I just moved from my parents home when we got married. It has been so unreal. The pandemic began and literally I have had to stay here alone and grieve. I am lucky to have sisters here, and my son is married but he lives ten miles away. My daughter lives in south Florida. Everyone is afraid to be together because of catching the virus.

Finally making my home my own and you inspire me! One thing I don’t bother with is makeup, I think I will once I have ordered some, plus my hair!
I had the opportunity to work with a women in her late 70s when I was in my 40s. She was in her 3rd battle with cancer. Even though she wore a wig she always looked so nice with her makeup and clothes. She told me if that was all she could do each day she would because it was her way of being grateful for another day. As a 72 year old woman, I find that I now try to make my life cozy. I'm trying to financially prepare myself for my older years by paying off any bills. We have moved into an apartment close to most of our kids and grandkids, and in walking distance to drug stores, restaurants, markets and medical, planning for the day we no longer drive, making sure we are able to be self reliant without having to call on the kids. It seems now that we mostly look toward the future in a more realistic way, and continue to get things ready. We have even paid for our burials, and have separate savings for cremation. This sounds morbid, but to us, it's comforting and cozy knowing we are getting things lined up for the inevitable. .....and now, I am going to buy a new pair of shoes :)
Hi Susan,Desi and subs.I held my new baby grandaughter yesterday.She is a month old.Because of my family having Covid I couldn't see her.My niece who lives in Denmark messaged me tonight.Im her godmother and we are very close.She had seen the new baby and me with my grandchildren.She said "here in Denmark we call grandchildren,life's desert". This hit me very profoundly.I didn't think I would be this content at my age.Single after 37 years of marriage.My niece said I look better than ever before.She said she can see the contentment.You are very right Susan,it's never too late.Goodnight on this a night with a full moon in Ireland.A beautiful blue moon.☘️

After retiring from teaching five years ago, and because I have always loved and collected antiques and vintage items, I always wanted to have a booth at an antique mall. I hesitated for four years because I truly didn't think that I could do it. But then all of sudden, even in the midst of all that is going on, I went for it when I inquired about a booth at an antique mall near me. There was a small booth available and I didn't even hesitate and signed a contract that day. My husband and I opened the booth on September 1 and it has been doing very well! I am thrilled and pleased that I achieved a goal I had talked about for years!

My spirits have been very low lately with one thing and another, but you have given me the inspiration to pick myself up. I turned 66 this past August and I can't help but think , where did the time go because I'm not ready to be in my late 60's. My biggest goal is to make sure I take care of my developmentally disabled daughter and make sure she has a safe place in this world where she will be safe and flourish after my husband and I are gone. These days it's sometimes hard not to feel anxious and worry about the future, but that's why I so enjoy seeing you and Desi every week. Sometimes it's just the simple things that make us happy.

Seeing Desi makes me want a dog just like him. I’ve had Dobermans and a Fox-terrier - all wonderful dogs and now two cats plus feeding four that come to the door. I may go to animal rescue tomorrow.

You are never too old to make a difference a kind word, taking care of people, just knowing your their for them. I get a text from a staff member the other day saying I was the best manager they’d ever had... made me blush but I look after my team. As for 2020 my remains goals are to be happy, persistent and thankful. I also want to push film making further forward.... England goes into a four week lockdown so got to remain positive. Must be wonderful to get up everyday look out of the window and have that view...

As a hospice chaplain for many years, those who have truly taught and inspired me have been many of my patients, facing death. Always because of who they are. In countless ways always because they are open to receive and offer love. Sometimes they’ve always been this way. Sometimes they grow into it in their last days. I could fill volumes with all the unique stories of how they came to be miracles of love. 💕

