Fitting V&H Eliminator 300 Slipons and sound check on Harley Davidson Heritage Classic 114

- The stock pipes on the new Milwaukkee Eight Harley-Davidson motorcycles are quiet and slightly restricting.
In this video we take off the original baffles and replace them with the Vance and Hines Eliminator 300 slip ons.
Sounds easy! It wasn't!
No Stage 1 upgrade needed! No ECE tune necessary, just bolt on and go.
We also do a sound check with a decibel meter on an iPhone to compare the standard pipes with the V&H slipons.
The results were way better than expected!
Hope you all enjoyed the video! Please don’t forget to like the video and subscribe for more!!
Sounds better! Just really glad you swore while you were working at it. All the clips I watch and everything goes perfect and fits just right. Not in my world! Always helps to cuss a bit and thanks for being real.
Jeff Shultz absolutely! Nothing goes perfectly in my world either! Thanks for the support 👊🏻
Music to my ears.Well done!👏👏👏
Thanks buddy 👍🏼
Perfect sound, nice and deep rumble at idle, nice rasp when underway. Not too loud for the neighbors, but the cars will know you are there. Cheers from the
U.S.A. Thanks too for showing the struggle, nice to know it's not just me.
Thanks buddy! It was a hell of a job!
I've owned an HD shovelhead ,Evolution, Twin Cam, and now a M8 Heritage classic.
Never kept the stock exhaust on any of them. Love the sound of your eliminators. I have a black 2019 Heritage Classic that
looks like yours except it is a 107 not a 114.
As I am also going with eliminator 300's, I hope they will sound as good as yours.
great video by the way. Cheers ...Dan
Dan MacDonald Thanks for your interesting comments! The Eliminators will 100% sound awesome with the 107!
it would be a lot easier without the bags xD why didnt you put them down^^
Great video love the bike 😎 I have a softball slim with v&h pipes. Nothing like it.
Beautiful bike, I was thinking of getting one before I got this! 👌🏻🤟🏻
Word of advice - better put some copper grease while you're at it - so much easier to put them on and take the mufflers off next time ..
Rik Herlaar Thanks Rik! Definitely will if theres ever a next time!
Thanks man, good simple video : )
G S thanks glad you enjoyed
Love the sound and looks great 👍
Thanks buddy!
I wonder if I just drill through the original mufflers? Great video. I love your fig tree. Do you get a lot of figs?
Lol. Yes we get a few, but not hot enough really
Thanks for this and maybe for a different reason as I intend to put the stock ones back on soon..making a trip to Europe and I'm concerned that the VNH I have recently added might not be welcome ..I also kind of regret putting them on as they are noisier thru the helmet when riding..
They do sound great.
The Jersey J Yes I’m certainly really pleased with the sound
Nice deep rumble. Removing cats will unleash the true beast
Austere Graunt Sure has! Loving it even more now
Cool video again :-) The thing however seems to be your camera is reproducing sound really really well, and maybe even a bit better than reality? Still...great sound. Extremely deep and pleasant.
Fabien H Yes it does seem to pick up the sound well. 👊
@@MrDarcy-OlMan One can better be well equipped in that case :-)
Great video!!👍🏻
Thanks! Glad it's over!
Great video. Did you re tune the bike or just use the stock tune?
Kevin Champion bike is still stock no need for a re tune unless you want to
You definitely need a re-tune. On the 2018 Softails the cats are actually in the mufflers so when you replace the mufflers you are deleting the cats. This causes a significant reduction in back pressure and you will get a lot of decel pop. I run a V&H FP3 along with the V&H Twin Slash Exhaust. Works like a charm.
Sounds good boss!
Thanks buddy 👍🏼
Nice video just got the same bike think I am going same route
Rudy Eignor awesome, you won’t regret it!
Thanks just subscribe to your cannel really enjoy your videos
Rudy Eignor Thanks! Many more to come!
do you have a loud drone on highway speeds? These sound great but when you do a 1000 miles, will it give you a headache?
Aleksandar Vicentic there’s no drone at all!
@@MrDarcy-OlMan thanks for getting back to me so soon! I'm sold, getting the bike this weekend!
Aleksandar Vicentic awesome! Hope you enjoy it 🤟🏻
Sounds good!
Geoatv Campatv Yes thanks! It’s got a lovely sound 👊
I found an eliminator for half the price used. Good deal or better off brand new?
