Hi Jeremy!! its a pleasure enjoy your channel. I just want to know about your opinion, which keyboard is the best to buy between Yamaha sx600 and Yamaha sx700? regards!
Both great keyboards, but I still will go with the Roland Go:Keys 5. The styles are better and the available styles and sounds from Roland Cloud are incredible.
Great video Jeremy, you made some great points. Both keyboards appear very capable and highlights the fact that we are living in a golden area of affordably priced, technologically advanced keyboards. For me, I think that the Roland just looks better, sleek with clean, uncluttered lines to it's physical form. Keep up the good work!
I really love this review and posted it on a music forum. I also have both the Roland Go 3 and Yamaha PSR-E473. The Yamaha is the one I play the most and I'm still exploring the Roland Go 3. I would have REALLY liked to get the Roland Go 5, but it was a little pricey for me. It has the mic input and because I sing and play, it would be awesome to own. I really love my Yamaha PSR-E473 but in the little dream cloud that hovers over my head, I would still really like to get a Yamaha DGX-670!!
Olá! Só um dado, o GO:KEYS 5 tem a função de overdub que não tem no Yamaha, então se tratando de gravação tante MIDI quanto áudio é ponto para ele. Isso não foi falado no vídeo. Mas o restante está de parabéns.
good video and comparison, however, a better choice is the psr-e473 because it compares with the roland to have 61 keys, all of the other functions are the same on the psr-ew425, plus you get to have AA batteries compartment and weights 15 lb., 7 oz. and it costs 369.99 dls. For the price the yamaha psr E473 is a better option.
I think you should have included the Go Keys 3 in the comparison since it shares so many features of the Go Keys 5 - in total Go Keys 3 and 5 are available in 5 different colors vs standard black for the Yamaha. I think the color choice is worth a point, it matters more to me than the $10 price difference. Overall a great comparison, thank you for your videos.
@@GregH.252 What Jeremy said, plus, the 5 is much better. The only real reasons to buy the 3 is if you are a beginner or hobbyist on a budget and/or don't want to spend the extra $150. To me the 5 is a no brainer for the upgraded and added features.
Thanks for this comparison Jeremy. I got my PSR-EW425 just over 12 months ago and I really love it. I'm still finding features on it that I didn't know it had. I haven't had much time to play with it lately due to family medical problems but hopefully I can get back to it soon. On the subject of D size batteries, They are still a common size and used battery here in Australia so no problems with finding them here.
Thank you! You helped me out on your video to choose the best key board for me! I am a beginner, but the Yamaha sounds better to me! The Roland seems to be more compact and more modern! The most important thing is features! It is nice that it had Bluetooth! All and all it’s not easy to choose!!
AFAIK the Roland go keys 5 is probably the first keyboard with a professional type sound engine in a keyboard at this price. The zen core engine is the same engine found in Roland's professional keyboards like Fantom and RD88. It even supports waveform expansions which is unheard of at this price point. It is such a shame that the registration and arranger control functions are quite limited, making it much more difficult to use in a live setting.
thanks for the very good review as always. I agree that the track mute in roland could be better. that said the absence of the chord sequencer function in the other brand could be a deal breaker for a novice player like myself. and with roland I can play my favorite songs from mobile phone thru BT (and to the external sound system) and sing along like karaoke. It also has center cancel function which mute the voice of the original singer. I'm happy with my roland purchase. however next, maybe a yamaha SX900
I love your review videos, they're so thorough and inspiring. Thanks a lot! BTW, did you review any Studiologic piano? I'm evaluating buying a Studiologic Numa Compact 2 / 2X as my first piano (I'm a total beginner, just started learning), and it would be awesome to know what you think of it. :)
In terms of portability, the EW425's sibling, the E473 (soon to be E483?), has 61 keys, the same as the Roland model and works off 6 x AA batteries, as well as a mains adapter. As always, nothing beats trying out both models and deciding for yourself. As Jeremy says, a lot comes down to personal taste. Keep up the great work Mr See! (from MrC 😜)
Thanks for a very detailed video Jeremy I am trying to find info on the Go:Keys 5 onboard speakers. While I understand they are "not very powerful but a slight upgrade over the Go:Keys 3", I am curious how they compare to the Casiotone series ( CT-S1 or CT-S400 or 500). I own a CT-S400 and use it to play around with a group of friends, and find myself just on the edge of needing an external speaker. Would the Go:Keys 5 be a noticeable upgrade ?
