My dad literally said to me "that dress is to pretty for you, you're plain and simple and it'sto nice for you " I left with my confidence crushed by the person I loved most, and those words live in my head every time I get dressed up for anything. I wish people understood how much power words truly have.
Thank you very much for your kind words. People don't understand that some people don't have family and what little tiny bit they have isn't kind and will refuse to love you if you don't play by every single one of their rules.

Yes, he was disrespectful and got into their face on purpose, basically insinuating that they'd put his daughter in whatever to sell a dress. I really like the things they pick out for these brides, and even if the bride doesn't love the dress, it is usually flattering and coudl work on the figure.
I reckon there must have been way more going on than what they showed us or bad editing because those two ladies are normally the most lovely bubbly women, so I’m surprised by their attitude in this one
He walked in as if he were in charge. The bride to be didnt matter, the women who excel in finding gorgeous wedding dresses didnt matter, only opinion that mattered was his. As a shop that puts the bride first I can imagine his attitude set an awkward tone for the whole visit.
I saw the entire episode and they were protecting the bride. He had attitude and they were in the right. We see all kinds of overbearing opinionated parents on the other SYTTD versions. Leave it to the pros and support or stay quiet. They put the mom who called her daughter a hippo in her place too.
I don't think it was good customer service to essentially refuse to allow a customer to try on a dress they like because "I know it won't look good". That's incredibly hurtful and rude to the customer. And second of all, yes the dad disagreed with some of the dress choices but he was not contradicting his daughter, he withheld his opinion until she said how she was feeling. You can't get sensitive about someone not liking a dress and outright refuse to let people try on dress choices you don't agree with.
I kinda agree. When I went dress shopping the saleswoman let me pick out dresses that she knew wouldn't suit my figure but let me come to that conclusion myself. I tried on a dress and said "Oh this doesn't look good on my figure!" And she smiled and said "I knew as soon as you picked it out but I wanted you to see for yourself."
That women used to be 15 stone heavier she knows how to dress a bigger figure, they say that because they don’t want the bride to be feeling self conscious and fat for the rest of the appointment. I’m sure if she’s of asked again to try on that dress they would of put it on her. They know what there doing
This ladies are professionals, they know which dress fits every figure. They brought styles that the bride want it to prove to her that it wasn't the best choice and then went with what the thought it would fit her well. So, I disagree with you, it was an excellent customer service.
Personally i was getting mad at the dad aswell. He was condescending, insinuated they didn't know what they were doing in their own store and tbh seemed like a giant knob.
I absolutely LOVED the one she chose! So unique! I thought it looked great on her. Looked different than the million other dresses I've seen on these shows. And honestly it complements her body style very well!
The man claims to have worked retail and is still this rude? The shop owners did seem a little more defensive than usual and it makes me wonder if some stuff happened BTS that we dont know about that caused the tension to be so high.
She is so blessed because she has a very supportive and very opinionated type of a dad but of course, in a very good way, just to support his loving daughter.
I don't know how to delete that rn, but that last comment was an accident. LMAO. But yeah, I agree. He was a good sort of honest which didn't discourage his daughter. 😊
Clearly, you did not watch this video with much comprehension. Opinionated does NOT automatically mean supportive nor does it mean the opinion is right! Her dad was being a dick and completely undermining the owners that clearly know more about plus size bodies than he.
The third dress is just stunning, and it suits her so beautifully, she looks like a treasure. That is a perfect dress and it's also a perfect dress for her. So beautiful she will be.
I was filmed for a documentary a couple of years ago, and based off this vs how the shop owners are in all the other episodes, I would bet there’s more to this than meets the eye- hours worth of footage are usually filmed for these sort of things, so perhaps the dad might have done something to get on their nerves but it got cut from the final clip? Or things have been taken out of context? Of course I’m just speculating, but Jo and Al are so lovely in every other episode.
I get that they're professionals and that they know what they're doing (obviously because the bride loved the one they picked) but they treated the father so badly, you don't do that to customers. If they want to try a dress on even if the ladies knew it wouldn't look good they should still let them try it on to see for themselves. I cringed at their customer service.
Mengya Li It doesn't matter, he is still there for his daughter and he could of been paying for the dress. Also, they told him to get up and help pick a few dresses and when he did she instantly said "no". If that's what the customer wants to try on then they should let them see what it looks like on, if they don't like it then that's when the professionals should say "okay, how about we try something a little different". Absolutely rude.
Abby Darmody absolutely agreed. And then people will leave that place with a thought "what if that dress would have looked stunning". They should take away doubts not ignore them.