You have a wonderful spirit about you and it's so refreshing to escape on a Saturday for a short time and hang out with you and your darling Desi!
We're building the tracks in hope the train comes....that really hit me, and describes my life right now too! My future goals are pretty quiet, and a peaceful reflection. I was a tourist in my own state earlier this month for my birthday present to myself, and found 2 little quiet country towns I just loved!! I'm going back on my day off in November, and can't wait to get back. Something about those little towns just feels like home to me....and I was raised in a large CA city, so my drawing to the small town is something new. I've found when I follow my intuition in all aspects, it always turns out right. That would be my advice...get really in touch with your intuitive side, and follow it. Start listening to how your body, and soul react to people, places and situations. There's a reason we're drawn to certain places, situations, things and people, and just the same for things we are put off by. It's funny you mentioned your new shoes. I've been looking for brown boots for awhile now, and the styles I was seeing online didn't seem to fit. After my trip, it hit me...I want cowboy boots. Which is strange, because I don't care for country music or western style, but when I saw the boots I bought, I thought...those are it! And they fit my boho style perfectly!! Can't wait to see where they take me! Follow your intuition. Even if it doesn't make sense in the moment..it will eventually. It's never wrong. BTW...I really like your music!
One of my very favorite movies is Under the Tuscan Sun. Another one is Serendipity. An old one is Notorious, with Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman. It’s an Alfred Hitchcock movie, but a love story. Oh, and Rachel and the Stranger, with Loretta Young, William Holden and Robert Mitchum. Can you tell I’m a movie buff!? AND, you are crazy and corny, 😏but that’s why we love you! My goal is to update my home - carpet, paint, window treatment sand new bedding. I love flannel and also cotton jersey sheets. If you haven’t seen Love, Actually it’s another good one - lots of great actors in it. And also Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris is a treat. It’s like taking a little trip.

Hi Susan, I just discovered your channel about 2 months ago and have been binge watching them. I really enjoy watching them and listening to your advice. I just love little Desi, and wanted to thank you for allowing us to see him. When I was about 9 years old, I did not have a lot of friends to play with. One day, as I was playing alone outside my house, a little dog ran into my yard. I had so much fun playing with him, but my parents would not let me adopt him. He came and visited with me just about every afternoon and I enjoyed that time so much, he was the sweetest little guy, and your Desi is a twin of that little dog. Ladies, you all need to read 'Women in Sunlight", also by Francies Mayes (Under the Tuscan Sun). It is a manifesto for women of a certain age to keep on living their lives. Such a beautiful book - so inspirational!! Hearing that our 'LIttle Poet" watched Under the Tuscan sun for the first time reminded me of this novel I read two years ago. It's the life I want to and plan to live!!
Desi looked cute on the doggie sheets and he seemed to like them. At the end of the video his ears went up and down when you spoke. I get the hot flashes and not sleeping. I can no longer sleep under flannel sheets. Usually just use a regular sheet winter and summer. When the pandemic is over I’m going back to socializing and taking a trip to Paris.
I found so many times that less expensive products are just as good as the more costly alternatives, which actually makes the less expensive one better in my book! You are such a delightful person! Your videos always lift my spirits!

Your mentioning about buying shoes because they may take you to new/good places. Well, I bought some new shoes, more expensive than I usually pay for shoes, and I struggled back and forth whether or not to buy them, because of the price but also because of how awesome they looked. As if I shouldn't have awesome looking shoes!!! Well, your saying your shoes may take you to different places gave me a new perspective on my new shoes. @@lauraparson2168 Please accept my condolences. I know too well how you feel. My husband passed away in April 1999. We had been married 54 years. I’d never been alone. I just moved from my parents home when we got married. It has been so unreal. The pandemic began and literally I have had to stay here alone and grieve. I am lucky to have sisters here, and my son is married but he lives ten miles away. My daughter lives in south Florida. Everyone is afraid to be together because of catching the virus.

Thank you for making me feel positive about continuing my life as a single person! I have children and I’m divorced, several failed relationships and I decided I would rather be alone. Finally making my home my own and you inspire me! One thing I don’t bother with is makeup, I think I will once I have ordered some, plus my hair!
I had the opportunity to work with a women in her late 70s when I was in my 40s. She was in her 3rd battle with cancer. Even though she wore a wig she always looked so nice with her makeup and clothes. She told me if that was all she could do each day she would because it was her way of being grateful for another day. I am preparing to move back out west to be with someone very special. I am in my late sixties and starting over, and grateful to live near the ocean and have mountains nearby, to nurture a new love. I am very grateful to have been given this gift that I wasn't even expecting. I love your videos and you are a very welcome break away from a world in turmoil and change.