Both have their unique sound. Like you said, personal preference . Appreciate your take on musical instruments. And your awesome piano playing 👌😎✌️✌️✌️📀
Have you tried recording to a DAW with it yet? The guy at PianoTone figured out how to get the Bluetooth midi to work ....sorta. Would this be as good as the SX600 when recording to a DAW?
I really think that 73/76 keys is like the perfect sweet spot between Compactness and playability (As long as they don't put a real state island to the side just to support the mod wheel). In my country the 73 keys pianos are always scarce and there is always a huge demand of them.
@@jjptech Roland just recently released the new Juno D series in 61/76/88 key models the PHA4 action is only $150 more than the 76 key version at $1300. Plus all three can be powered via USB from a laptop or power bank. A 20 mAh one like the Anker I have would be perfect with lots of playing time. 👍 😎
Hi Jeremy, I encountered an issue with the Roland go keys 5. The speakers are basically crappy and there is a rattling sound even at mid range volume. Also, when using the headphones I noticed that some presets had some slightly overdriven sound... Quite disappointed with that to be honest... So i went to the shop, returned the go keys and got the Yamaha, which to me is a much more consolidated product. It sounds amazing!! Thanks for your review!!
Hi Jeremy See, I like your videos, and now I want to contribute Features in which Roland go Keys5 is superior to the ew425 that the video does not mention and are extra points: Roland Go Keys5 has 24 points vs Yamaha 17 points. So: 1-quality of the key, it is not shiny and it is not smooth 2-sensitivity levels are superior, 9 versus 3 of the ew425 3-mp3 player 4-configurable screen contrast 5-favorite sound buttons on Roland Go Keys, similar to the Registration Memory 6-speaker off function 7-Bass Inversion very important like the one you mentioned in the Medeli AKX10
Actually you could add either Korg EK50 or i3 in this comparison. Many reviewers often miss detailed review of a keyboard’s velocity mapping and its output quality. For example, just because Roland keybed has firmer spring, it does not mean it plays well. For piano playing, the Casio CTS1 spongy keybed easily beat the Roland Go Key. Roland sound output is not good. - very compressed, lack clarity and stereo width. It is quite obvious when you compare them with a good PA or HiFi. Yamaha and Korg have better output quality. I like that Roland is taking the arranger design in the right direction. It has created a nice platform for future sound/style expansion.
Could you share your opinion on which is better between Yamaha E383 and Casio CT-S1 for someone who wants to learn Keyboard? I understand that with E383 there is room to play around with accompainments etc. But, I would like to know which would be better for someone who wants to learn Piano playing within the scope of - The key sensitivity and the sound quality of the instruments on both the keyboards 61 Good tones is better than 600 tones which I may never fully use Please and thank you
Great review, I was interested recently in getting a light keyboard for occasional gigs and favoured the Go:Keys 5. The only drawback for me was how it handled Scenes (Registrations in Yamaha speak). The accompaniment gliches when changing from one scene to another, so you can’t set up multiple scenes for different parts of a song and change them on the fly as you would with Y’s registrations. If Roland could fix this, it would be a no-brainer to buy but that is a huge issue for me.
This review is fantastic. I am going to stick with the Yamaha EW 425. Been to other sites and am reading too many not so great reviews. I will mention it was stated 256 polyphony where the ew 425 has only 64. Can anyone advise if that is a big deal breaker with running out of polyphony (even if sustain is well controlled) for just playing in small venues and at home?
