Lauren H I mean most people say no to that question or at least what I’ve seen and it really depends on what your background is like how for very strict familys like let’s take Asian familys as an example. If you go visit your Asian parents they will most likely point out something about your body and will be brutally honest when saying that. like saying “ you’ve gotten fatter” or “why are you so stupid” and much more but that’s really only the surface because they have such high standards

But fortuneteller told my grandmother, that my mom was going to marry a "very very tall, dark man who resembled the pillar of a great house" (my dad is 6'3", solidly built, and dark skinned for Chinese). He would take my mom very far away from her family (the would move to the USA). Specifically, the fortune teller said that man she would marry would be a strong and tall pillar, who would build, support, and protect the family/house. Her parents stopped interfering, and my parents have now been married for nearly 40 years. Regarding strength and stability, very recently my now 62 yo dad gave me (34F) a piggyback ride for giggles; mom scolded us for risking hurting ourselves but my dad said what was the point of having a being a strong man if he couldn't toss his daughters into the air for as long as he was able.

I'm in bed with the flu and I have literally nothing else to do other than psychoanalyse Ned's behaviour. Honestly, I don't judge - how people handle their private relationships is none of my business and we never know the full story anyway (then again, him sleeping with an employee is a wholly different story and I am grateful for how the other three try guys have handled everything so far).
But I have been absolutely fascinated by the question of what might motivate a person to throw away everything like Ned did.
This video is the first one that make his behaviour "make sense". It seems he is someone who, for some reason, puts himself under a lot of pressure to keep up certain appearances. So much so that he resorts to lying when he can't get the admiration he craves otherwise. It seems like being insincere is less scary to him than being seen as anything other than that cool dude/father/big brother/husband/Yale alumni figure.
It must be a very sad place to live in.

most cheating cases like this are complicated... or not. it is meaningless to try to figure out a reason without a deep and willful analysis from the side of the man involved. maybe it was just hormone. maybe there were issues between ariel and ned. maybe the duo were a little bit drunk that night. ned had an image to maintain in front of the camera but his wife should know him better. I really doubt that his figure would be his burden.

The vast majority of cheaters are narcissistic, simply because cheating inherently requires a level of insecurity, need for validation, and lack of empathy that are all foundational traits of narcissistic people.
