- The Fortnite Community Will Never Be Happy
After Fortnite's Dr. Doom Live event went down last Saturday there was a segment of the community that was unhappy with it. Forgetting that this is the first part of 2 events this season, the first half gave us a considerable amount of content. Are these players justified in their complaints, or should they be grateful that we're getting consistent live events to begin with.

the reason this event felt empty and it felt like it ended anti climactically is that epic intended it to last at least 2 hours but as epic always does they underestimated the damage output of the community

That, and I personally found it funny that a Doom that powerful did nothing much towards the players or rift taking him away. But ultimately, its a setup to a bigger situation, it made many people happy, and it did feel cool and fresh to engage with, so I don't deeply mind that
Sure but one thing, people are complaining that it was long even though it didn’t feel that long to me. I remember watching a video the day after the event happened when the guy says “ The first hour of the event his HP barely moved” and when he said that I was just like “ The event wasn’t even an hour long “ and I knew this because after Doctor Doom was defeated a couple of minutes later I checked the time and it was barely 12:00 pm

My only issue with the community is when people are watching the timer go down for a event. Is having players kill players during the count down I find it annoying

its not just fortnite, all games have that part of the community that will complain no matter what.

@ancientslav4863 Hot take: Every popular/mainstream video game or a game made from a big , recognizable company is overrated. Why? Because most people assume that just because something is popular and gets attention, they think it must be great.
This event was like a Polar opposite to Fracture. In Fracture we had a cutscene and then rebuilt the map for the whole event, and in this event we had a cutscene and then fought Dr. Doom for the whole event.
This live event helped me bring my friend who hasn't played since original Midas back, we commented that it wasn't amazing or ground breaking but that it was awesome and fun to participate in especially since we won the round we were in so it came with a bonus serotonin boost.
I love the concept of this event, it just shouldn't be community event where literally everyone has to work together to stop him. It should've at best been an 8 minute event in its own mode with doom having way less health. It isnt horrible, but far from the best

Agree so much, we compare so much to the past and retrospect that we can't appreciate what we've got. Guys, the past is the past, move on.

Ive started at ch2s1, never even seen ch1 before youtube,a nd even I can tell you ch4s4 OG was better than ch2, 3, 4 and 5 combined. if it aint broke dont fix it

i liked this event, and yknow what saying it was horrible is WILD, my only complain was the lack of like idk, tiny map changes after the event, like i expected the dry lake to be changed more than having a mask idk, i wanted the zero point to pop out 😭 but it was still VERY good lol
the problem with this event is that just like every fn villain, they go out in the lamest and bull shit way. bro had the ability to take down galactus and smart enof to take controle of the entire island from the shadows, yet he gets defeated by a random rift beaken that he didn't destroy. he went out like kang from ant man 3. this was the main villain of the chapter yet he went out in such a anti climatic way
My only real problem with the mini event was that it felt short for the final boss this fight was hyped up in the game it felt weird to just rift him away it feels empty no real ending.
not only that, but this was a person that beated galactus and is smart enof to take over the entire island, your really about to tell me he isn't smart enof to destroy the machines that were trying to stop him and weak enof to get owned by people with normal weapons? like ive seen people make whole videos about how this version of dr doom could win against any being in fiction because of the level of power this man had and the loor with fn and everything. yet he gets the janeric fn villain treatment were he becomes a frod
Usually, if a live event is big, it will have a timer in the lobby, if the timer is only in game, it’s meant to be a small mini one
Honestly i highly agree with this even tho I have some criticisms of the game but, sometimes the community says they dislike something they don’t really explain or think it out because it’s all the same. I want people to say their opinion but a lot of the times it sounds like complaining.
I have similar issues too.
I secretly have no problems with anyone complaining 24/7 about Fortnite content, but the thing that ticks me off is that they don’t give context.
They’ll just go “mid season” or “this sucks” and that’s it. Just looking at their comments in face-value shows that they’re nothing but ignorant assholes who just want to be a dick in the internet instead of someone who wants to actually voice their opinion.