I recently bought a Yamaha PSR-EW425 and I found it very nice to play and listen to : but, I was disappointment to find that now music came out from the top D note to the end of the key board, just a "klack" but no note. Voices 001 to 003 are the same. The only piano voice that played all the notes was voice 004 , the bright piano. This was not mentioned in any videos of this keyboard. I'm wondering this all I can expect or if I have been sold a dud. What are your thoughts?
Yamaha e473 or Roland Go Keys 5? The Roland costs approximately 70% more in Brazil. Does this price difference really make a big difference? My priority is pianos, guitars, saxophones and rhythms. Thank you.
Hello, i have been watching your videos because im into playing piano recently, im a complete beginner and never play piano before. My goal is to learn the basics and making cover songs, mostly i want to play jpop and vocaloid songs, i might want to learn harder pieces like touhou songs in the future when my skill is good enough. should i buy an arranger keyboard like the psr e383 or a digital piano like the p45? im worried that 61 keys will be limiting to progress to harder songs
I can give you a good advice for a beginner: limit yourself by your tools as much as possible, this will empower your creativity to overcome the technical obstacles. You will learn so much more in shorter time. Start with a used Keyboard with Accompaniment. When you are familiar with basics and got the feeling the tool is limiting you, then upgrade. Repeat the procedure. Remember: you learn skills, not tools. Good luck!
I'm concerned about the key action on the Go Keys 5. I'm hesitant to order it online and then discover that, despite its good sound features and appealing design, the key action might not meet my expectations. I think it would be best to try it out in-store first.
Hi Jeremy See you're one of the greatest for me in reviewing products when I started playing the keyboard I was mesmerized on how you played while reviewing products now I'm trying to save my school allowance just to buy a new electric piano, I've saved up 11.89 dollar, your one of my favorite youtuber, I wish this channel to grow more and continue to bring content God bless you.
Jeremy, I've looked at various sources and the go keys 5 has 128 note polyphony! Not 256 as mentioned in your comparison between the two keyboards.😢 That's a whooping difference! But still love your comparisons and one of the reasons I chose my entry keyboard to be the Casio CT S1 and loved it but now i have my eye on the Roland go keys 5 for all the many reasons you cite here but also I just got to have the jazz scat on the Roland!!!!!
I have the GO Keys 5 (in White) ... chose it because it is much smaller (I have it on my computer desk). The accompaniment quality is disappointing... try the bossanova styles (horrible) Sounds are very good though.
Yamaha ew425 like the e473 of the psr range still have the LCD screen problem. They didn't even try to correct it... I preferred to put a little more means and move towards the DGX-670.
INTRO-A means that after the intro plays the rhythm will be MAIN A. INTRO-B on the screen means that after INTRO, MAIN B will be the rhythm. There is only 1 INTRO & ENDING.
hey, this is awesome, thanks! does anyone know whether I can subscribe to Roland Cloud for, say, one month, download the stuff I need to use with the Go:Keys, and then cancel the subscription, keeping the packs downloaded? thanks
I am currently looking for a good keyboard that i can use with FL studio that is also good for beginners and has 88 keys, fully weighted and in a price range below 750$ edit: I’m not worried about portability since it’ll probably never leave my room and I’m more worried about the quality of it than the weight
I think the big selling point of the GoKeys are the very modern styles, while it sounds like the PSR-E series keeps going on with the old classics, like the Yamahas I played back in early 90s. So for me it's the winner.
Roland blows Yamaha away. This guy is a Yamaha fan boy. Giving points for a music rest, its a joke. Roland, best sound, best modern styles by far, 256 note poly, wave expansion of sounds and styles with Roland cloud, more storage space with scenes. Roland , CLEAR WINNER.
I own a PSREW. And I admit that it is terrible. The piano sounds good. But the accompaniments sounds like 90s toy. Almost all voices are muffled, and some are absolute trash. You can't intro again when starting a style. You can change the instruments in the style but you can't adjust the volume of it. That is absolutely limiting. Yamaha should stop hindering their PSRE artificially so they can force people to buy expensive keyboards. Semiconductor is cheap today there's no reason for trash instruments. They should trickle down PSRS voices. Now Roland has unveiled Go Keys with non-trash voices, Yamaha should really make their E483 better.
