    Question: I invest 6% of salary in employer Roth 401k, they match 6% dollar for dollar. Is it reasonable to say that’s 12% even though only 6% is mine? Or are we talking I should be doing 20% of mine, with the employer 6% just being bonus on top?

    • @ReginaldsKeiths
      @ReginaldsKeiths Місяць тому

      Easier answer - if you can save more, do so. I save 25% of mine without counting 6% of my employer match if that helps.

    • @ConradsViveiroses
      @ConradsViveiroses Місяць тому

      Any matching is free money, so you're already have a good start. Check the matching vesting period. I suspect your employer match is in traditional 401k funds unless the new option to get it in Roth 401k format under Secure 2.0 Act is available. In former leaves you with post/pre-tax situation so its a little complicated. You are responsible for the taxes on the Roth 401k match. What I did was stop at the full 6% match, build up a sizeable 6-12 month emergency funds, then open a personal Roth IRA and contribute up to the max $7,000 if you can. Roth IRA has a phase out limit of $158,000. After that, you can choose to max out Roth 401k at $23,000 or set up a regular brokerage account within the same institution as your Roth IRA. Good luck.

    Managing money is different from accumulating wealth, and the lack of investment education in schools may explain why people struggle to maintain their financial gains. The examples you provided are relevant, and I personally benefited from the market crisis, as I embrace challenging times while others tend to avoid them. Well, at least my advisor does

      investors should exercise caution with their exposure and exercise caution when considering new investments, particularly during periods of inflation. It is advisable to seek guidance from a professional or trusted advisor in order to navigate this recession and achieve potential high yields.

    Great video👍 often people refer to the “million dollar” mark for retirement. If you are 65 now, with 1 million in investments, and no debt, you’ll be good, with 60k in income from gains and SS.
    The problem is, for young people, saving for “1 million”, in 40 years will be worth~ 300k which will produce 10-15k/yr in interest income…I don’t want to live on 1k/mo in retirement!

    1 million isnt enough. Its possible, if you want to retire driving a 20yr old civic and eating bologna sandwiches and fritos for the rest of your days. 2.5m is the number. Gonna need minimum 20yrs as an average joe. 30 more realistic. Hard to tell a 20yr old to invest all they can, but tbh thats the difference between retiring before 60 or working till you cant enjoy your retirement.

    Great article. Watching for that event that puts stocks on a discount was well worth my time last year. Oil crashed. Oil related transportation went with it. Grabbed tanker and pipeline stocks. Best performer for me has been WES. Bought in April last year for $5.42 per share as it was well over 75% off in price. Today it closed at $20.66 per share, almost up 4X in price. The dividends on my cost of purchase due to the low price are over 20% returns annually. Looking for the next fire sale. Love a good market sale. Currently buying other stocks with a P/E ratio under 5 that pay dividends. Now own 3 stocks on the Dividend Aristocrats list. Was getting over $1000/month in dividends but FRO suddenly stopped paying dividends, even with a low P/E ratio. Held the stock to see what is up. They just announced buying 6 new VLCC tankers under construction. As mentioned in the article, look for signs of growth. Would be nice for the dividends to return at a higher rate along with value growth.

      Most experienced traders like Mr Elvis Hercules, would prefer to get the proper skills to analyze price charts in order to make their own trading decisions, but many traders, especially amateur traders, are still wondering really whether they accelerate their successful trading using only signaling services, don't get me wrong. Signals are good, especially if you find the right one, but it would also be wise if traders can analyze price charts positively and accurately and good trading results. If we take a close look at some of the main reasons people cannot make money investing / trading online. whether it is trading stocks, binary options, forex or cryptocurrencies, you will find that the problem is that traders are lazy and too dependent signaling services, and also do not understand the trade before starting it. So just in case it is best if traders, especially those who are still learning and practicing trading, should know these tips before entering any online investment scheme: 1. Use a signaling service. ... 2. Learn to use technical indicators. . 3. Trade stocks before trading binary options trading security. .. 5. Buy options of the right length for your trading style. For additional tips and trading strategies that can bring you $ 20-40 thousand per 4. Why live off the Dividends when you can live off the returns? The average annual return of an S&P 500 ETF (ie. VOO or SPY) over the last 10 years is 14%. Why not live off the returns and not touch the principal? For $1 Million that wouldn't that then be $140K pre-tax and about $100K after tax?

      The 14% average annual return probably doesn't take into account the real return rate or sequential risk. Take for instance a scenario in year 1 has a market loss of 50% and year 2 has a market gain of 50%. The average rate of return is arithemtically 0%, but your portfolio would have shrank by 25%.

    Actually, the coming inflation due to the non stop printing of dollars by the federal reserve will lead to even high divided yield stocks to give you less than the amount inflation devalues the dollars you have along with the value of the stocks you own. The best thing is to own physical assets that produce a physical yield which you can live from and sell surplus, like land that grows food. This is why Bill Gates has recently loaded up on an insane amount of farm land.

    Even if you won a 1mil lottery at young age you wouldn't put everything into RRSP/TFSA for dividends due to contribution limits. You can put it on non registered account but then you deal with dividend and capital gains taxes.
    Maybe after 30-40 years you do have 1mil on portfolio. Note that RRSP isn't a good place for dividend income due to the minimum withdrawal rules. TFSA that's the highest you can accumulate with SP500 investment and that only. TFSA is probably the best one to generate dividend income IF you don't use it for other short term investments like a house or a car. Problem is many people use TFSA as 'tax free shopping account' than investing for retirement.

You’ll be lucky to get a consistent 5% return if you put it in dividend stocks. Dividend stocks often change their dividend amount without warning. So you might get into one that pays seven or 8% and then later it might OK one or 2%. The stock market is a scam. I hope the crypto market doesn’t turn out to be a scam also

    Inflation is gradually going to become part of us and due to that fact any money you keep in cash or in a low-interest account declines in value each year.
