THE BEST SNSD album is here (sometimes 2nd best, when my love for Motorcycle in Love&Peace takes over haha), and i literally mean BEST SNSD not just BEST SJJD album… it’s actually a crime that this album is not available on Spotify… but now that I have NCT Dream version of this album, i’m pretty sure I’ll listen to this on UA-cam even more than the original. Without further ado, here goes my ramblings of the tracks Flower Power: Jisung opener was kinda insane because why does it fit him so much. I love how you chose Ridin’ because the aesthetics of that MV to Flower Power is so close, and also Dreaming Mark 🥹. Flower Power has a lot of talking/singing lines and I like how Jaemin suits those lines so much because of how naturalness. Renjun leading that chorus was insane and I love the scenes you chose of him from Ridin MV. Also I noticed how you gave the ‘dedashita Human nature’ to Mark even though it’s a Taeyeon line (also like in Paparazzi where you gave Mark the ‘hide and seek’ line). I always love your lyrics distribution because even though you have a default preference (Taeyeon/Seohyun = Chenle, Tiffany = Haechan, Jessica = Renjun), you also don’t fixate on certain positions and is willing to distribute the lyrics in the way that fits the song the most which I’m sure is why your covers always come out so naturally. I have listened to this version so much, I can automatically recognise who’s gonna sing which parts next… seriously what did SJJD lace in their songs for all their songs to be this addictive… the Mark/Jisung and Mark/Chenle duo parts at the outro fjdslfjadslkajfd you did that for this wangmori lover didn’t you. Show Girls: THIS BSIDE. THIS VERY BSIDE. Is exactly the kind of top tier bsides I feel like I could experience through AI covers because SM A&R being stupid as they are, would never allow 7Dream to release something as groundbreaking as this. I don’t understand why only older groups like TVXQ, Super Junior and SHINee to a certain extent, would release jazzy and funky bsides like this. Even their most jazzy recent releases like Better Than Gold, cannot convey the full theatrical sound like SJJD’s Show Girls. The layering for the outro starting from 10:43 til the end of the song is just so intricate and complex, my jaw literally dropped when I first heard it and I had to listen to that specific part for like 10 times and I still can’t fathom how you did it, it’s just INSANE. ヾ(⌐■_■)ノ♪ Reflection: It’s so funny because when this album first came out, I always considered Reflection a lite version of Flower Power. Until I was able to watch the live performance of SJJD at Tokyo Dome, I was so wrong, this song belongs in the museum of honorary SM bsides. It was one of my most looked forward tracks and of course after listening, I immediately thought 7DREAM need a japanese release like this. THIS KIND OF EDM JAPANESE RELEASE. No shade to moonlight and bfe, but HOW can they compare with SJJD title tracks, when even just their bsides are top tier like this. My favorite part is definitely the ‘mieru Reflection, atsui Connection, kanpeki na Affection’ line throughout the tracks and Chenle’s adlibs the most at the end when other members sing ‘I see my reflection’ Also those Renjun/Haechan/Chenle high note near the end toooo absolute chef kiss（づ￣3￣）づ Animal: The first time I ever read the translated lyrics for Animals, my first thought was umm… did SJJD steal this demo for a boygroup song??? And now to be able to hear it with 7Dream vocals on it is just literally my dream come true. The drop at 17:33 is absolute the best part of this cover, because the way it’s built up to drop dramatically is just chef kiss perfect, Chenle adlibs through out the final chorus too. And I love how you used the Glitch Mode live performance for this song, because the editing of the choreo to Animal is just so perfect. (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ) TOP: out of the first six songs, I can confidently say TOP is the one where the vocals are soooooo crazy similar with 7Dream vocals, i’m pretty sure if you tell a casual kpop stan that they’re listening to an unreleased NCT Dream demo, they would believe it. Also can we talk about that bit where you match Haechan singing “Join with us goin’ on” with that scene of him in Glitch Mode!?!!??! pure cinematic excellence. You must believe me when I say 100+ views on that MV is me and me only (ToT)/~~~ you simply won’t get how obsessed i am with this song. my ringtone used to be SJJD’s ‘hello hello moshi moshi ciao ciao busy busy’, ever since you’ve posted that Beep Beep MV, it’s now NCT Dream’s hello hello moshi moshi. Mark/Tiffany designated English lines saurrrr true. Chenle singing Taeyeon’s Kiss de kuchi ga fusagaretenai nara god i rewind that specific line on repeat like crazy. I like the bit after Mark’s lines 26:50 and the harmonized ahhhhh right after his lines. I love Renjun and Haechan’s high note beep beep beep near the end. The difference in their vocal tones make the song soooo interesting. Honestly Stay Girls is such Dream vibe song… I can’t listen and not think about how we have actual 7dream songs with similar vibes but even those dream vibe songs can never hit as strong as these SJJD bsides (SJJD we miss you everyday, please come back the people need you). Another banger layering final chorus at 31:30, there are just so many overlapping parts but they come together so natural.
