09:10 - 11:26 Listening tests
Edition XS 9:13 , Ananda Nano 10:20
More disappointed that my 4 year old Anandas were stated as non-repairable as the right hand side died unexpectedly. Support end of life is really short.
Shit, that's terrible. For the price it should live for many years
Between the Ananda Stealth [$549] and the Ananda Nano [$599] it seems that the Nano probably offers the better value, since the Nano includes stealth magnets as well as nano diaphragms.
Plus hard case 🎉
I ended up selling my Sundara for the Focal Clear OG. I have to say am a bit disappointed a in a lot of ways. I think I am going to sell the clears and get the Ananda Nano
I think people who upgrade from good planar magnetics to another dynamic driver headphone kind of set themselves up for dissapoint a bit. The Focals are "better" headphones, but that planar magnetic feeling is what makes things like the Sundara so different, so when they upgrade to something more detailed, dynamic, etc but doesnt have that planar magnetic feel, it underwhelms them
Not blaming you, I did the same thing lol. I learned the lesson that upgraded headphones, while better in some ways, are never better in 100% ways when we're talking about several great headphones already. Always some trade-offs :)
Why you dont like the Clears?
@onlyspace9813 Metallic timbre but I got used to it. I own both the clears and nano now.
@@PantsaBear yeh when someone swap dynamics and planar, the brain need some time to get used to it. Moreover, the longer one listened, the more time it took. As a consolation, I can say that after listening to dynamic headphones for a long time, planar headphones sound terrible
I couldn't tell the difference between the XS and the Meze 109 at all in the listening tests. I could tell the differenc between the 109 and the Nano with the Nano not sounding as good as the 109 IMHO. BTW, I was listening to this test on my Edition XX.
Right now Hifiman is selling a bunch of refurbs with the Sundara going for $199, Edition XS $329, and Ananda Stealth for $349. Also of note the Ananda Stealth new is on sale for $400.
The whole stack seems very aggressively priced right now. This might be in part due to the prediction that it's time to just retire the Ananda but the fact that gave it the "stealth" rework somewhat recently makes that a little puzzling.
Currently shopping these models and trying to figure out what the hell is going on with the pricing, naming, sound, etc.
Been waiting for this!
Interesting, for me I find the the nano and the xs are sharing lot of sound characteristics with the nano being slightly faster, and that the original ananda have a warmer side that makes it different from the others, different ears I suppose 😊
XS does sound a bit more organic because of a rounder/fuller/fatter mid bass than the Nano which is faster and leaner sounding with more powerful low bass.
I am taking my last shot at headphones with the XS since they have lower clamping force and i just hate having my head on a vice...if i cant use them for hours i will give up on them and stay with speakers
How did it turn out bro? I am in love with my E XS
Which would you suggest between Meze 109 pro and Ananda Nano for better bass and soundstage?
Yeah that Meze curve ball was all well and good when he omitted several key comparison points. So. Drop ball. Very, very annoying.
Look I really appreciate the effort you put into making this video I really do and thank you for that. I dont understand why but the differences seem too subtle to put a price difference on it. I dont get it. can you add the original track to compare aswell maybe that will help. Or just use a different track. Is it just me who doesnt seem to hear any difference??
There is actually 4 Anandas.... V1, V2 (2020), Ananda Stealth and Nano
Wish there was a comparison somewhere
wait why did you say the ananda's are still $700? theyre going for $400
There might be crappier test tracks out there, but I'm not sure about that.
Ouvindo a demonstração de som, achei o Ananda v1 melhor, o palco sonoro realmente se destaca.
what headphone cable do you use
nice review!
The Nano is the most uncomfortable headphone I've ever worn. You can see how it sits on his head in the video and that he's had to set the strap at the front of his head rather than in the centre. The earpads are swooped back at such an exaggerated angle. That combined with lack of swivel and the weird placement of the headband strap makes it feel like a torture device if you wear it more than an 30 minutes or so.
It's just awkwardly and terribly designed from a comfort perspective. Loved the sound for music but everything else about it was awful.
I owned them for a month (I owned another pair a week before returning them due to channel imbalance) and no amount of adjusting helped with the terrible comfort. I spent more time adjusting them constantly than being able to enjoy whatever source I was listening to them from.
I don't know man, I had the ATH-r70x, which was much lighter, and they were only a little more comfortable than the nano, and they were specifically designed for comfort. For such large, bulky headphones, they're pretty comfortable, much more comfortable than other heavy headsets I've owned.
The original Amanda did not come in that box.... Ananda Stealth does so if that is the headphone from that brown box it is the Stealth edition of the Ananda.
I confirmed with Audio46 that it was the Ananda V1. I trust you're right, but they just gave me the Ananda in their display and put it in a box they had on hand. Sorry for the confusion there.
@@MajorHiFi ah ok, that makes sense because the way you were describing the sound didn't seem like the Ananda Stealth. Good review!
How are they compared to he1000 v2 stealth?
This video needs chapters
sir whichone is better sony xm5 or ananda nano ??
This is a joke right 😂
@@JagsP95 what it means ???
if you need NC or listen in not so quiet environments, Sony’s better. Otherwise, pretty much all other mid range open back headsets are better.
Well went ahead and bit the bullet on the nano. Got the hd 58x a few years back and figured it may be time to try something new.
And went ahead and used the code and it works so thats nice.
Thoughts on the nano?
Too much 8k hz all of them
naaah, gimme that sweet sweet, clear, defined treble.
No good Recording.
Nano for me thx.
Me too.
How well would the Nano go with an Asgard 3 & Modi 3?