That’s good. Should be just as good. 👍🏼
What about gasket
No gasket required
I thought in Europe the o2 sensor is placed back there?
It is now. This was made before the change 👍🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan yeah just read it’s from 2021 and up. Going to put the 300’s on mine once I get it. Thanks for the vid’s on the pipes!
103db idle? thats already 7db more than legal db level in my country, and you should mesure at 50% rpm.
Blimey! Don’t tell anyone 😬
Those pants!
Use WD-40 , a little where the muffler slide into place helps a bit . A block of wood , and a rubber mallet will if needed . Ride safe .
Yes good idea! Luckily I won't have to do it twice!
Hi just got a 2021 Heritage Classic 107 and thinking of doing the same as you, but Harley dealer said warranty would be invalid unless I had the full stage 1 done by them.
Sounds good! Your lower slip on sure was a sob to get on! Like NC Stoney, and although I went with Rineharts, took about 20 minutes total to get on. And a few others comments on that smoke. Don’t think that’s normal.........safe riding and enjoy that new music!
Yeah does seem a bit smokey but it’s not normally so I’ll keep an eye on it!
I don't understand why Harley Davidson don't install better pipes on their bikes to start with, considering what you pay for their bikes.
Nickolas Kays it’s the regulations unfortunately
Loved that vid...reminds me so much of myself.when Ive done some modifications or work to mine it always involves more time and skin from my knuckles. Accurate and reflective video of some decent DIY.
Thanks haha yes a 5min job always ends up being an hour!
Thankyou.
Just a wee bit of WD-40 would have helped slip the mufflers on a little easier Mate!
Jeffrey Love I’ll remember that for next time!
Uh are you aware it is smoking ?
Freedom Rider pretty sure it’s just clogged up from the stock pipes
Nice upgrade. Yep, pipes. So many to choose from and the "What do I want to live with?" question is a valid one. I like the V&H.
Did you change either the 114 air box or the paper filter? I’m having the V&H 300 Eliminators installed on my 2019 FXBRS along with a dyno tune using the SE tuner on 9/20/21. The dealer claims that the 114 already has a high flow air box but I’m not so sure. Hopefully I don’t have to spend another $400.00 for a new air box and high flow filter. Yours sound good but looked like a PITA to install. I’m old, I’ll let the young tech’s enjoy the installation. 😎
Nope all standard, just the slip ons. You don’t need to change anything else for slip ons on the 114 unless it’s a 2021 model
@@MrDarcy-OlMan The dealer installed my 300’s on 9/20/21 and did a dyno tune using the SE tuner. They look and sound great and I’m not getting decel popping thanks to the tune. Thanks for the recommendation. 😎 PS I left the stock air box and filter on and it seems to be running fine.
@@barackblows1942 Awesome 👍🏼👍🏼
Damn! Now those sound good.
Ride hard.
Porkchop's Papi Yeah what a difference! Feels more lively too
Sounds great - can't wait to get them for my 114 Fatty
Yes they sound even better in real life. 👍
@@MrDarcy-OlMan they drone a bit
Leo Van Vliet Ive not noticed that on mine
A few wee swear words there lol 🤣
Stephen Forrest ahahah
Was there no exhaust gaskets required? My Rineharts required the stock gaskets in the pipes.
Walt Stovall no gaskets required surprisingly!
I have the same bike. Really wanted these pipes after watching your review. The struggle had me a little concerned and I found many complaints about fit when scrolling through the reviews. Then I stumbled across this on Amazon:
Features & details
WILL NOT FIT: 2018 Softail Deluxe, Heritage Classic, Fat Bob
3-inch Round Muffler Body
Available in Chrome or Wrinkle Black
Optional Quiet Inserts 21947
CNC Machined Billet End Caps
The slipons I fitted said that they were for the 2018 Heritage Classic. The mechanic at my local Harley dealership said that sometimes they are hard to get on, sometimes not. In hindsight, I would have got some emery cloth and widened the slipons a bit.
I have got to stop watching your vids as your turning me into a cruiser fanboy. That said, maybe there is room for two bikes in my garage - one sport/one cruiser🤔
You can’t beat a cruiser for cool 👍🏼
I have rinehart slip ons on mine and noticed it lightly smoked on start up like yours. Have you had any issues with the smoking? Or is it normal?
Yes it’s normal. It’s usually the fact there’s no cat and it soon clears up. Mine doesn’t do it any more
@@MrDarcy-OlMan thanks for the reply brother! Ride safe!
