I've looked at a lot of Power BI tutorials and this has been the only one that I've been able to sit down and watch for a straight hour without wandering or doing something else. I love the presentation of the material and I feel like I'm really learning along the way. Thank you!

What a godsend!!! I had to jump off of another tutorial because of the trainer's monotone voice and lack of interaction. You have your students dive right in and incorporate the learning as they go! Pleasant, undulating voice, perfect tempo...I'm enjoying all of it and will be back tomorrow and the next day etc. (partial days) until I complete the 20 hours.

Another great tutorial found on Learnit, heading to learn more, thank you!
Another method if you cannot link the HTML file (34:00):
Get Data, "From HTML" -> Choose the HTML file in the Exercise 1 folder, it will pop up a new window for the file, copy the table, then go back to "AllRegions" -> Power Query Editor -> right-click, "new query", choose "blank table" -> then paste the table of HTML file, rename it "Continents" -> Close & Load. It shall be ok.

The tutorial is good but the actual Power BI tool visualization stats only after 1:15:00, so you may want to skip to 1:15:00 if you are already familiar with Tableau.

Thank you for this tutorial. I would like to inform you that there are some mistakes to your files. For example, when I load the Employees file, the data type in column 'AveStPay' is Text, while it should be Whole number according to the video. That's why when I tried to create the visual, as you suggest, the calculable visualization type didn't appear as in the video. If anyone is confused, you can fix it by selecting the column 'AveStPay', go to column tools and finally select data type : whole number instead of text. Same for 'GrossPay' 2013, 2014, 2015.

Thank you so so much for this information. Finally, I can breathe with ease. This part has been giving me a lot of concerns as my PowerBi couldn't replicate Chelsea's bar chart visuals. I thought the problem was due to the version of PowerBi I am using. Thanks to you, now I can continue with her tutorial.

When I used the Page-level filters for the Region and clicked on the United States in State, this produced two sticks of bars and not a long bar chart consisting of the several Region in the United State. The issue is at 1:47:08 of the video. Please help. Thanks

1:31:42 On the newer Power BI, the color saturation isn't in the same place. You must turn on Data colors in the format tab and then click on the "fx" next to Default color to change the divergence.

I hate to sound pedantic or needy. I am so grateful for these! Just a quick tip: When screen recording and training, a higher resolution really helps clarify the smaller text. It would be more awesome if these were recorded in 1080p or even better; 1440p (or 4K :) )

Hi. Thank you for the introductory course. I find it interesting though it only gives a taste of Power BI and does not really provide a practical knowledge for doing Power BI afterwards. It does not explain the interface in a comprehensive way to enable users have a useful knowledge for continung on their own later on. It is just a taster and that is all. You need to learn lots of things later and properly. But if you have never heard of Power BI this is a good start. I definitely suggest taking a paid course version of this same group (Learnit Training) or use a good text book later. Good luck

Hi Chlesea, i'm not sure if I was missing a step here but the day 1 'Employee' file was a text/csv not an Excel. I had to move it into Excel and convert the fields living wage, avestatepay, gross etc, into a calculable format.
Great tutorial! Thank you so much.

Great teaching tool, one thing so far though, I don't have the same visualization panel as the teacher, mine does not have "saturation"
too bad, I love that feature

    • @belindawise8034
      @belindawise8034 4 роки тому +6

The "Color Saturation" is found via the Format tool within the Visualizations column, click on Data colors, and then click on the fx box. This will bring up the tools to add the saturation effect.

The sheet from Table1 is identical to the GeographyAsia sheet at around 18:00 so I am uncertain what you mean by there is absolutely no reference to table between the two unless you were referring to the name itself. There seems to be a difference to be noted at this marker. Please clarify? Thanks.

After Appending GeoEurope and GeoNorthAmerica to GeoAsia, the final outcome does not include any entry for GeoEurope and GeoNorthAmerica. It only shows entries for GeoAsia and the rest are empty cells. However, it gives me a correct count of rows and columns. This happens after I have clicked close and load. In the Query Entry, all entries are visible but not after I have loaded it in. I can't get pass this
