A Laney Ironheart was my first real amp back when I was a teenager, but I slowly swapped over to a strictly helix live rig. Love the Ironheart. Very usable clean channel, and the boost can make it really tight.
Very spot on with your Laney sound assessment. I just sat front row directly in front of Vernon Reid at a show last week and he had not one but two Ironhearts as part of his current rig. Sounds exactly like you said, very sludgy, a dated sound and sonically a bit dull. But it works for him I suppose. Great analysis!
Cool music fact: When Jerry Cantrell from AIC was tracking DIRT he used Laney and Friedman amps and Evh Music Man guitars that Eddy gifted Jerry at the end Van Halen tour summer 1991 I think that's why DIRT sounded more Doomy and metal than grung Just a thought 🤔
@xanderraymondcharles Honestly, I'm struggling to shift away from the Archetype Gojira. I really found my sweet spot with it, which makes it tough to transition to something else! 😆
Sludge, doom and grind. I’m a rhythm player and this is exactly what I’m looking for. I primarily play funeral doom, death/doom, symphonic doom with some acoustic and operatic elements. Seems like a good fit for me.
The amp sim is perfect for me. Alive in the fingers more than any other plugin. The boost also seems so different than tha previous amp I used to own. Looking forward to check one of the new batch and if i that good I will get one!
@@xanderraymondcharles your welcome bro. I'm curious how u came up with the riff, where you messing around one day figured it out or just got inspired by another artist?
Having had this sim since the Saturday after it was released, it is a break for me from the usual batch of amp sims, I have used in on a video that I found to be satisfying my need for the sonic mudslide that "Citrus" amp sims don't deliver, I do agree with you it's not for everyone.
I've got a Laney Ironheart 60 and I used it live for a while. Its a great Amp in a band situation, Really cuts through the drums and the bass, I have no idea why but it just works.
haha im literally sittin next to the amp version this second. It was my old coworkers head, and he let me use it for a slam band I was in. Its a pretty nifty head.
Have you tried running a boost from an actual pedal into the plug in? Maybe a hotter inital signal would tighten it up better than any of the built in boost... Personally i like the sludgy tone but I'm not a metalcore guy haha
Can I ask a question? When you record your plugin demos do you have to record separate tracks each time you change the tone? Or are you recording on 1 track and able to change the tone from there?
It didn't live up to my expectations. Not bad at all, but compared to some other guitar plugins I couldn't get the texture I wanted even after a few minutes of setup.
While it sounds really really good I just tried it a few days ago it's extremely noisy. Like irritating level of noisy with both gain channels. With the given overdrive turned on it's a nightmare and I know nothing's wrong with my guitar as I played fluff's free amped roots plugin and stl tonality howard benson. Both extremely tight and quiet while playing high gain metal. Just something wrong with this plugin itself
Im pretty sure Killswitch used this amp for there live sound for awhile. They also used Alex LIfeson's Hughes and Kettner signature amp back in the day too. You playing a Rush riff reminded me of these random useless facts!
Dude the intro is the sickest riff ever!
Thanks bro!
He has a knack, don't he?
Thanks for the demo and sick riffs! 🤘
Bro sick riff! Your killing it man.
hey thanks! Doinng my best!
Brrroooo that intro riff is so sick!!! i love your riffs and this is another level stuff!! banger 🔥
Great video mate ! Love the way you are reviewing gear :)
Thanks a ton!

I dig the tones and glad they made this very affordable 🤘🔥🔥🤘
oh man that for the fallen dreams riff takes me back
I love your videos man, you seem like such a genuine dude
Hey thanks so much!
Love Laney and I love the plugin. Been jamming with it all day today. Feels so good. Cranked it loud af.
Man, your chops. So good!
Hey, thanks!
Man that's a very cool plugin! Very interesting Riff in the intro! The Harmonics sound great!
Hey, thanks!
Nailed that Spirit of Radio intro. Hell yeah
thaks! it's a classic riff!
Lol Mr. Notremolo out here with the sickest Floyd use in a while. Your random 180 on trems has not only been fun to watch but wonderful to hear.

Dat Floyd Rose riff dude 🔥🔥🔥
thanks! Yeah i love it too haha. Def will become an original song

I was keen on picking this up.
Not so sure now - bit too sludgy - as you said.
yeah not what i was expecting. take my findings with a grain of salt, as it could work great for you. But for me yeah it was a bit too sludgy idkkkk

Sick riffs, as always
thanks so much!
That FTFD riff though🔥🔥 throwback

Haha hey thanks so much!!!!

those poor knife edges lol

From an OG: that riff is one of the best I've heard in like 20 years 🤘
Hey thanks so much!
Aurora DSP's stuff is super underrated. I HIGHLY reccomend the Rhino plugin. Feels like a plugin you'd really like.
Love the Rush 😊
love the Rush riff
The ultra luxe is really becoming truly your own dude!

The gain on this thing is more like a rottweiler growl compared to a 5150 being more like a wolf snarling at something

I own an ironheart 15 head and the studio i frequent has the 60w heads. That amp sim sounds like an ironheart alright.
Nu Metal tones from the early 90’s? I can kinda hear it. Also, how is it on CPU usage?
Off topic bro, what string gauge do you recommend for drop C? Im trying to play some 7dust
12-60 would be my recommendation
The real amp definitely sounds tighter than the plugin, at least the way I have I dialed I’d have to try the plugin to compare.

how do you buy this?

We need more of that intro riff. It's too fun not to be a real song. 😁
Rush
Spirit of radio

You're starting to build the same level of articulation you have with pinch harmonics with the whammy bar(sic). 🤘🤘🤘
Wow, thanks! I've finally fallen in love with the whammy!
You ruined that strat… I fucking love it.
hahah heck yeah! That was the goal!