I own EW425. For me, I would chose the Go Keys. The accompaniments in the PSRE sounds like a children's toy. The sounds are from 90s PSR, very artifical and low resolution sounds, annoying to the ears. Where as the Go Keys sounds clear and natural. It also has 4 variations which is a huge difference than a very limited 2 variations. You can't even intro again which is absurdly limited. My old Casio can do that. Why Yamaha cant? It seems like I am a Yamaha hater, but for me they have the most realistic sounds on a keyboard. Like the Tyros/Genos, DGX, PSRSX, and MODX and Montage. I am aware that the PSRE is an entry level, but it dosent have to be that terrible especially these days, electronics/memory are dirt cheap. Roland has proved that cheap keyboards dosen't have to be sound like trash. So Yamaha should follow suit and improve their PSRE in terms in sound and functionality. Even the new e383 sounds better than mine. Now I would like Yamaha to take it to the next level and make E483/EW430 with more better voices from PSRS and styles and improved style control and style mixer.
Yeah, I got a the PSR-473 and has to take it back for the toy sound library. Thought I would spring for something better....then held off and have gotten confused with the SX-920 release. Would you get one?
Roland missed the mark on these in respect to providing the default arranger features people expect these days. Such as multitrack recording and more buttons to mute tracks and a numeric keypad for dialing in sounds and styles quickly. Those just add pennies to the cost, and absolutely necessary for live performance. What are they really thinking? Is this marketing hold back strategy again? And what is their next tier of arrqngers ?? At least the cheesy Yamaha sound is designed not to compete with their higher tiers. I guess that's somewhat understandable, perhaps not forgivable since better sounds and more sample memory is only exrra dimes these days. Shame on all of theml. Most people will never afford or buy the high-end stuff. $5k for a Genos. You better be making a profeasion out of that. Another thing Roland could have easily beat Yamaha on with just little R&D cost is the groove creator. Roland years ago had an automatic track mixer feature on their groove boxes. It worked great and very useful and musical. You could create endless combinations and variations of beats and grooves, and accompianments from morphing tracks from other sytles with all the timing and pitch auto-fitted. Roland is notorious for giving new innovative features then taking them away on their next product line. And btw, you'll pay money for every expandable sound from their cloud. I do love the Roland sound. Glad I have an EA-7. Has everything I need in an arranger including full sound editing, style editing, a multi track sequencer, amost all their famous iconic sound library over 5000 sampkes, and a full on sampler, not the gimmick Yamaha included. Those go for less than $1000 used these days. Best to get what was best, not what their watered-down new stuff. Go for the older stuff, prime gear.

Roland is the clear winner here. I love the sound of the Roland. This has always been Roland's strength.
Yeah, absolutely! It's like comparing a trashbox to something decent. Yamaha should really make their PSRE better.
that roland default grand is something else❤❤❤

For the price the yamaha psr E473 is a better option.
I think you should have included the Go Keys 3 in the comparison since it shares so many features of the Go Keys 5 - in total Go Keys 3 and 5 are available in 5 different colors vs standard black for the Yamaha. I think the color choice is worth a point, it matters more to me than the $10 price difference. Overall a great comparison, thank you for your videos.
These are $150 more than the GO:Keys 3. That's a 30% difference. It's a price league.
Great exercise for comparison of two leading brands.. thanks a million Geremy..!!🎉😊❤🎹👍👏👌
Or SX920!
🎹🏃🏻♂️
In terms of portability, the EW425's sibling, the E473 (soon to be E483?), has 61 keys, the same as the Roland model and works off 6 x AA batteries, as well as a mains adapter.
As always, nothing beats trying out both models and deciding for yourself.
As Jeremy says, a lot comes down to personal taste.
