      Cuba is still in the dark ages. This just looks nice because its a goverment owned Hotel (like all of them) Don't stay at Hotels like ignorant westerners who are supporting the regime, use instead AirBnBs to support the local economy.

      Casas Particulares should always be your choice, but they are going to have great food there as well! Cuba's bread and butter industry is tourism. Probably 90% of their foreign currency comes from tourism. If the tourists don't get good food they won't come back. It's just the way it is. I agree the people of Cuba deserve much better, but that's a political discussion when it comes to why they don't have better.

    Great video. Glad to see things are coming back to normal in Cuba. Last time I was in Varadero in 2020 just before covid hit , the mall beside your hotel was closed and boarded up except for one bar and the bank. The service and food at the Dupont mansion was terrible. Despite only a few people in the restaurant it took almost an hour to get our food, and when we did it was cold. Glad to see they have a Tropicana show in Varadero now. The famous one of course is in Havana. I tried to go to that once but the bus never showed up. 🙃

    I love the video. It's super informative and beautifully made. Questions: Which airport did you fly into, how long was the ride from the airport to your hotel and what was the cost? How frequent does the bus in Varadero run, does it run from downtown to the very east tip and were the tickets $5 each or for the both of you? Is Melia Las Americas an all-inclusive resort? If so what's included? Were the food prices reasonable? For example how much was the mango daiquiri and the octopus salad at Xanadu? Please feel free to share any info I have not asked about. Thanks! I'll be looking out for your next video.

    • @asyamuzlera

      Thank you very much! 😊 Great questions, I did my best to answer them for you here:
      1) We flew into the Varadero Airport (Juan Gualberto Gomez International) & its about a 30 minute drive. Usually all the tour companies you book with offer free shuttle from the airport to the hotel. Sometimes that shuttle is a big or small bus in our case heading back to the airport our shuttle happened to be a taxi and no other passengers.
      2) The double decker bus runs every 30 minutes and it was $5 per person. Yes, it runs from Downtown Varadero all the way to the tip with the last stop being the Marina Varadero.
      3) Melia Las Americas is all-inclusive adults only 21+. Everything is included (food, drinks, room service, golf, spa, etc) of course if you want to buy something at the store in the hotel, this isn't included.
      4) Food at the Plaza Americas next door is pretty cheap I don't remember the exact prices but it was reasonable and places in downtown Varadero were pretty cheap too.
      5) The Xanadu house is more expensive like for 2 people you can expect to pay for a full meal $300 US if you get alcohol too. Upstairs the drinks range around $12-$20 but I don't remember exactly. The Xanadu is worth it if you want to have a more upscale dining experience in Varadero. The food is seriously delicious so it's worth it.
      Hope that helps!

      Hi Ashley! Great questions. We were there last time in June and it rained the 1st 2 days when we got there and then it was sunny and hot the rest of the 2 weeks. They use CUP & in terms of spending money that is hard to say because it depends on if you plan to leave the resort and how many off resort activities you plan to do. If you plan to rent a car that’s a bit more pricey.

    Nice video, I’m travelling in February, what was the cigar prices like as I know they went up but unsure on how much also how was the variety of choice there regarding cigars?

    • @asyamuzlera
      @asyamuzlera  2 роки тому

      Authentic cigars should only be purchased at the local malls by certified cigar stores, if you buy them at the beach you risk them being fake. Variety of cigars are limited in varadero, but if you take a trip to Havana you will have your pick from all kinds of Cubans. Prices ranges from 11$ USD each to about $20USD, funny things they were all going up in price a week after we left. Cigars like Rocky Patel, Placencia and others I found to be cheaper in Florida then Cuban cigars in Cuba.
      Hope that helps

    Nice video. I have been all over Cuba at least 15 times and its Muy Importante to stay at the right hotel, makes or breaks your vaca. and yes the airports now don't seem to have A/C so its best to book the VIP lounge. Also, you can give Canadian loonies and toonies for tips, you just have to tell the locals to ask the Canadians to swap out bills for the coinage. I have done this many times. Maybe mention the "no see ums" in one of your vids, they are bad and nothing but socks and trousers seem to work...best of luck!

      @@asyamuzlera I have yet not to be eaten alive whilst being in Cuba, buy far the best beaches though. Cayo Coco has best beaches I have ever seen and they are pretty much empty, was there 2 times this year and got super sick staying at the Playa. and did not enjoy my stay at the Flamingo, loads of Cuban families and they devoured everything, that is why I say its so important to chose your hotel wisely, they say the Melia is the number one but I stayed there a couple of years ago and I did not enjoy it, too many old people and they were not friendly, Cayo Santa Maria is sublime but almost a 2 hour bus ride from the airport. I sell travel , the food at the Level Melia Las Americas would be better than most other Cuban resorts but it’s also almost double the cost. Saying that the food looked good but not great . I’ve sent a lot of golfers here and they liked the food but they paid to play golf. If your not golfing the America’s often prices itself over what people want to pay for Cuba based on the food and availability of some key items that are often hard to stock . It was a good review , the beaches and the people are the draw for Cuba, and then of course the great price.

From Canada you only need a passport. All pandemic mandates are over so you don’t need proof of vaccination right now (Nov 2022) but it may or may not change when you travel so just double check before you go. Print out a copy of your travel health insurance. They say to have that with you but every time I flew I was never asked for proof by customs but I’ve always had it on me just in case.

    Hey! I cannot get a direct answer so I thought I’d ask someone who recently when you get to cuba. I’m planning to visit cuba with some friends from Canada. Some of them are not vaccinated. Are they still allowed to come ??

    • @asyamuzlera
      @asyamuzlera  2 роки тому

      Yes 100%! Cuba has removed all entry & travel restrictions on the island. It’s back to normal now so anyway can travel to Cuba even if they’re not vaccinated. And Canada as of Oct. 1 removed all travel restrictions too so unvaccinated people can leave and enter Canada no problem and no restrictions. Hope that helps! And enjoy your trip 😊👍

    One thing and listened for did not hear, are you Canadian? I only ask because, from what I understand, that there is large list of hotels, etc, that US Citizens may not use, under US law.

      @@asyamuzlera Americans can only travel to Cuba under one of 12 licenses, usually it is "Support for the Cuban People" which requires stay at Casas Particulares. Staying at most any of the 4 and 5 Star hotels is illegal for us because those hotels are owned by the military or government. We would not be supporting the people if we stay there. There is a complete list of illegal hotels at the US State Department website. Your hotel is included among them. :( [I'm only saying what the law is. I'm not agreeing with it or saying that all Americans follow it.]

      It depends on the brand and size as well as if you buy singles vs a box. The ones that are hand rolled in front you are cheaper like couple of dollars per cigar. The other ones range from like $12 and up