Abby Darmody I agree. They were very rude with the father. He is just giving his opinion. That's why she bought him. If someone talks to my dad like that I would give them a piece of my mind. If they are a professional than behave like one and don't be rude. Phrase it better
Sales people are really pissing me off. First they talking about how somethings not going to look good on her then they’re barking at the dad that no matter what she looks amazing. She values his opinion let him fucking have one! Don’t make it so personal. Not your wedding. This is not the kind a scenario where the bride falls in love with the way a dress makes he feel and her bridal party shreds her by making fun of her.
Every single dress that bride put on looked gorgeous. That doesn’t happen by accident. Pause for emphasis. What I love about Say Yes to the Dress is it shows us a glimpse of the process of becoming a bride. Make no mistake, this is a masterclass in negotiation and therefore respect. The bride’s father came in hot and disrespectful towards anyone who disagreed with him. That’s not love, that’s ego. Doctors make the worst patients, and retailers make the worst customers.
Having an opinion doesn’t make someone automatically disrespectful. He loves the daughter that he has.known for decades and has obviously spent a long time talking wit he her about what her vision is for her wedding. She knows he’s in retail and she obviously likes his sense of style not just his opinion as her father. A majority of people that go into a weeding store are going to have some kind of idea about what they are looking for and even if it’s tragical off base and a major fashion faux pas the sails people should be professional enough and enough tact to present a professional option without rubbing in someone’s face that they made a bad pick and teasing them about it. That a dick move if you’re a doctor or your in retail.
Jenny Abson He was being quite disrespectful considering the fact that the employees knew what they were doing. “The customer is always right” that just sounded cocky and immature.
ᏕᏗᎷ I couldn’t agree more. He wasn’t disagreeing with the owners/shopkeeps; he was acting like he was their boss, telling them what to do. As if women couldn’t survive 5 minutes without some man stepping in to tell us what to do.

Just seen a re run of this episode and imbetween this episode & the wedding the Bride was diagnosed with cancer. So pleased she made it down the aisle. She looked lovely & Dad was so proud!
Of the 3, the 3rd ones best. The simple structure and the shade of white and the silver both look good on her..it’s timeless and ageless, so she can wear it to her 25th anniversary, if she wanted
i am with dad on this one. the second one wasnt flattering in my eyes. he could have put it differently though, came off quite cocky. but so did the ladies.
"Daddy Graham needs to know his place here"? Um...This lady obviously forgot hers because last time I checked, these bridal shops, especially the 'Mum n' Pop Shops' like this one, earns their fish n' chips based on commission only. If a customer wants to try on something, even if it looks bad to the seller, let them anyway.
it is the customer that needs to know their place with ''good manners... and can take your pompus fish n' chips and put them where the sun don't shine''
Hard to look good in the mermaid cut. My least favorite shape for a dress, absolutely. Also, her dad is friggin rude. "Customers always right," oh pleeeaaase.
Well they basically said she wasn't going to be trying a dress they (or he) their customers chose, so why even let them look... whether or not it suits her is something she should be allowed to find out for herself
The 2nd dress was amazing and she was looking to her father for the confidence to wear it. And I agree with the ladies with the "typical fat girl dress" bit. She could have pulled that dress off and looked really dapper!
I this that dress was amazing, like a greek goddess. Not always the blingy and too extra is the nice when you just see the dress and not the bride. Its beautiful because of it's simplicity.
Jo and Al i think you two know your business and know how to work with your clients. With the years you two have invested you should know. I love both of your personality's they are just great. your both very special people. The dad needs help he is just a normal guy that don't have a clue.
Johanna you looked beautiful in all 3 but the last one was my favourite you looked like a Greek goddess. Hope you had a fantastic wedding and I wish you all the best for the future x
I agree with them telling the dad to shut it. Customers are so annoying and rude, thinking because they’re spending money they can be obnoxious. I’m glad she reminded him to behave
The first dress I liked a lot. She looked pretty. The second dress is beautiful. I’m not sure what she didn’t like. The one she picked was my least favorite.
If I ever encounter women like these being so aggressively defensive, insulting someone who I brought to help with a decision, deny me something I want to try on because of their personal opinion and act so rude towards me and my family/friends I will make sure that their store will go down. This is absolutely unacceptable.
Ruyi Aiyo Wu I think they try not to let bigger women try on dresses they know won’t look good so that it won’t affect their confidence/body image for the whole appointment... granted they could have gone about it in a WAY BETTER manner than what they did. If they explained nicely why they didn’t want her to try that dress and she insisted then let her try it and see for herself! I would just hate myself as a customer to leave there and think but man what if that one I really wanted to try at first was even better than the one i got but I didn’t even try it... that would really suck. I get the consultants idea behind why they do what they do but in this case they could have used a little more tact,
The father was extremely rude from the get go. Sorry, I didn't like that man at all, and he insulted the owners of the place by saying that they didn't know what they were at - he pretty much said they'd put his daughter in whatever to make a sale. And they are definitely very invested in getting the bride a dress that makes them look stunning and makes the bride happy.