Keep up the great work Mr See! (from MrC 😜)
I assume there is going to be a EW435 coming soon.
Will the new Yamaha E483 model be announced in 2024? thanks
Nice comparation video. Bro Jeremy, any chance please review Genos 2.
Dear Jeremy, can you give us a better review in between Yamaha E473 & Yamaha i500
Very great comparaison , thanks a lot 👏🏻💛💙💜
Great comparison!
I have a DGX 670 and a go keys 5... Together they make a very nice duo for home practice.
Perfect combo!
Living the dream!😊
Thanks for a very detailed video Jeremy
I am trying to find info on the Go:Keys 5 onboard speakers.
In my country the 73 keys pianos are always scarce and there is always a huge demand of them.
said that, Roland should add more 73 keys keybs to their lineup
Hi Jeremy See, I like your videos, and now I want to contribute
Features in which Roland go Keys5 is superior to the ew425 that the video does not mention and are extra points:
Roland Go Keys5 has 24 points vs Yamaha 17 points.
So:
1-quality of the key, it is not shiny and it is not smooth
2-sensitivity levels are superior, 9 versus 3 of the ew425
3-mp3 player
4-configurable screen contrast
5-favorite sound buttons on Roland Go Keys, similar to the Registration Memory
6-speaker off function
7-Bass Inversion very important like the one you mentioned in the Medeli AKX10
But, I would like to know which would be better for someone who wants to learn Piano playing within the scope of - The key sensitivity and the sound quality of the instruments on both the keyboards
61 Good tones is better than 600 tones which I may never fully use
Please and thank you
Which keyboard, would you recommend is better to play in a church between the DGX 670 and the PSR-EW425?
Very interesting review
I want to learn piano withy free time and I'm having the option of Yamaha P120S or Casio CDP 360? Which one is better?
Thnks for the information 👌🏻
love the interface of Yamaha, but i love how Roland looks
I recently bought a Yamaha PSR-EW425 and I found it very nice to play and listen to : but, I was disappointment to find that now music came out from the top D note to the end of the key board, just a "klack" but no note. Voices 001 to 003 are the same.
The only piano voice that played all the notes was voice 004 , the bright piano.
This was not mentioned in any videos of this keyboard.
I'm wondering this all I can expect or if I have been sold a dud. What are your thoughts?
For home users the 3.5 headphone jacks option is more usable as a default option, so in my opinion one point for Roland.
Yamaha e473 or Roland Go Keys 5? The Roland costs approximately 70% more in Brazil. Does this price difference really make a big difference? My priority is pianos, guitars, saxophones and rhythms. Thank you.
Is that a new Yamaha keyboard this year
Hello, i have been watching your videos because im into playing piano recently, im a complete beginner and never play piano before.
Jeremy can you please choose btwn Roland Go 5 and Yamaha E383?
If you have the budget for a Go:Keys 5, there's no reason to look at the E383
Hi Jeremy See you're one of the greatest for me in reviewing products when I started playing the keyboard I was mesmerized on how you played while reviewing products now I'm trying to save my school allowance just to buy a new electric piano, I've saved up 11.89 dollar, your one of my favorite youtuber, I wish this channel to grow more and continue to bring content God bless you.
Can you tell about Yamaha psr e483?
Launch or something
Jeremy, I've looked at various sources and the go keys 5 has 128 note polyphony! Not 256 as mentioned in your comparison between the two keyboards.😢 That's a whooping difference! But still love your comparisons and one of the reasons I chose my entry keyboard to be the Casio CT S1 and loved it but now i have my eye on the Roland go keys 5 for all the many reasons you cite here but also I just got to have the jazz scat on the Roland!!!!!
Go read Roland FAQ on their website. Stated 256
I have the GO Keys 5 (in White) ... chose it because it is much smaller (I have it on my computer desk). The accompaniment quality is disappointing... try the bossanova styles (horrible) Sounds are very good though.
