've got that right , For example those T tap connectors I would never use for splicing a wire , For example when I have to make a splice in knob and tube wiring , I carefully strip the existing wire and wrap the wire I'm adding on tightly around the existing wire and then solder the connection , Afterwards I'll wrap it up with splicing tape than finish it with Scotch 33 electrical tape
Another thing that when I connect stranded wire to a lug terminal , Instead of smashing a piece of copper flat and trying to wrap it around the wire , What's much better and easier is I'll take a piece of copper tubing ,
Cut a small piece and slip it on the stranded wire and then crimp it on so it's good and tight, Then make the connection to the lug
Now for those large crimp on ring terminals
I would use the proper terminals for the wire size and not try to make a terminal by smashing down a piece of copper tubing because the part that's flattened down may not be thick enough to handle the amperage and also use the proper crimping tool
I am very strict when it comes to electrical safety and don't believe in "Jerry rigging"
anything , For any electrical installation
Using the right connectors and the right tools for the job is an absolute must
This one time I was replacing a receptacle and cord for a clothes dryer and the idea popped into mind that putting a piece of copper tubing on the stranded wire ends and crimping it on definitely protects the strands from damage when connecting the wire to a lug terminal which also keeps the connections from overheating because direct connecting stranded wire to a lug terminal will have to be retightened periodically because compared to solid wire
Stranded wire direct connected to a lug terminal is known to come loose over a period of time and by crimping on a piece of copper tubing to the stranded wire end
The connection stays tight , using a cordless drill is ideal for twisting wires together but I never use a drill for putting on wire nuts because you can very easily overtighten them , Another thing I do is when I connect 3 or more wires together with a wire nut is I'll put a zip tie on the wires just beneath the wire nut to help keep them tight in the wire nut , Another thing is those Wago connectors
I don't really trust them for a tight connection
They're fine for temporary connections such as light strands that's used in construction but not for permanent connections
"Human rights?" I don't think that's the term that applies
You got that right , Especially when it comes to electricity because of how dangerous it can be , Not only does it shock people but it can seriously cause severe internal burns which can result in losing fingers , limbs etc, Not to mention causing death , It can very easily start fires if the work is not done right
I realize how very important it is to do every electrical job right which is a big part of respecting electricity and I definitely don't believe in cutting corners and for something as dangerous as electricity , You can't afford to , I myself almost died from electrocution when I was 10 years old when I went to turn on a floor lamp in the living room , Nobody told me about the lamp being defective and I feel to the floor , Lamp and all , I can about swear that God came down from his heaven and got me loose from the shock
Our next door neighbor who's an electrician looked at the lamp and found one of those tiny wire strands from the cord was touching the metal part of the lamp which made the whole thing a live wire and he explained to me about why I got such a bad shock , He showed me what caused the lamp to become a live wire and how shocks occur and how to avoid touching paths to the ground , After the accident I started becoming very interested in electricity and our electrician neighbor began teaching me about electrical safety and respecting it , That awful experience definitely taught me a lesson in not cutting corners when doing electrical work because I always think about what it can do to you every time I do an electrical job
Thanks also to our electrician neighbor
He was a huge help to me to overcome my fear of electricity and I sure learned alot from him and I have several electrician friends who have given me valuable tips as I was learning about electricity and I tell them what kind of installation I'm doing and they gave me even more valuable tips to help me do the job right and I have always thanked them very much for it , That's just one of the reasons I am very strict about electrical safety
When it comes down to brass tacks ,
No matter what you do , Safety is a definite must and always priority one and there is no such thing as being too careful
"Hack" doesn't necessarily equate to code violations. They're just different and more efficient ways to attain the desired results more quickly. My Robotics teammates would always yell at me for handling builds with "unorthodox" methods/solutions, but we always ended having a top tier functioning robot to kick ass in Comp. People often look at a different way of doing things, and immediately rule it out as something legal. Just because it's different doesn't mean it's wrong.
The twisty bendy stuff: pretty good, actually a few useful ideas in there. The mains power stuff to bypass proper tools and equipment: you gotta be kidding me.

Exactly my type of content! I love this video. Especially for a DIY person that may not have stores of items at hand, or in my case, I run out of something when I still need 3 more 😭. I can't speak to the electrical code safety on these hacks, but for the most part they seem like alternative ways of making hardware or connections or doing the same thing the "professionals" do. In my current video, I'm restoring an 80-year-old table saw motor and I discovered a broken double torsion spring as part of the centrifugal switch once I got the motor fully disassembled. Instead of spending hundreds $$ on a professional spring making kit, I literally found a cheap bracelet making hand-coiler on the Zon for around $20. With a couple hours of practice, I had perfect DIY double torsion springs and was able to continue with the restoration 💯
Stick to wood working, the hacks shown here will kill people. Maybe not immediately, but overheating electrical is a major killer of humanity.
This is NOT how electric work is done. You need to stop doing it yourself if you think this is how.
@@joemonstermaker4784 Hi Joe, thanks for the reply. I didn't say this is how electric work is done. There are good tips in here though. As I mentioned, I'm not speaking to code and my comment shouldn't be taken as speaking to all aspects of the video, or "how electric work is done." With that said, twisting a wire in such a way it makes a better connection to a terminal is very helpful, as are some other tips in here. But yeah for sure, use caution when you do your electrical work, or hire a licensed electrician. I do some DIY stuff in my videos and I'm about done on motor restoration to post soon, but always safety is a priority as well as doing a good job. Let's check it! Take care 💯
4:10 not only is it a bad idea to use a non-electrical item to terminate a wire (to an in-wall receptacle of all things), those pop rivets are usually made of aluminum which absolutely should NOT be used with copper.

Hammering copper flat work hardens it and makes it brittle making it likely to let go in the wall, immediately grounding out and starting a fire somewhere you can't see.
Copper pipe may be of different alloys than electrical wire. Anytime there is a connection point of different resistances, some amount of heating may take place. It's best to use material approved and recommended for electrical use.
We need an electrician to vet all the dangerous ones from this video.
They pretty much all suck. Clever sure, but good? No. This seems like stuff I would have done when I was 16 after my high school electrical 1 class. I stopped watching after the conductive pens. Yeah it works, but you would never do that, that's like running bare conductors just attached flush to the ceiling. I want to see the person run their hand over that accidently with the power on. And most of these like the drilling holes in the screw head to twist wires, what you don't know how to use a pair of linesman? Or is it you aren't physically strong enough? So many unnecessary things, split a nut in half with a grinder to put in a vise to crimp with, sure use tools that are 2x or more expensive and the time it takes to make that instead of just getting a crimper for 15-20 bucks at harbor freight or any home supply store.
hi I am one please don't do any thing in this video, unless you want your house to burn to the ground. 90% of this is extremely dangerous, and the other 10% is doing a lot of extra work to not buy a 5 dollar tool
Also an electrician and 8:28 is literally the only single thing in this video that i or any of my coworkers have ever actually done, and even then i prefer cutting a marrette into a spacer bc it wont deform over time like wire will. These videos will get some clueless homeowner killed one of these days, nothing but code violations and fire/shock hazards. Or stupid hour long projects to replace a pair of linesmans lol