I secretly don’t get annoyed at others complaining 24/7 on Fortnite content, but I’m annoyed that the way they did it. They won’t give reasons or any context, and yet they sound rude.
Their comments are something like “mid season” or “L item shop”. They basically sound like an immature jerk who likes being an asshole in the internet instead of someone who wants to voice their opinion.
“Not a fan of this season” would be much better than “season sucks”.
The only reason why I dislike the Doom mini event was because it was so short so I couldn't play it

At first I wasn't a huge fan of the doom event because I missed the cutscenes, but looking back on it, it waz pretty good

I wish that we would stay with chapters for longer, the past few chapters have been called bad because we just don’t have enough time with each chapter. If we just got live events like this for a few more seasons I feel like chapter 5 would sit better

I think i know what the problem is..the people who complain about every little thing (except the locker complaint and item shop) They glaze the hell out of Chapter 1 so much is because they miss being that kid or that time in 2018, they wanna relive that moment before they grew up. Modern complaining Fortnite fans were children and young adults when Fortnite started and got popular. They're rather busy remembering their nostalgic memories, and therefore unhappy with a growing game in a world where they themselves are growing too.

Metaverse is shit. RR and dancing is dead already. Lego barely gets 80K peaks, with usual 30-50k players since last update. This event was bullet sponge boring. CH4S4 OG had most people playing in the past 6 years, so....wtf r u talking about? I'm not a kid for years, haven't played CH1, started CH2, tried OG, been there for even the midas event (boring), and even I can tell you this was shit. So don't start bs about kids and OGs, when even regular guys like me smell that shit from a mile away.

Which event had less? Ive been there since 2019 and no event ever had less. This event was 1 npc standing in same spot shooting beams. You think this was hard to do? We got a loading screen. Hooray!!! my ass

@@faded4574 ya oviously, because that was like over 7 years ago, and they still hold up. not because it was just eye candy, but it was because it was building up for something else down the line. the rocket and the visitor became more relevant because of the seven, the cubs became a whole lot more interesting because of the last reality, the bunckers and the zero point became more relevant because of the I.O. thoes events left us questions for years and when it was explained, it felt rewarding. here on the otherhand, this was suppose to be the final battle with dr doom, the master manipulator of this chapter, a being that was smart enof to take over his reality and the island, and a strong enof being to take on everyone in his reality including galactus and harnessing the powers of pandoras box. and your really meaning to tell me all we get for that was a giant version of a boss npc with a redesigned dr doom mythic? i get it was a mini event, but i was hoping it was going to be the 1st battle untill the final one happened.