I'm a size 18 also and I wish I would have found that shop when I was getting married I still cringe when I think of my disaster of a dress. You're a beautiful woman cheers to you and have a wonderful life!!!
I've helped friends and family member pick up their wedding dress. But never have it even cross my mind to speak up before the bride to be has the first shot. I really want to yell at the relatives in these show to learn to shut up and wait for their turn to speak. It's her day, her dress, she has the first say. Full stop.
I did like the second one and I thought she looked amazing in it.... honestly the last dress looked like a fat dress.. she looked beautiful as all brides do but that second dress was the one...
Gorgeous dress. Perfect fit for her. Stunning. The dad must have been much ruder than the video shows. He puts on a sarcastic grin when he knows he's been mean.
Love the dad. Sorry he doesn't change his way for new people. Good on him. This dad LOVES his little girl and she loves him just as much. All these comments are so sad.
That is a really cool wedding dress style that I've never seen before! It looks like it could flatter a multitude of shapes, too! Really cool dress. Definitely one you wouldn't forget amongst a sea of wedding memories.
This episode speaks to me. I had a "dream dress" for months. Never thought I'd see it in person until yesterday when I finally got to try it on. And while I loved it for what it was, it wasn't /the/ one.
Dont mess with these ladies, love the way they speak their minds and put pompous and smart ass people in line. Go ladies, you are both the real deal, honest and straight to the point. Cheers from Australia 🍻🇦🇺🐨👍
She looked beautiful in all of those in my opinion. I just wish she would've spoken how she felt instead of directly looking for dad's opinion each time. Either way, I can understand the need for approval. Cheers gorgeous!
I'm sorry its what the bride wants that's what these ladies are doing finding the dress that she wants and looks good for her figure. Family and friends ofc can have opinions on the dress to help the bride but sorry the customer isn't always right. Being rude to the ppl you have asked to help with the most important day of your life is flat out awful. I was in customer service for over 8 yrs and i can tell you flat out that its a very hard job to have. Its one thing if these ladies were mean and rude from the start but it was the father who was acting entitled. I get its your daughter and you want her to look beautiful on her wedding day but please treat ppl with courtesy when you walk into theyre place of business.
I liked how the father and daughter are in harmony together and how he doesn't say his opinion before hers, but the seller gets triggered easily like chill, they'll pay for whatever they buy even if it doesn't suit her from the seller's view.
It's edited. If you saw the whole episode, you would know, the father was extremely rude. Way more than they show. He didn't say his opinion, he was just laughing at her. Way batter. He was not supportive, he was just rude and jerk. If she tried on dresses which would make her look more fat, she will be devastated and it would ruin the visit. Even more than her jerk dad.
I loved the second dress! I couldn’t see the bottom properly so maybe I would’ve not liked that But it was way better than the 3rd dress. The 3rd dress does look elegant and really nice but looks kind of like an evening gown
Gotta give Daddy A for effort for going, trying and in his heart of hearts probably felt he was protecting his daughter... but like most... the road to hell is paved with good intentions! Her Pops was trying and if I had to guess; he felt pretty damn special his little girl (regardless of age) chose him, asked him to go with her - out of anyone in the world she would want help from it was her Daddy!! I adore these two gals running the shop and I agree with them nearly all the time but this time, unless something was edited out, they missed on the bond and trust she has with her father. But as long as the gorgeous bride to be is happy and confident that is all that matters
I've watched a lot of these videos and every time a mom doesn't like a dress, they always try to find a dress that would please her. But a father (or any other man) doesn't like it and they want to kick them out. I know he was being rude, but they still have to be professional and I don't think they were. That's just my opinion though 🤷🏽♀️
Adding to GAgaV8s comment: Plus I remember at least one episode where they said similar things about kicking someone out about a female part of entourage

The 2nd dress was amazing and she was looking to her father for the confidence to wear it. And I agree with the ladies with the "typical fat girl dress" bit. She could have pulled that dress off and looked really dapper!
I love these two women. They're psychologists as well as caring saleswomen
The last dress was made for her. I loved it. ❤️
2nd dress was stunning on her!
Shes an absolute vision in that dress! Bravo!
I watch a lot of these shows and these ladies are AMAZING at their job. They always pick the most amazing dresses.
These women are amazing at what they do.
She looks stunning in the dress she chose!
Oh no #3 was too plain. Glad she liked it though
Autumn Rain I’ll be sure to tell her that because that’s the one she wore, I know coz I went to the wedding because she is my best friend daughter
@@georgiaharry2307 I'm still carrying a torch for that second dress.
