Yes it was, but at this moment he did not know its only a projection - HE accepted that this is his REAL face and the nice smooth one is the mask. He did not have his wings back yet so he could not show that. So this was needed for Linda to accept that Lucifer wasn't talking in metaphors - but he speaks the truth.
The ending is rushed and stupid but worth watching the whole series. it is a masterpiece (well, ignoring that in some cases he is less of a celestial than just a charming police consultant.)

The big boss cursed the serpent to never speak and to crawl on its belly in the dust. the first time we see Lu, he hadn't had the falling out and was walking and talking.
The Serpent was Lilith, clearly female in all the earliest mythology,. In the early depictions until the 1500s. For instance on the Sistine Chapel ceiling, and on the Notre Dame, it's clearly a Lamia.

If you back off & look at it,: If you wanted everyone to be as evil as possible, you'd fill them with fear and guilt and tell them to abandon reason and have faith only in you. Everything is forgiven except not believing and no amount of good works will earn grace or forgiveness without blind 100% belief and trust.
Honestly, who but a thoroughly indoctrinated sheep (they call themselves a "flock") doesn't understand that any being that demands worship and adoration under penalty of violence, is inherently unworthy of any trust or love? Directly in proportion, the more they demand and obviously crave to be loved, the less worthy they are?

Just wanted to state - the issue with bible, like you pointed out - just because that is what ended up written in it, doesn't mean that is what happened. There are very clear cases today - that the written record is completely wrong with in hours of an event, yet alone thousands of years. Also, how many times has the bible been re-written/changed to suit the whims of those in power at the time. Like you pointed out, there was no torture in hell at first.
And again, I have been saying it for 20 years - The Devil IS THE GOOD GUY. According to the bible - all the Devil really did was try to teach, guide and help humanity while ''god'' well yeah you summed that up damn good to be fair. I am team Devil myself.
Apart from Lucifer, Dr. Linda was my favorite on the show. A great character and perfectly casted and played.

It really pissed me off the way people reacted to his face and to finding out he was the actual devil. They all acted like babies. I would have accepted him as is from the start, and if he showed me his face, I'd have been like oh, cool resting devil face man. And moved on. I saw what a good person he truly was and would have accepted him.