I just wanted to say that since I started watching your videos i felt a huge sense of relief. That's because i finally found someone who actually uses critical thinking and elaborates his thoughts in a way that shows how much you try to go above and beyond the simple and unfruitful judging by taste. Many people forget that their own taste or opinion is not objective and it doesn't define the object that they are talking about. Fortnite is a game with ups and downs. Full of good and bad things. Surely open to many criticisms. But saying that everything that Fortnite does is bad is just ridiculous. I played so many games in my life and rarely I found a game like Fortnite in terms of updates, events, marketing etc.. personally I enjoyed the Doom mini-live event. Even if I recognize that it's not the best or biggest event Fortnite ever had.
To be honest it felt kinda lackluster when doom was just taken down so easy
following epics logic, if doom killed galactus, and we killed or defeated doom with led bullets, we could have had just killed galactus back in ch2 with bullets and drop the damn busses
Ive been playing Fortnite since around 2019 and the doctor doom live event was my first live event all the others unfortunately happened while i was busy, i enjoyed this event so much, and i loved the cutscene at the beginning, epic cooked with this event!
I really prefer a mini event each season than a big event each chapter or just cinematics each season, it makes fun the last weeks of each season
I'm new to Fortnite, 5 was my first real dive in, so I realize how little weight my opinion holds, but I can say I tried playing during some of 3 (I think?) a few years back and I don't have a genuine reason why I dropped it and moved on (I can't remember but that says the reason was largely like my feelings on that chapter, unimpressive) However, I do have a reason for coming back and trying again and I think that's the most awesome part about Fortnite.
I like that the possibilities are near limitless and that in my little nerd life I can use characters and elements from so many different medias and I love that!
I regret missing some of the story (Some incredible recaps and storytelling videos helped fill in many of the blanks.) but I appreciate that in their clearly intentional, well-crafted world of FOMO Fortnite makes each new Chapter, heck each new Season, feel fresh and interesting in some way. They don’t have to. Not only because it is a free to play game but because I just truly think they could do hardly half and still make decent bank. There have to be people who are actually trying to make a cool game or the people who like to cut corners and save money would have won more than half of the meeting disputes at Fortnite HQ.
Are there better free games? Yeah, sure! Of course there are.
I guess I just have a hard time understanding the act of putting so much energy into something negative. Why not move on amd check back again later? Or don't. You decide.
I don't know what it was like "back in the day" and I think part of me will always be a little bit disappointed about joining late but for the most part I'm just glad they're still invested in trying to make decent content as they move forward. Do they like money?? Yeah! Who doesn’t? We all like it, love it, and want some more of it. I can't judge that when it is obviously not the only driving force behind their choices.
For such a fun and hopeful game that has the freedom to be many things and try many things I find it baffling that so many people in the game's community are toxic and dissatisfied with everything that the game does. I dislike some of the things and I have no past precedence or grudges to cause those dislikes so I can only imagine how much stronger the feelings are with that history behind them. It has to suck!
I just worry that so many forget, while yeah it is pretty impossible to make everyone happy every time; Fortnite does a good job of juggling which category of the community they work on and still manage to do it while keeping consistent updates flowing.
With that in mind, when a game is loved by millions and millions of people it can be easy to forget the ones screaming and shouting this time aren't always the same ones the next time.

Im convinced that if the c5 seasons released in 2020 then they would be so loved right now.
A reason I liked this live event was because this was my first live event I had experienced for myself, not just watching it on youtube or other platforms.
Also this was a mini live event not a big one, so that is why we did not get a lot

I thought that for a smaller live event, it was alright. I feel like Epic Games was experimenting with this one and that a community led boss fight was a clever idea.
Biggest thing people tend to forget about this game, purchases are optional, the game is free, if you miss og play reload, if you hate the game stop playing it.
Well, Reload build mode has more players than regular BR. So yeah, players have spoken. And btw, the game is only free as long as microtransaction exist. so its not free per se

As my first true TRUE live event (Black Hole barley counts because it was 90% ad), I absolutely loved it. I hope that this event proved to Epic that people do want them, along with the story. I entered during Chapter 4 so I didn't really get to experience live events or much of a story, but Chapter 5 has really brought me back in. Actual story, voice lines, mini events and live events. I really hope Epic will continue doing this for now on and hopefully next chapter will be even better and crazier (please bring the Seven and Geno back)
Also as someone who loves the Multiverse and even wrote a fan story where series like Star Wars, Marvel, DC, ATLA, Attack on Titan, and many more existed in a Multiverse, this game lets me experience that, which is something I never thought was possible.

I’ve was unfortunately deep into the Apex community for a while and I can firmly tell you that if you made a Fortnite player play apex and be part of the community for a year, they would have so much more appreciation for what Fortnite does.
Apex players seriously get excited for cosmetic events where the whole thing is *only* $160.
That’s insane. And Fortnite players get upset that we’re getting live events again.

