That swim diaper is a must for my Little, he wants to make his own but if this exists now then I need to show him!
I wore disposables for years. It was a chore to keep throwing them out. Then I began thinking about the waste. I switched to cloth. Real adult diapers made by Babykins. Wash them, dry them but you have to do it right. Very comfortable and soft. If you have to wear diapers, in my opinion, very nice.
Felt compelled to comment as I have been sewing my own PUL covers for about 9 years now.
First lets talk about hook and loop/velcro. While it is great for the perfect fit I can guarantee the velcro will fail long before the PUL does. I had to replace the velcro on several covers before venturing in to snaps. PUL has some natural give and stretch to it so you can still achieve a comfortable fit with snaps. Snaps are the way to go for longevity of use without maintenance.
Now lets talk inserts. Synthetics are great for feeling dry even when the diaper is at capacity. However, synthetics don't actually absorb anything. They will hold but once any pressure is applied (sitting, crouching, thighs squeezing together, etc.) synthetics will loose almost all of the fluids they contain. Natural fibers are much better at absorbing and holding fluids. There are a lot of fancy, expensive inserts out there made with exotic natural fibers but cotton is no slouch. I have been looking at Zorb from Wazoodle www.wazoodle.com/ (I buy may snaps and fabric there) and there are lots of reviews about how absorbant their products are. The cost of those fabrics have kept me in just plain cotton terry or flannel. Maybe someday I will give it a shot to see for myself. There are also charcoal infused fabrics that are said to help control odor. I will be trying one of these inserts very soon and will update this post with my findings.
On to extra gathers and leg gussets. These may or may not be important to you for only one reason. Weather you are fecal incontinent or not. If you are not then you don't need the added protection and cost of extra leak guards. The covers I sew for myself only have leg gathers and they protect me just fine as I only urinate in them. I just make sure that the measurement across the middle will cover the thickness of the insert I am going to use. If you are fecal incontinent then the Rears style is definitely the way to go. The added gathers in the terry top sheet will help control leakage much better.
Another company worth taking a look at is EcoAble ecoable.net/ Prices are comparable to Rears. I just ordered one of their sets which includes a prefold bamboo cotton insert and a snap in charcoal bamboo insert with a PUL cover. Again, look for an update to this post on my findings.
So that is my two cents worth... or maybe more? I'll let you decide.
So, after trying the fancy diaper with it's fancy materials, I must say I am thoroughly impressed.
The charcoal insert is made up of (what feels like) five layers all sewn together. The top layer is 100% rayon from charcoal bamboo. The next three are on the label as 100% microfiber (actual material unknown) and the last layer is 80% rayon from bamboo and 20% polyester. The prefold is 70% bamboo and 30% cotton.
I was pleasantly surprised with how much it absorbed and how well it wicked after only a couple initial washes. The charcoal infused layer did amazingly well at controlling odor and the layers of microfiber did well at distributing wetness and keeping a dry feeling. The diaper was able to absorb about half of what my usual twelve layer cotton terry stuffer is able to hold at only one quater of the thickness (measured by weight). Did I say I was impressed already?
The fancy diaper ran me almost $40. My home sewn runs about $25 for materials. Add in the time it takes to sew and apply snaps and and $15 seems like a pretty good deal. Add another prefold for $17 more and it starts getting a bit pricey to bring performance close to my home sewn diapers. To me it's worth the extra cost. These materials perform better, keep odor down and seem like they will last longer than what I currently use. And they are much more comfortable!

Just a warning for you guys! Microfiber causes a lot of wicking! It’s kinda like a really damp spot instead of fully leaking. The best alternative for dryness and no wicking is definitely a flannel or bamboo insert. This isn’t 100% effective but you’ll end up with a little less stains on your clothes and a lot less stress about it. :)
The last one I found out is really good for someone who keeps ripping diapers off
have tried several varieties of these and they work fine, although two pads is definitely better than one. The problem ended up being my wife balking at the extra laundry. I even did the laundry on these myself, but the smell of the bucket for them, when opened, and the length of drying time turned my wife against them. So back to the megamax at night and bianco ultra-stretch during the day.

Can pocket diapers be used just like disposable diapers?
I know they are adjustable do they fit a person 3x or 4x
who carries them they look interesting
I’ve tried them for a year and over time I had too many leaks out of them so I packed up on them and went back to the disposable pads as they held more pee than dose four layer micro pads okay.
I want some cloth diapers like that
I dont like cloth diapers I'd much rather wear regular plastic backed diapers

An adult pocket diaper can also be useful when combination with a standard disposable, either and/or, if your stck with lesser quality diapers that it can give a little added security and protection, additionally when I wore underwear I liked pairing my printed tee shirts with coordinated pair of undies, well if I'm wearing a color scheme that doesn't reflect the options in my diaper supplies then no problem I just pick a pocket diaper that does go with my outfit, and bam almost just like when I wore undies. Just because I'm incontinent doesn't mean I have for go style.

Based on your video I decided to try cloth. I bought the deluxe. From what I’m getting it comes with that one bamboo insert, how absorbent is it with that alone?
What if we are DLs or people that just prefer the feel of wearing a diaper without using it and wasting disposables? Would these be a smart choice for those people?
don't get me wrong. I'm all for saving the planet. and when you consider that each disposable take up to 500 years to decompose in the landfill, it makes sense to use cloth. I have tried. u spent, £135 on two threaded armer products, had them shipped to the UK and they were not as good as I had hoped. cloth just donsent seem to hold as much as a disposable... tell me where im going wrong. because I want to do my but. as we all should be dong

It’s really not that bad, we are still using disposables but have added these over as sort of a secondary measure to protect against leaks.