Where i get V and H Eliminator. Want a better sound
At your local Harley Davidson dealership
Sounds good for sure though.
Freedom Rider thanks!
Sorry to laugh at your expense but I enjoyed that. We've all been there but end result was worth it. Thanks.
splodge 57 haha glad you were entertained by it
I just put my V&H Eliminators on my 2019 Heritage. I put the pipe with the logo on the top and loosed the pipe clamps before putting them on. They went on really easy. I wonder if that was the difference?
Richard Obuch That’s great! Hope you enjoy that roar! I loosened everything and greased it so I was just unlucky!
Hi, your videos are a mine of infos. I have the same bike. Very much interested to change mine as well. It doesn’t show on the video but did you have to put any kind of gasket between the slip ons and the pipes? Thx, cheers.
Thanks 👍🏼 No gasket required
Thx, thats what I thought. Have a nice riding day.
Sounds fantastic. Did it do anything in regards to power and when purchasing a bike new how long do you recommend before changing stock pipes or would you change them straight away
Thanks bud! Yes definitely feels more powerful and responsive! Lots of people fo it straight away but sometimes it’s nice to wait then it’s like having a new toy again
Were you able to compare the eliminator 300 and the Rinehart 3.5 inch slip on.? If yes, which has the deeper sound neighbor friendly slipon? Thanks
I’m afraid we haven’t heard any of the Rineharts yet.
not slightly restricting, the screamin eagle cannons are restrictive too. I installed RCX exhaust on.my heritage .. the V&H sound good. hard to tell sometimes by video. the M8 engines need to breath..
James Moorer Yes definitely. Since fitting them it can cope with lower revs and picks up better
I put RCX header on my 2018 Roadglide and had a bit of fitment issues. I had to make modifications to get the rear pipe off the transmission cover then the support bracket wouldn't line up. Made spacers to push the pipe out and thought all was well but the front pipe heat shield is touching the floorboard bracket. Its on but I don't know whats going to happen to the front pipe over time rubbing on the bracket. If it causes a problem I will remove the pipe and go with V&H power pipe.
anubisgodofgods Makes my problem seem less! Hope it works out ok!
Yea man! I'm getting those same ones thanks to this video. Thanks
No worries glad we could help! You won’t regret it!
I had the same Eliminator 300s put on mine before I picked it up. Mainly down to your videos. It sounds fantastic. Thanks for your help.
Excellent! Thanks buddy 👍🏼
Excelente Felicidades. Saludos Desde La Ciudad De Puebla México
Every great undertaking cost you in time blood and sweat as well as money usually but just listen to that lol nice job
Keith Birdsong Thank you my friend 👊
Great Video thanks for the post... I have question was necessary to have bike Dyno tuned after installing the Eliminator 300's ?? Thanks again
Hey, no you don’t have to, I didn’t do any tuning at all
It does state on the box that the slip ons arrive in to fit a Fuel Pak, I asked at my local dealership and they said if you don’t fit a Fuel Pak the rear cylinder runs rich.
Marks Harley We’re definitely going to fit a fuelpack soon. It seems to run fine without it but I’m sure it will run better with it
Thanks you for your video ! I think that I choice the V&H Eliminators 300 for my Héritage 114ci ! 😊
Sounds tight.... nice deeper growl 👍🏼
Thanks man!
I'm doing mine tomorrow morning! hope it goes well.
Fingers crossed! I should have levered the opening wider on the slipon. If it doesn’t go straight on (apparently some do) try that
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Thanks for the advice mate, I'll defintely look into that. I'll let you know how it went :) hope you well there.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan SO I did mine and huge fail, one of the lower alen screw head was damaged somehow and it took me 3 hour just to deal with that and still not succeded.. Pissed after that and need to bring the bike to the shop tomorrow...
@@LionSharpAction damn! It’s not as easy as the name would suggest (slip on).
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Yes :/
Super 👍
very nice! Love that sound.
Thanks! Yes indeed 💯
Cat is in the muffler you removed. Did you have to tune your bike? Will the change in back pressure hurt the engine? Please advise. I’m looking into doing the same on my 2021 street bob.
It’s a bit different now for the 2021 bikes, but the ones without the C02 sensor in the tail pipe is simple. No issues with back pressure. I didn’t tune mine and it runs fine. You can get a v&h fp3 tuner and do it yourself on your phone.
