I saw a vid where someone was using the sequencer playing notes in real time, and then overdubbing (like a looper). Its strange none of the demos of the S8 show this. It would be so cool if Roland added a count in and metronome in an update.

Great video Ed. I appreciate all of them. I learned a lot. I didn't know how to change measures, that you can do chords, and record CC midi changes. That's nice. :) Take care, Sam.

You can hold EDIT+ERASE key to erase the entire pattern, only notes, or only knobs, steps, step(note), step(knob)

Can someone please let me know if a pattern can be recorded in real-time like with the jdxi?

Can the System-8 transpose a playing sequence by pressing a new key ?

unfortunately not .. It's Edit + Press new key . But it's not deal breaker.. The Bass Station 2 had that feature where you play a key and it changes. Roland System 8, it does but Edit + New Key(press key)

I really, really don't get this. What's the reasoning for not including such a feature? I'm sure it's *very* simple to implement, so what product designer leaves this out, and what's the rationale?

Laurence Vanhelsuwe This is actually a deal breaker for me as it takes two hands to transpose so you cannot play anything else at the same time. A daft design decision which several other manufactures have also taken recently (DSI and Modal for example).

Totally agree.. and what's worse still is that most manufacturers don't even bother to add this basic functionality in a firmware update. There's usually one sensible way or other to add this, given the existing hardware UI. I get the feeling that these big firms look at the initial sales, and then make go/no go decisions on any future firmware updates soon after. I think that's a very poor commercial strategy because it proves you don't give a f* about "community" and good will. It's a shame..

      YES !!!
Press edit button while sequencer is playing then
Press any key on the keyboard
It will transpose it in real time
