Hello, thank you for your question. If your machine is one with a self-cleaning condenser, it will still take water from a separate source into this container, so that it can be used for the cleaning of the machine.
      Hope this helps! - Brett

Even with draining the condensate container right after every drying cycle, over time a sheen of very fine particles (and possibly some growing stuff) collects in the container. This is to be expected. None of the instructions I've seen from Siemens or any other brand recommends how to clean/sterilize the inside of the condensate container. HOW DO SIEMENS RECOMMEND that we occasionally clean the inside of the condensate container? Would a dilute white vinegar solution be ok, for example?

Hi, we would recommend to make sure the condensation container is emptied after every use and allow to dry to keep it clean. Thanks.

@@SiemensHomeUK Wow, did you even read what I wrote? I acknowledged exactly that already, and asked what further cleaning methods are acceptable, given that these instructions are not sufficient over the long lifetime of the equipment! I'm very disappointed in you.

We cannot recommend to use anything in the condensation drawer. We can only recommend to empty and leave it to dry after every use. Thanks.

@@SiemensHomeUK So, you recommend letting it gradually gunk up with accumulated lint, bacteria, and whatnot, by being a mostly-enclosed container that, even though it "dries" naturally, of course even under the best of conditions will accumulate stuff over the years. That's really healthy and smart, Siemens. (that's sarcasm).