I think this will be my next bike... Pipes will be going on right away ;-)
Awesome!
i fitted v n h twin slash cut slipons to my 114 heritage, sounded great, just tried v n h short shots fitted a couple of days ago different beast alltogether now
GARY WILLIAMS Cor I bet that sounds great! 👍
Gotta say it took some patience getting the oem cans off. Sure enough, they'd been installed dry.
So, washed off any blow-through and dirt on the ends of the header pipes with WD-40 and cleaned that off with Lemon Pledge and paper towels; then applied a VERY thin coat of Permatex 81343 high-temp anti-seize to the first 1/2" or so of the OD of each header and about the first inch of the IDs of the mufflers... and they slid onto the pipes like butter.
Be sure to clean everything up well afterward so the chrome doesn't get stained when it heats up.
My mufflers are the same as each other, except for the Vance&Hines logo. I'm guessing they say to put the muffler with the logo on the bottom (front) pipe on the Heritage because the saddlebag would hide a logo on the top pipe. The top pipe on a Deluxe isn't hidden by a saddlebag since the Deluxe doesn't have them; so the logo shows best on the top (rear) pipe on the Deluxe. (If you put bags on a Deluxe, you can swap the mufflers so the logo will show. Or not. But can swap them more easily if you use anti-seize for the first install.)
That’s the way to do it!
Everyone I asked said they just slip on. 😬
I put the same pipes on my 2018 Fat Boy, they were a bitch to get on and lined up just like yours were. Great sound though.
It’s worth the trouble for that sound!
Definitely, sounds more like it was meant to now.
Huge improvement👍👍
Yes isn’t it !
Is that an app you were saying that was used to record the decibels?if so what’s the name of it, I want that!
A Ninja it’s called Decibel X - give it a try 👍
They sound great, I think I'll go with these on the Heritage I just picked up.
Yes they sound alive!
Great video, even better commentary, they sound great too, glad after all that. Keep up the great work.
Thanks mate
Thanks a lot.
Pro tip use some Windex or wd-40 when putting new pipes on helps to go on easier
Thanks for the tip
Excellent sound from those V&H pipes. Thanks.
Glad you like them!
You put up a hell of a fight sir! The exhaust sounds incredible!
Rene Pena Haha yes! It was hell but worth it
Hi MrDarcy & the Ol'Man!
I bought the same slip-ons for my Fat Boy 2019, but i have a terrible problem now, mi bike smells a lot of smoke, and I noticed that there is a smoke leak betwen de union of the eliminator and the original mufflers, right where the clamp goes.
Did you have the same problem? Thanks for your help.
Regards.
Aldo De la Cerda I had the same issue. Brought mine to Harley just yesterday. Did you resolve your issue?
@@MultipleInterface I would like to help you my friend but i took my FatBoy to Harley and they said that the problem is a Vance & Hines design.
Al my clothes smell horrible jaja. I suppose there is only 2 solutions, welding or put the originals again 😪
@@aldodelacerda6671 I took mine back in and it runs great now!
No leaks on mine. It’s so tight nothing is getting out!
Time for a fuel tuner now that you changed the exhaust characteristics.
Kenneth Reynolds I understand that I don’t need one. Would you recommend it though?
@@MrDarcy-OlManyes, the bikes run lean from the Motor Company to pass regs, making it flow better adds to the lean condition. I use a V&H Fuel pack 3 on the Fat Bob, it works well.
Kenneth Reynolds OK sounds like a good idea!
MrDarcy & the Ol'Man check to see if it will affect your warranty first, the HD tuner won't but I have no experience with it.
Kenneth Reynolds good point, I’ll have a chat with my Harley dealership
A little spray of wd40 would of helped out man.... Nice bike!
Michael Mitchell Thanks bro!
As always. Great video mate. That’s a nice deep sound.
Thanks very much!
Sounds nice
Sounds Awesome 👌
Yea definitely 👍🏼👍🏼
👍👍👍
Hallo, after change exaust you must change mapping also, becourse engine wil work more hot??🤔
With these slip ons you don’t have to but it is wise to do so 👍🏻with 2021 and newer models in the EU you will have to regardless as there are more co2 sensors in the rear which need mapping out.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Thank you answer fast!👍
I live in Thailand and drive a FLHCS 2019.

Sounds good, forgot to smash the like!
pmdinaz thanks for the like and support!!!
