    I'm pretty sure that Alys does actually exist in show. Remember that last episode Simon Strong said they sent Alys Rivers to Riverrun to help Grover Tully, so she must exist if Simon says that.

    First? 😮
    33:28 While yes, it was a blackish-brown mound Ulf stepped in, there were eggs and amniotic goo inside. I had a discussion with someone online & ended up taking pictures of my TV to show them- there's like 3 or 4 there. I doubt he stepped on an actual egg, because Silverwing would have been pissed. He just broke the crust of the clutch casing.

      Yeah, it's like when Damon chiseled the outer shell to remove the eggs from the egg sac in the last episode of the first season. The eggs themselves are completely fine, checked on my second watch through.

    I've had a long standing head canon theory that Larys has been actively preventing the greens from taking action against blacks inside the city. It just feels like that's where they are going with his character.

      My other fan theory is that, dragons initially bond to the person to which they hatched to and will let the person they imprinted to ride them, but when that person dies they go into the dragon and meld, and their personality determines who they let ride them after they become one. But a dragon whose bonded person is still alive or died without melding can be ridden by anyone but are essentially just fucking normal dragons and will kill just about anyone that looks tasty and the only thing that Targs have going for them is that they are actually wargs and can live on within the dragons post death

  • @willowpackerthestoryteller135

    I liked Ulf’s finding Silverwing if only because it makes the point that no one really knows how dragon bonding works. Maybe Silverwing thinks he’s funny.

    Great episode for many reasons, not the least of which was the opening scene between Addam Rhaenyra and their respective dragons. Emma Darcy's transitions from confrontational to curious to hopefully optimistic and *smiling* at the end, absolutely murdered. I also loved the way the dragons through their roars, growls and other vocalizations, the moods of their riders. Prediction: No Battle of the Gullet this season, that's for sure. It'll end in a cliff hanger about the Gay Abandon which will be the lead story thread in season 2B's premiere which will also be about the Black's take over of King's Landing. A win and a loss....

    I was a huge fan of how that scene with the dragons went down, She got her riders for the wilds, and the rest of the bastards were bbqed so the greens cant use them against her when they figure it out.

  • @veridan4363
    @veridan4363 5 місяців тому +3

    Am I crazy? Am I the only one that didn't buy Jace's hissy fit this episode? Them being bastards hasn't made much sense to me anyway. Yeah, they're bastards..... She's also the QUEEN and has CLEARLY legitimized them (like Ramsay Bolton in GoT) AND declared Jace heir. Also, raising up non-Targaryen dragonriders was HIS IDEA. Also, NO lord or lady of ANY high house would ever argue a "mongrel" from Flea Bottom, dragon or no, would have ANY claim. Jace's crystal clear lineage is rock solid, he IS the queens son, full stop.
    Also, the dragonseeds, with their white/silver hair, corralled in the dragonpit felt and looked EXACTLY like sheep sent to the slaughter. I thought it was stupid when Lord Darklyn was offered SEASMOKE, the dragon who's rider we and Rhaenyra know was last seen alive. Now she's got 20+ bastards caught in the splash zone of dragonfire, without teaching ANY of them a lick of High Valyrian, and didn't instruct them to NOT creep towards the giant flame lizard as a GROUP when only ONE can be chosen. STUPID! Rhaenyra is a failure of a Dragon Queen. A child with a nuke.

    • @SapphireSolstice67
      @SapphireSolstice67 5 місяців тому +2

      I disagree. Jace has fair points. Rhaenyra is just like Aegon IV, but instead of giving a sword to a bastard, she’s giving a dragon. Of course the heir would be worried. Lords might see a strong silver haired dragon rider and think “are we to give the throne to Harwin Strongs Bastard instead of The Conquerer-come-again”. Jace is not legitimised and his bastardry is a political issue.

    • @veridan4363
      @veridan4363 5 місяців тому

      @@SapphireSolstice67 But she could legitimize him, if she hasn't already implicitly by naming him heir, no? She's the head of her house on top of being queen of the 7 kingdoms. I feel like that should trump any issues politically. I'm not saying it's any less scandalous, but from a strictly procedural viewpoint, it fits.

    • @ameliacraiig4193
      @ameliacraiig4193 5 місяців тому

      @@veridan4363 But, isn't that the raised issue of this whole civil war? Viserys very publicly legitimised Rhaenyra time & time again. I know the fundamental dispute lies on the very patriarchal premise that she is a 'mere' woman, but if _her_ claim can be contested, it isn't a big stretch to assume that down the line, the woman whose heirdom is called into question, can be discarded along with her demand.

    • @veridan4363
      @veridan4363 5 місяців тому

      @ameliacraiig4193 Not exactly. The civil war is because you have two factions claiming they were *_directly_* named heir by the previous king. The ONLY reason Rhaenyra isn't already on the throne is because the Queen Dowager claimed the King changed his mind, alone, with no other witnesses besides her, only moments before he died. Make no mistake, if Viserys wasn't blabbering about Aegon the Conqueror to Alicent, Rhaenyra would have become queen, unchallenged.
      Also, I think you're conflating "legitimizing" and "declaring heir." Rhaenyra IS a legitimate heir, born of King Viserys and Queen Aemma. Legitimizing in this context is referring to the custom of raising a bastard child to the status of "trueborn" and granting them the rights afford as such. Such as, taking the family name and having claims to an inheritance. Declaring someone your heir, while typically closely aligned with traditions of inheritance (e.g. Firstborn son), can be used to circumvent "standard" practices.

      No. Otto & the council already had plans to put Aegon on the throne. Alicent's misunderstanding only served to make *her* complicit in the scheme. You think their ploy rested on the claims of a Dowager Queen mistaking The Conqueror for her son Aegon?! It didn't.

    Well after Rhaenyra sent them boats full of food, it's understandable most people in kings landing are on team black for now... until they get hungry again 😖😖
    Ulf stepped on a clutch of eggs & woke up silverwing. She probably thought, "wtf did i gave birth to" but he smells like dragon goo, so she says "oh well, fine, you'll do" 🤪🤭😆😆😆
    If Lord Benjicot turns out to also dislike Willem Blackwood, then I can see why all the houses in the Riverlands, even the brackens, unite to support Queen Rhaenyra's rightful claim.
    Agreed, MVPs: Lord Oscar "the grouch" Tully & the dragonseeds. Ser Simon has been low key hilariously entertaining since his on-screen introduction 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
    Yep losing the dragon keepers definitely played a part in dragons disappearing. Bcoz after this civil war, none of the new hatchlings grow into adulthood. And the eggs they have left all "turn into stone".
    Also agree, s2 pacing so much slower compared to s1 ~ which covered approximately 20 years. This season feels like it only covers 6-8 months since vhagar chomped down on Luke above storm's end.
    Oh & are you aware your camera's are shaky???

      "This season feels like it only covers 6-8 months since vhagar chomped down on Luke above storm's end."
      It does feel like that, but Alicent mentioned to Larys in episode 4 that it was only weeks ago her husband Viserys was alive & the realm was at peace. So this season covers an even shorter time span.
