- I Applied HIGH VOLTAGE to Electric Toys! #6 (DANGEROUS)
In this video, I connected some electric toys to the WANPTEK DC power supply using wires. I continuously applied increasing voltage to the toys, starting from 5V and going up to 30V. Increasing voltage results in the generation of larger current in the motor, leading to an increase in torque and speed. The resulting effects were both exaggerated and humorous. (Easter Egg at the End)

The really surprising thing about these videos is just how robust some toys' mechanisms are. We always expect the audio features to go early on, but I often expect mechanical gearing to fail way earlier than it does.
Remember, these are toys for children, they are bound to get tossed around like a BotW link ragdoll. They gotta be made to last to be worth the purchase.
I do love it when they finally strip though
It also gives a look into how do the digital parts function. The first one seems to have the frequency tied to the voltage...or maybe the audio is actually analog and mechanical in nature.
What I've learned so far: Around 5 volt is where the sound begins to fail. Around 30 volt is where the quiet returns and magic smoke is generated.

I personally would like to see more fine control between 5 and 8 Volts. The audio chips seem to die there, and i would love to know more about their absolute limits and the effects (they seem to get off-pitch at 7V, will it return to normal after a little bit of 7V? Or will stay so wierd and continue being out of pitch?) Also perhaps playing with a reset happy current limit could be fun.