I this that dress was amazing, like a greek goddess. Not always the blingy and too extra is the nice when you just see the dress and not the bride. Its beautiful because of it's simplicity.
Am I the only one who thought the 3rd dress was stunning on her?
Nope. I did as well. The 2nd one looked like a bad prom dress.
Caroline Lee that’s the one that she wore
It really was amazing she looked like a movie star
@@georgiaharry2307 we get it you went to the wedding lmfao

She’s a BEAUTIFUL girl !!
Jo and Al i think you two know your business and know how to work with your clients. With the years you two have invested you should know. I love both of your personality's they are just great. your both very special people. The dad needs help he is just a normal guy that don't have a clue.
Are we going to ignore how each time she opened her eyes she had a surprised look and put her hands on her hips
Emza Mua that’s what my mums known best for😂
The head tilt like she had been TOLD that was her best look, just irritated me. Hands on hips like,a pose.
I loved the second dress and it look really nice on her.
I really liked the first dress!
Was nice that her dad came, but I think he was slightly rude to the ladies that were helping her.
Okay it’s not like the dads disagreeing with the bride he lets her have her say first the ladies need to chill
Beautiful dress. Happy bride!!!
Omg she looked absolutely gorgeous! That dress was made for her love it xx
THE SECOND ONE WAS OMGOSH BEAUTIFUL
I'm a size 18 also and I wish I would have found that shop when I was getting married I still cringe when I think of my disaster of a dress. You're a beautiful woman cheers to you and have a wonderful life!!!
Kt Cat awh thank you she’s my mum xx
I thought the first dress looked gorgeous on her.
That is a really cool wedding dress style that I've never seen before! It looks like it could flatter a multitude of shapes, too! Really cool dress. Definitely one you wouldn't forget amongst a sea of wedding memories.
loved the 3rd dress
This episode speaks to me.
I had a "dream dress" for months. Never thought I'd see it in person until yesterday when I finally got to try it on. And while I loved it for what it was, it wasn't /the/ one.
Lovely! A very 1920's feel.
The second dress looked really good on her.
Even if you think something wont look right on her she can still try it on.
I thought the dad said that if she is in a dress that doesn't look good on her he will tell her,the lies!
Dont mess with these ladies, love the way they speak their minds and put pompous and smart ass people in line. Go ladies, you are both the real deal, honest and straight to the point. Cheers from Australia 🍻🇦🇺🐨👍
She seemed comfortable in that first dress to you sir....really?? Also omg he's rude, I despise this man.
She looked beautiful in all of those in my opinion. I just wish she would've spoken how she felt instead of directly looking for dad's opinion each time. Either way, I can understand the need for approval. Cheers gorgeous!
Aw I love that she brought her dad 🤗
The second one looked lovely
I liked how the father and daughter are in harmony together and how he doesn't say his opinion before hers, but the seller gets triggered easily like chill, they'll pay for whatever they buy even if it doesn't suit her from the seller's view.
It's edited. If you saw the whole episode, you would know, the father was extremely rude. Way more than they show. He didn't say his opinion, he was just laughing at her. Way batter. He was not supportive, he was just rude and jerk. If she tried on dresses which would make her look more fat, she will be devastated and it would ruin the visit. Even more than her jerk dad.
The second dress was beautiful on her.
2nd dress looked lovely.
I wish these ladies were around when I was shopping for a dress...
I loved all the 3 dresses on her.
I really liked the 2nd dress!
THE ASSISTANT'S LISP IS FREAKIN' ADORABLE!!!
Awsome chic dress. Sooo tastefull!!! She picked the right one for sure!!
The second dress was the bomb! The one he liked made her look frumpy and old!
I loved the second dress! I couldn’t see the bottom properly so maybe I would’ve not liked that
But it was way better than the 3rd dress. The 3rd dress does look elegant and really nice but looks kind of like an evening gown
Love the 2nd dress!
It's strange they allow comments on this one and not one when they were at their best.
She looked great in all three of those dresses!!!
The only thing I did not like on the second dress was the strappy part.
The second dress was much better and looked lovely on her
Gotta give Daddy A for effort for going, trying and in his heart of hearts probably felt he was protecting his daughter... but like most... the road to hell is paved with good intentions!
Her eyes just lit up when she opened her eyes. So cute
I love the added drama in this episode 🤣
I've watched a lot of these videos and every time a mom doesn't like a dress, they always try to find a dress that would please her. But a father (or any other man) doesn't like it and they want to kick them out. I know he was being rude, but they still have to be professional and I don't think they were. That's just my opinion though 🤷🏽♀️
Adding to GAgaV8s comment:
Plus I remember at least one episode where they said similar things about kicking someone out about a female part of entourage