I am happy with where Fortnite is going rn because I feel like after a damp storyline in chapter 4, this is an improvement. What I really think is happening right now is that Fortnite is transitioning into a new era where they are starting to find a nice middle ground.
I barely missed the live event by like 10 minutes.
I honestly like this season so far, the only reasons why I don’t is Cap’s shield and people being petty (In 3 different games a person just followed me across the entire map). Besides those this season is really fun, I’ve also liked every other season of chapter 5. I also do like the multiverse thing, even though it could’ve been better it’s still super fun
I genuinely enjoyed it. Taking on one of Marvel’s most notorious Villains with 5.7 million other players was awesome. One thing that I personally wish we got is if it was its own mode. We could have gotten a mix of old and new marvel powers and have damage increase over time. But I understand that it was supposed to be a community event.
Although I do miss the big events we used to have gotten from previous chapters, I do admit this is a good compromise. Chapter 4 with barely any events except the Big Bang event felt empty, so these mini-events sure are a work around, and especially this live event is a step up from this chapter! Sure, the ending was…eh, but in terms of events, this is a step in the right direction.
I’ve enjoyed all of chapter 5, but the only thing I haven’t enjoyed the most are the live events, not everyone is ungrateful, just some people like things that others dont like, such as contents in live events, it’s inevitable that a certain group in the community will be unhappy
My issue with live events is that it’s a one time thing. I wanted to do the live event but that would’ve been around 3am for me as I live in Japan. Having kids does not grant me the opportunity to do the live events anymore. I don’t hate epic for that it’s just how things are. I wish they’d add on a playable event after the live event that people could do when they log in. It could be similar to when they introduced the primal season. Just have you and/or your team fight doom and all the other people are just npcs. They’ve generated npcs into live events such as they did with Skyfire. (The event not the badass Autobot.) it would give people the chance to experience it at least to some degree.
I look at this game from an oldhead perspective. Fortnite does it at a level no one else does, and they only really compete with themselves in terms of scale. Even at its worst, Fortnite is still the most interesting and dynamic live service game out there.
It was a good event however for future community events need to have way higher of a goal as it should have been a few days or so. I just think that’s some constructive criticism for future community events to be better. I’d say aim to make it similar to the length of the events in og season 8

Agreed. Look, I like epic games (or at least the devs who put in a lot of hard work when it comes to the actual game) but that doesn't mean they can slip up. This events has it's problem with putting player in a public lobby while fighting Doom which meant that trolls can easily kill you. Also this was really underwhelming to the storyline and made Doom look like a real pushover in the middle of his own season. It's bad that the Cube Queen felt more threatening than this version of Doom. (WHO HAS KILLED GALACTICS)
After Fortnitemares arrived, my expect is that some of marvel items and weapons needs to be vaulted for limited times lol
I dont think its a bad event, it was just hyped up a ton with a teaser trailer and stuff, something like the Pandoras Box event was a crazy surprise and interesting because we've had little like it before, however we didnt get a ton of teasers or confirmations from the Fortnite twitter or youtube and were just put to our own beliefs, nobody bats an eye and nobody becomes annoyed.
Its not the event itself, its the high expectations that were set by Epic Games
(tbf tho i think it wouldve been cool to get a damaged style for doom like how we got a style for eminem in the big bang)
To complain about mini events is crazy we didn’t have one all of chapter 4 and now we finally have one that has a cutscene which we haven’t seen in a year since big bang. Yeah I miss the old live events but at least we’re getting things
imo this is more of an extension of the internet in general being a toxic echo chamber. Every fanbase has moments where everyone seemingly unanimously disapproves of a change or addition of something in their media. Epic should continue doing their own thing and take risks even if it’s entirely disliked at first.
Crazy how people are complaining when we’re getting two live events in one season, this is the first time this has ever happened.💀

Personally I had a blast with the live event. It was my first one and I was glad I got to participate, I know a few friends that weren’t able to and they were really bummed they missed it I’ve enjoyed Fortnite this chapter
This wasn’t the best event that we have had but to say that this was the worst is crazy.

