  • Easter also known as Pascha, is a Christian festival in remembrance of resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead
Pascha is a Greek and a Latin name
Resurrection of Jesus Christ is a citied proof that even if we died we will be resurrected in the last day as Thessalonians 4:14: says, For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him."
The week before Easter is referred as Holy week
Easter is linked to Passover and the Exodus from Egypt, the Last Supper, sufferings, and crucifixion of Jesus that took place before the resurrection.
The last supper, Jesus took the bread and cup of wine where he identified the bread as his body and wine a His blood. He was preparing his disciples of His death
Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday respectively commemorate Jesus's entry in Jerusalem,
Easter is a moveable feast. What that means is, it does not fall on a fixed date neither in the Gregorian Calendar nor Julian Calendar. It is determined by a Lunisolar calendar which is similar to Hebrew calendar
Counties where Christianity is the predominant Religion Easter is a public holiday.
Good Friday, which occurs two days before Easter Sunday, is also a public holiday in many countries
    Julian calendar
Proposed by Roman Consul Julius Caesar it was a reform of Roman calendar
Took effect on 1st Jan 46 Bc
Designed with help of Greek Mathematicians and astronomers
It was effective for more than 1600 years until 1582
Has 2 types of calendar a normal one of 365 days and a leap year of 366 days.
Its cycle, 3 normal year and one leap year giving an average year of 365.25 days more than the actual solar year of approximately 365.2422 days.
This means Julian calendar gains 3.1 days every 400 years while Gregorian calendar gains 0.1 day over the same period.
The Julian calendar is still used in parts of the Eastern Orthodox Church and in parts of Oriental Orthodoxy as well as by the Berbers.[1]
A lunisolar calendar is a calendar in many cultures, combining lunar calendars and solar calendars. The date of Lunisolar calendars therefore indicates both the Moon phase and the time of the solar year, that is the position of the Sun in the Earth's sky.
The Hebrew calendar (Hebrew: הַלּוּחַ הָעִבְרִי, romanized: HaLuah HaIvri), also called the Jewish calendar, is a lunisolar calendar used today for Jewish religious observance, and as an official calendar of the state of Israel. It determines the dates for Jewish holidays and the appropriate public reading of Torah portions, yahrzeits (dates to commemorate the death of a relative), and daily Psalm readings, among many ceremonial uses. In Israel, it is used for religious purposes, provides a time frame for agriculture, and is an official calendar for civil holidays, alongside the Gregorian calendar.
    Gregorian Calendar
Modification and replacement of Julian calendar. This was proposed by Pope Gregory XII
Introduced on Feb 24th with a Papal Bull and Came into effect in October 1582
    Principal change was to
1.space leap year differently, so to make the average calendar 365.2425 days long closely approximating 365.2422 day that is determined by the Earth's revolution around the Sun.
    2. To correct the excess leap days introduced by Julian Algorithm caused the calendar drift such that the Northern Spring Equinox was occurring before its nominal 21st March date.
This date was important to Christian church because of it importance to the calculation of the date of Easter.
The reform advanced the date by 10 days. Thursday 14th October 1582 was followed by Friday 15th October 1582.
The reform also altered the lunar cycle used by church to calculate the date for Easter because the astronomical new moon was occurring 4 days before the calculated dates.
Gregorian calendar whilst the minor changes, it is based on the same geocentric theory as its predecessor.
Gregorian Calendar is used in most parts of the world.
    Rule for leap year:
Every year divisible by 4 is a leap year
Except for years that are divisible by 100, but these years are leap year if they are divisible by 400. E.g 1700, 1800, 1900 are not leap year but 2000 is
In Western Christianity, using the Gregorian calendar, Easter always falls on a Sunday between 22 March and 25 April,[56] within about seven days after the astronomical full moon.[57] The following day, Easter Monday, is a legal holiday in many countries with predominantly Christian traditions
Eastern Orthodox Christians base Paschal date calculations on the Julian Calendar.
In the 20th and 21st centuries, some individuals and institutions have propounded changing the method of calculating the date for Easter, the most prominent proposal being the Sunday after the second Saturday in April. Despite having some support, proposals to reform the date have not been implemented
