- The mod is finally back up and running! I stayed up until 5am Sunday morning editing this video after the mod came back online Saturday night, only for UA-cam to refuse to process the video. So here we are days later and the video is finally up after I pulled an all-nighter for no reason! Galactic Contention is the best way to experience the Clone Wars first hand in a 50 vs 50 battle! The mod is a 40gb total conversion mod for the PC game SQUAD on Steam! If you're a Star Wars fan I would highly recommend trying it out!

Gotta say, Yavins new textures combined with the day and night cycles with dynamic weather made for one of the most amazing GC experiences ive ever had
The whole team using comms to relay to each other that we needed to use flashlights and then relying so heavily on them was so cool! The super dark maps can get tiresome sometimes, so having total darkness be dynamic is such an amazing idea and made for some cinematic moments
@@Bullwon Same here, having to actually utilize the flashlights instead of NVGs made for an unforgettable experience, part of me hopes they just remove the NVG from the layer!
@@_coolagain_ the nvgs barely work anyways as they’re just a filter, but yeah I loved the pitch black

Omg. I don’t know if it’s just my own mind playing tricks with me, but somehow those graphics and textures on the clone troopers look better than ever.
I do believe they received an update! Mandalo does an amazing job on the models!
Lighting on many maps got completely overhauled and clone textures too

The maps are amazing. The other day u was playing Felicia with day/night cycle, and during the night, where everything glows, it started raining. Now sure it made it laggy as heck but it was beautiful.
And now the fixes for the mod.
As most people already know, the clones have been completely screwed over, while the droids are pretty much godlike beings compared to them. The B2 and Magna is pretty much invincible, and the clones cannot aim for literally anything.
But my personal bone to pick has gotta be jump pack troopers being bugged. Before the update I loved to do airborne corps, where we would jump out of the LAAT, but now, only like 1 person in the entire team can use jump trooper. Idk if this is a bug or an actual thing, but please change it.
Overall the game is amazing. So much fun. It’s good that it’s back.
Forgot to say vehicles are nightmares to drive as of now. The controls are so icky.

ive been playing this mod since yesterday I love the new update! though I've noticed a couple of small things like: weird invisible walls and logis feels like they are on ice. But besides that this mod is great I'm so happy to see it come back after so long

Whoa I don't remember the maps looking so good, did Squad or Galactic Contention get like a graphics update or smth ? All planets wsre absolutely magnificient, especially Ryloth !

What is your opinion on the ico in gc? Currently it’s 70% of vanilla sway, many people like coolagain say the sway should be reduced and I agree, i feel like the sway after sprinting is a bit too much. Thoughts?
I agree, especially for single fire reset recoil - which I think the devs already said will be fixed
@@Bullwon yeah, the main complaint coolagain had was the insane amount of time it takes (like 5 seconds) to stabilize your weapon after sprinting and in that period you cannot hit a droid like 30m away and I think he made some good points in the discord thread, but I think rather than massively nerfing one aspect they should adjust each aspect a little, and it should be different for each weapon (for example I think the z6 is in a great spot right now with its low recoil but high spread)
@@Bullwoncoming back to this, I feel like what they’ve done is a step in the right direction, but maybe too big of a step. They need to push it back up a bit imo, everything feels too easy

Honestly yeah I think I will get Squad & GC. Arma 3 just can't cut it, especially with the vehicles (A ground vic can only be wheeled or tracked ;-;).

I'm new to this mod, was driving this floaty before? it's kind of a nightmare on certain maps.
Can't count how many times i flipped or high centered a logi yesterday.
Theyve always felt a little like skating on ice, however I have heard they're a little harder at the moment than usual. I haven't driven one since the update, but you're not the first to mention it
Nah it’s definitely worse and even the snail tanks float now. I assume it’s just a bug tho and should get fixed soon

Were they planning anymore updates/tweaks? After this update/recook, it legit feels exactly like I'm just playing Squad + ICO but with Star Wars skins now. It doesn't "feel" the way it always did before ,at all.
There is going to be a patch soon for a lot of known bugs and I do believe certain ICO properties are being tweaked. I don't know the extent or when, but there will be some changes due to feedback soon. The community has been reporting bugs and opinions on gameplay changes since the mod returned

Gosh I want to play so bad!! However, I will hold off until I get my hands on a second VRAM card lol. I can see that 16gb of RAM would do me well
8gb works fine for me but if you want the best graphics with the best performance, definitely would recommend

nigh vison IRL only works if there is atleast some light.
Tried playing tonight and the ICO update is really ruining it for me having to wait for sights to recenter even with full stamina is a chore. Makes some of the maps like Tatooine hard to push up on since the defenders have towers with cover with more time to aim precisely. Trying to suppress them is a gamble. I’ve played PR and even that recoil system wasn’t egregious as this. Hope an update comes along that tweaks it down a bit. It’s not a bad system but pretty sure soldiers don’t have spaghetti arms. Small tangent but glad to see you are enjoying it and back with making. Content for it,
ICO needs major tweaking imo. gonna give it a few months and see if they fix it.
I think it makes for less bull dozing. No longer can a commando or heavy rifleman take out a squad and knock a fob. It takes a squad coordination now which makes for a more fun experience, in my opinion.
i havent been able to hit shit with the new recoil and weapon sway, but i keep getting killed from huge distances

I’m still addicted as ever to this mod. But playing as a clone trooper with the combat overhaul mechanics just dosent do it for me. Send my character back to Kamino, he can’t hold a blaster straight.

how do you run your game so well? i got a 3060 ti and a ryzen 7 5700x i dont get a stable fps, what settings do you use?
Look up the Squad Optimization Guide by Resonance. That's the last video I used and combed through my settings. You've got about the same specs I do, so I assume theres a hidden setting eating frames somewhere
@@Bullwon how much fps do you get in the mod, i only get around 70 to 50 with the settings from the vid. And do you also use DLSS?

I would say yes, but Squad goes on sale quite frequently! So you could wait for it to be cheaper. Also if you play for less than two hours, you can always refund if you're unable to run the game!
Undoubtedly. This is hands down one of the best if not the best Star Wars game out there
