    I will never understand how a man can be so incredibly abusive toward a woman, then turn around and tell her what a "nice guy" he supposedly is. Genuinely nice guys don't feel any driving need to proclaim themselves as such; instead, it shows through in their every action.
    I was raised to be a gentleman, and the first step on the road to becoming a gentleman is learning how to be "a gentle man." If you can't manage that, you might as well just give up any and all hope of *ever* finding a good woman to share your life with.😉

      @@amiable_monster I don't know about that, but I do know that some women often end up getting involved with abuser after abuser. As it happens, my own niece (and goddaughter) was involved with one such abusive @$$hole, and had a child by him; now she's involved with an even more abusive monster and has a second child by him, as well. Last year, my sister paid good money to put my niece and her children in a hotel to protect her from the @$$hole, only to learn that he was also staying with them almost from the start. He knocked out four of her teeth and broke her jaw shortly thereafter.
      Now she's about to lose her children to the Children's Aid Society, and she thinks she can beat it in court, which shows how delusional she is. They have compiled more than enough evidence, and she will soon lose her children, possibly forever if something drastic isn't done.
      As her uncle and her Godfather, I'm going to have to take certain steps soon to deal with this abusive monster. I know she'll hate me for it, and I'll probably have to end myself to avoid spending many years in prison, but something has got to be done about this @$$hole, and soon!
      If only someone could just wave a magic wand and make her stop thinking she loves him and he loves her. Instead, I'll probably have to deal with this myself.

      They just think that being nice is a title they already achieved and have to show it in very specific ways, instead of being a characteristic they have to work for and mantain constantly, not deciding who deserves it or not. They want to be "nice guys", but dont want to become a nice guy

      @RiveroftheWither 2 роки тому +54

      Not so much courage as it is a necessity. Being in a public place is not so bad but walking away from the crowd can get scary. Especially since I'm small, thin and physically fragile due to medical issues so apart from the classic ball kicks and attempted eye gouging I wouldn't be able to fight off an assailant. That said there are a lot of tools and tricks that women are being educated on that helps lessen the anxiety, like carrying pepper spray or my go to which is to pretend you're talking to someone on the phone. Creeps are far less likely to approach if they think you have someone you can call for help.
      I won't say every woman thinks about this but a lot certainly do. To the point there are channels and articles dedicated to spreading this advice, even common code words you can say to bartenders or cops to let them know you're in an unsafe situation without tipping off the potentially dangerous guy.

Depending where you have there may be similar systems specialized for those cases that can help you, as Pharos operators themselves says that local cops may not be very willing to hear about online stuff. Also it makes me think, here, since the threat isn't immediate, you do have to physically go to the police offices to file a complaint (here), they certainly won't do it by phone. In your case,they may take you more seriously if you go there in person and bring your phone, and/or printed screens of the messages, or at least it will be harder for them to just ignore you since it's always easier to hook the phone rather than shoo away a real person.

    I literally had this weird situation the other day where a guy dropped a really shitty "joke" and I told him that this was crap. I didn't block him, because we were already talking a while and I wanted to see if he rescues it (if it would have been his first message I wouldn't have kept talking to him for all the money in the world lol)
    He then replied with something like "But I meant that serious and literal"
    I gave him a chance to rescue it even though he didn't deserve it, and he somehow made it worse. also he is one of those who say "I'm not one of those" basically everyday, and thinks he is really really empowering to women while he is just about at the baseline of respect and won't blurt our any slurs. And I am not even a woman, I am nonbinary, but honestly... at this point I'd be surprised if I found someone on that hellsite that won't misgender me.

    On the Emotional blackmail thing. Please also do not emotionally blackmail YOURSELF into staying with someone. There is nothing more offensive, rage inducing, and damaging to a person who struggles with connection, TRUST, and depression than to for literal months be made to feel like they have somehow done something to upset you, desperately try to make amends and figure out the problem, watch it all backfire on them and make the situation worse because you don't want to be the cause of someone doing themself in. Because eventually the dam will suddenly break and you will end up saying something like "I'm worried you're gonna kill yourself if I walk away!" None of us can read minds, and you will be making it harder on the people that come after you because they will have to deal with the damage you caused. If I trust you, of course on bad days you will see it, and it may be bad weeks or months or a year (thx covid). Also if you DO end up doing this...do not BLAME THEM for reacting negatively to your 'altruism' of suffering 'being their friend'.