How do you find the piano action feel? Disappointing? Good enough? Great?
Can’t you download a better bossanova style from the Roland Clous?
Yamaha ew425 like the e473 of the psr range still have the LCD screen problem. They didn't even try to correct it... I preferred to put a little more means and move towards the DGX-670.
Yamaha 775 second heand...?
Thank you, but there are 2 INTRO and 2 ENDING on the Yamaha. Just change MAIN-A or MAIN-B
Main A & Main B has the exact same INTRO & ENDING
@@JeremySee i have tested it with most E series models. Your style should already have INTRO-A & INTRO-B. 🌹
INTRO-A means that after the intro plays the rhythm will be MAIN A. INTRO-B on the screen means that after INTRO, MAIN B will be the rhythm. There is only 1 INTRO & ENDING.
I explained this in my tutorial. Ask someone else to listen to INTRO-A & INTRO-B, they are exactly the same.
Hi Jeremy! Do you ever have free giveaways? I would love to have one one these keyboards I can't afford to buy one.
Hola, Jeremy See, me gustan tus videos, y ahora quiero aportar
Caracteristicas en que Roland go Keys5 es superior al ew425 que no menciona el video y son puntos extras:
Roland Go Keys5 tiene 24 puntos vs Yamaha 17 puntos.
6-función speaker off
7-Bass Inversion muy importante como la que mencionaste en el Medeli AKX10
Me estoy guiando por el Roland. Tengo varios años que no cambio de teclado
No style programming for creating your own styles on any of those?
No
Does PSR-EW425 have Indian voices like PSR-I300?
are you through an amp, or are these the keyboard speakers?
why doesn't he answer people's questions.?
Through amp
hey, this is awesome, thanks! does anyone know whether I can subscribe to Roland Cloud for, say, one month, download the stuff I need to use with the Go:Keys, and then cancel the subscription, keeping the packs downloaded? thanks
Is a $10 difference really worth a point?
For some people. It might be
I like Roland GO:Keys 5 ,Simple is good🎉
Are the Go Keys semi weighted keys?
Roland Go Keys3/5 touch is better than Yamaha e473/ew425 or psr sx. So
CT s500 vs GO kays 5 ?
I wanna see a review of the new Yamaha PSR-SX920.
Yamaha sent a review set to every "shop reviewer" but not me.
@@JeremySee 😔
@@JeremySeeThey are so dumb….
I am currently looking for a good keyboard that i can use with FL studio that is also good for beginners and has 88 keys, fully weighted and in a price range below 750$ edit: I’m not worried about portability since it’ll probably never leave my room and I’m more worried about the quality of it than the weight
the accompaniment algorithms of the Yamaha are far more advanced than the Roland
I noticed that

Make a comparison video about Yamaha e473 and go keys 3
I think the big selling point of the GoKeys are the very modern styles, while it sounds like the PSR-E series keeps going on with the old classics, like the Yamahas I played back in early 90s. So for me it's the winner.
It’s wild that the Roland doesn’t have a music stand
😄😄😄
Roland blows Yamaha away. This guy is a Yamaha fan boy. Giving points for a music rest, its a joke. Roland, best sound, best modern styles by far, 256 note poly, wave expansion of sounds and styles with Roland cloud, more storage space with scenes. Roland , CLEAR WINNER.
Fanboy? Watch this. ua-cam.com/video/7xi2ycrz5FI/v-deo.html
Just because you cannot accept the outcome you have in your mind don't make you right.
And you're a Roland fan boy,so what's your point?
@@amusic9825you need to get an SX720
Roland is better
Roland
Yamaha wins in my opinion...
For me the Main difference is the portability, if it's at home Yamaha if for outside Roland
Yamaha did not win .
You can connect a computer headset to Roland, but not to Yamaha. Roland gets 2 points for this +
Yamaha psr de la serie E son de juguete no tiene sentido está comparación LOL
Yamaha wins ❤
I am looking to get something to learn on, will 61 keys be enough?
Yes definitely
