Been binge watching alot of your new and old videos recently, Something I do quite alot with your channel, Just cant get enough of them, Love the videos Richard!!!
+thefunkyfarmer Just thought i would let you no that you dairy farmers in the uk arent the only ones protesting about farming matters these days. Canadian dairy and beef cattle farmers protested against what is called the "Trans-pacific Partnership". If this goes through there is a possibility that Canadian work could be taken away by imported american dairy products. Image of what is happening. pbs.twimg.com/media/CQFCxfTWoAAOXv4.jpg
Richard, another great maintanance video, keep them coming. You need to buy yourself a leaf blower to blow off all the old hay and rubbish before starting repairs. It is nice to have a clean area to work.
Me and my dad like the older machinery as well but you have to be careful with it because we had old granite roller that hadn't been used for about 25 years and the other day we tried moved it because the field was being ploughed and the spill broke in the middle and it came out its frame and rolled right through the fence at the bottom of the field into the next field.
lucky you got to it before any real damage was done. We have a 20 year or so old mower at the back of our barn, been out of use for the last 11 years. Something's wrong with it and rather than fixing it, we've dragged it from 3 different farms. May sell it or give it up for scrap
I need to replace the belts on the 165 hay cutter where is the tension release? I have no manual and cannot get belts on - please help a girl out down in texas
there is a large vertical spring on the top of the mower near to the belts. It has a bolt on the top that can be slackened off to reduce the tension on the belts
I know what you mean. These are my cheap and nasty boots for the summer. Ive just ordered some better boots for the winter. Haven't tried the Dunlop ones yet. The ones ive ordered are quotro
Nice work Richard, I always enjoy this sort of work, these days for me it's horticultural machines but the basics are the same. With straightforward but time consuming jobs like this it's particularly satisfying to fix yourself as you know that if you were paying someone they would take a similar time! I find that often drive belts look ok even when they aren't, the wear can be fairly slight to cause slipping, it's only really very old belts or those exposed to a lot of moisture that crack and look obviously knackered. Will you be doing any late mowing now or will you have to wait till next May to test it?
+Paul F your right Paul, it is very satisfying doing jobs like this. We have finished all the grass cutting now so its just the maize harvest to do now.Probably a couple of weeks away
+David Harris Your right there David. A lot of these jobs aren't that difficult its just a matter of having a go. I guess finding the time to do it is as much of an issue to some people

+thefunkyfarmer Well what else can you do when ill, No school and cant do farmwork 😬
+Philip Keogh oh dear, get well soon

+The Moose The low milk price has turned on nto a nightmare for all of us. I just hope things pick up soon
You are very practical around the farm because you do most of the maintenance.
+Alistair Tomlinson i like doing these sort of jobs. Most things you can do if you try
+thefunkyfarmer most of the time it seams like a hard job but it is so simple to do yourself.
+Alistair Tomlinson thats right. Ive learnt to tackle quite a few jobs from watching how other people have done them. I always think its worth a go
+thefunkyfarmer do you look on iTunes a lot to see if anyone has done a video on how to do it.
+Alistair Tomlinson no ive never done that

+born2flyau thanks Mate
to help make the belts last longer slacken them off after every season and tighten them back up the following year. thats what i was allways taught
+william wells good tip

+Carol Short blimey what a nightmare
I use magnetic trays to hold the nuts and bolts because I find if I leave them on the floor I end up kicking them and losing some
Same here I end up kicking them about.
+Shaun Phillips good idea
:-) Oh that drive belt cover. I have ZTR 140 and its also a pain to put it back.
+Ondřej Dujka yes its a right fiddle
Good video as usual, are they good mower.
Yes they are

+Ruslan McCabe maybe try selling it. We sold a mower that was nearly 30 years old and still got good money for it
might have to with the lack of money
I need to replace the belts on the 165 hay cutter where is the tension release? I have no manual and cannot get belts on - please help a girl out down in texas

@@thefunkyfarmer Thank You so very much - found it - belts on on - cutting will begin this morning once dew dries - THANKS SO MUCH!!
You were lucky with that belt. Presumably that happened last time the cover was put back on.
+fergie35X i'm not sure, you could be right
Where do you get the belts from. I need to find some for this season but can’t get any anywhere
Local ag dealer. Listers
Is this machine gentle on the plant and won't knock off ripe seed?
I'm not sure. I only mow grass with it
What does the cutting? You said discs...do the discs do the cutting?
+todd baker sorry Todd i didn't explain it will. The discs are under the mower and the blades are attached to them. There are 3 blades on each disc
would you do a video on checking or changing the blades? that's the 1 think I don't know how to do
+scotlandlights take a look at this video i did a few years ago. The blades removal is the same as this mower

+thefunkyfarmer thank you.
here's a tip from my farm... magnetic trays to hold the bolts :)
+Kitty Löwe thanks, i could do with one of those
+thefunkyfarmer they work great for working on tractors or impliments, can stick them to the side and the bolts won't fall out
Will you be filming the maize harvesting ? Great video :)
+Sean McKenna hope so. A few weeks away yet
u do very cool videos keep do lung one maybe next time u could do a video of u on a bike moving the cows plz
+Jay Buchanan i don't think my bike would be any good in the fields
+thefunkyfarmer u should at least try do a vid soon
hey rich
thought it would be a good idea if you get a gopro instead of hauling around a camcorder when your pricing or something
p.s love your videos😊
pricing=driving
autocorrect😂
+Ed Risdale yes people keep saying that.Maybe i will one day but i like using the camcorder
+thefunkyfarmer OK mate😯
do you think a 135 could handle that mower?
+scotlandlights maybe just about but probably not on a really heavy crop
Next time bend the metal strip also. The one where the belt was rubbing on
+Hessel Annema thanks
Your boots are hurting my feet just from looking at them. Ever tried Dunlop? Other than that, great video, as always. Keep it up! :D

Youd be suprised the amount of lads with more money than sense that would pay a dealer stupid money to do what you just did. Well done
+David Harris Your right there David. A lot of these jobs aren't that difficult its just a matter of having a go. I guess finding the time to do it is as much of an issue to some people