Completely agree with you, Klarque. Epic Games has done a great job and, yes, they try new things which, inevitably, will alienate some of the player base BUT that's how games evolve rather than staying stagnant and dying. I've been playing for 7 years, I take a 6 month break when I get burnt out but, for my money, Fortnite is the gold standard. I am very excited to see what Epic plans for Chapter 6. I am also hearing that epic may launch an open world / strategy type mode, which would be awesome.
I think this event would’ve been much better if instead if it lasting over multiple games, Doom had much less health and could’ve been defeated in a few minutes, it would’ve felt a lot like the older events
This event was fun as hell and far from lazy. One of the things I love about this chapter is consistent live events

Do you think we will eventually see a day where there is v.r live events and possibly VR exclusive live events . Obviously there is one logistic holding back this idea being vr isn’t easily accessible . But maybe just first person mode for live events ?
be honest the only thing i dont like about chapter 5 is like they rush this chapter and the whole multiverse stuff
My issue isn’t the content we’re getting but fundamental problems that I have of chapter 5, such as mods being pointless, guns feeling bad to use, ect. I think the live event was phenomenal but a little short, but I liked it! And I liked a lot of the season themes that we’ve had, but I just can’t bring myself to the game because it doesn’t feel good to play
The live events are like watching party events to club penguin. They celebrate the ppl who play and enjoy the game…the community. Doesn’t matter if they are terrible or not. We are still experiencing the event together and having a blast.
I remember last year when me and a couple ppl joined to watch the Big Bang (season og event) and one of them decided to first play an emote that lets a lot of ppl join (and lots of them did). The. Afterwards the same guy decided to do the train emote and said line was long as heck. Didn’t matter if the event was shit. It was still something I enjoyed cuz I was with friends.
This was the best event since big bang in my opinion, and best in chapter 5. Ppl need to realize that these events are only supposed to be mini events with the map that help to develop the storyline of the chapter until the very end. Plus I appreciate that we are even getting in game live events at all. Chapter 4 had none of those which in my opinion made the storyline bland, un progressive, and just boring as fuck. I understand that many might have not favored this event, but personally I did like and appreciate this event. Plus there is still another live event before the end of Season 4 that will transition us to Season OG, this didn’t happen in chapter 4 when it should’ve.

I miss live event concerts like the Travis concert on the island not some creative uefn map, not saying they are outright bad, but I wish they would do the concerts again on the island because it was more enjoyable and fun that way
My biggest problem with this event is that once it started u could still be killed so there was a bunch of sweaty looseres killing us every game one dude with the jetpack arsenal u name it they had it bro killed all 20 of us just dancing and vibing like bro why
This is my second live event i have seen (I basically missed everything expect rig and this recent one) I kinda am new to Fortnite cause I did play in previous chapters but not much. I came back in og and I slightly liked it but not much I didn't basically know how to use any guns. I basically started my journey in chapter 5. I love this chapter. I know it's not a good one but it's enjoyable for a "new" player like me. I know there is stuff to improve and I think this chapter is like a test chapter like you said, Charlie's chapter 1.

I feel like as I've grown older I've realized that there hasn't really been a period where this game has been abysmal or terrible (Yes, it has had horrible seasons, but that doesn't mean you couldn't play the game or there weren't people who were actively enjoying those bad seasons) and I've really taken things for granted in the past, I used to loathe C2S8 for really petty reasons, but as I grew older I realized that the season was in fact amazing and bombarded with content.
The majority of the Fortnite community are under 17 years of age, that is why.
Everything about this live event was very fun... until that ending.
The reason I don't like this live event is because of how anti-climatic it was to just successfully teleport Doom away without ANY narrative casualties. Every villain has been defeated so easily in this chapter, and I just wanted Doom to have some kind of trick up his sleeve.
I hope Doom comes back before the session ends so I can fully like this event since the event itself was fun, but wow did it lower the stakes of the story for me.

The Dr. Doom live event we just had was so cool and it was the best event we have had since Collision this event was so good and the best event of ch5 but we will have a huge live event before ch2 OG as well so this huge one will be really good hopefully
I personally only really started playing when my friends from school invited me in Chapter 5, season 2. From that point until now, I've been loving and grinding the game. Sooo much fun, especially with my little brother. And the doom live event was our first live event. Awesome 😎 #lovefortine