As a 72 year old woman, I find that I now try to make my life cozy. I'm trying to financially prepare myself for my older years by paying off any bills. We have moved into an apartment close to most of our kids and grandkids, and in walking distance to drug stores, restaurants, markets and medical, planning for the day we no longer drive, making sure we are able to be self reliant without having to call on the kids. It seems now that we mostly look toward the future in a more realistic way, and continue to get things ready. We have even paid for our burials, and have separate savings for cremation. This sounds morbid, but to us, it's comforting and cozy knowing we are getting things lined up for the inevitable. .....and now, I am going to buy a new pair of shoes :)
Hi Susan,Desi and subs.I held my new baby grandaughter yesterday.She is a month old.Because of my family having Covid I couldn't see her.My niece who lives in Denmark messaged me tonight.Im her godmother and we are very close.She had seen the new baby and me with my grandchildren.She said "here in Denmark we call grandchildren,life's desert". This hit me very profoundly.I didn't think I would be this content at my age.Single after 37 years of marriage.My niece said I look better than ever before.She said she can see the contentment.You are very right Susan,it's never too late.Goodnight on this a night with a full moon in Ireland.A beautiful blue moon.☘️

After retiring from teaching five years ago, and because I have always loved and collected antiques and vintage items, I always wanted to have a booth at an antique mall. I hesitated for four years because I truly didn't think that I could do it. But then all of sudden, even in the midst of all that is going on, I went for it when I inquired about a booth at an antique mall near me. There was a small booth available and I didn't even hesitate and signed a contract that day. My husband and I opened the booth on September 1 and it has been doing very well! I am thrilled and pleased that I achieved a goal I had talked about for years!

I turned 66 this past August and I can't help but think , where did the time go because I'm not ready to be in my late 60's. My biggest goal is to make sure I take care of my developmentally disabled daughter and make sure she has a safe place in this world where she will be safe and flourish after my husband and I are gone. These days it's sometimes hard not to feel anxious and worry about the future, but that's why I so enjoy seeing you and Desi every week. Sometimes it's just the simple things that make us happy.
Just loved your video! After going through divorce five years ago and recovering from a 4yr long terrible illness, I want to bring love hope and encouragement to other women who might be going through something similar. I never dreamed I'd get to the other side and feel happy again but here I am!

Well, this week I turned 60 and it hit me hard. I guess my wish is to have more courage and confidence to create a bigger life.

Seeing Desi makes me want a dog just like him. I’ve had Dobermans and a Fox-terrier - all wonderful dogs and now two cats plus feeding four that come to the door. I may go to animal rescue tomorrow.

You are never too old to make a difference a kind word, taking care of people, just knowing your their for them. I get a text from a staff member the other day saying I was the best manager they’d ever had... made me blush but I look after my team. As for 2020 my remains goals are to be happy, persistent and thankful. I also want to push film making further forward.... England goes into a four week lockdown so got to remain positive. Must be wonderful to get up everyday look out of the window and have that view...

As a hospice chaplain for many years, those who have truly taught and inspired me have been many of my patients, facing death. Always because of who they are. In countless ways always because they are open to receive and offer love. Sometimes they’ve always been this way. Sometimes they grow into it in their last days. I could fill volumes with all the unique stories of how they came to be miracles of love. 💕

I don't know how I stumbled upon your channel, I'm sure it was probably a recommendation, but I am so glad I did! I've been following you for a couple of months now. You have a wonderful spirit about you and it's so refreshing to escape on a Saturday for a short time and hang out with you and your darling Desi!
We're building the tracks in hope the train comes....that really hit me, and describes my life right now too! My future goals are pretty quiet, and a peaceful reflection. I was a tourist in my own state earlier this month for my birthday present to myself, and found 2 little quiet country towns I just loved!! I'm going back on my day off in November, and can't wait to get back. Something about those little towns just feels like home to me....and I was raised in a large CA city, so my drawing to the small town is something new.
I've found when I follow my intuition in all aspects, it always turns out right. That would be my advice...get really in touch with your intuitive side, and follow it. Start listening to how your body, and soul react to people, places and situations. There's a reason we're drawn to certain places, situations, things and people, and just the same for things we are put off by. It's funny you mentioned your new shoes. I've been looking for brown boots for awhile now, and the styles I was seeing online didn't seem to fit. After my trip, it hit me...I want cowboy boots. Which is strange, because I don't care for country music or western style, but when I saw the boots I bought, I thought...those are it! And they fit my boho style perfectly!! Can't wait to see where they take me!
Follow your intuition. Even if it doesn't make sense in the moment..it will eventually.

Hi Susan, I just discovered your channel about 2 months ago and have been binge watching them. I really enjoy watching them and listening to your advice. I just love little Desi, and wanted to thank you for allowing us to see him. When I was about 9 years old, I did not have a lot of friends to play with. One day, as I was playing alone outside my house, a little dog ran into my yard. I had so much fun playing with him, but my parents would not let me adopt him. He came and visited with me just about every afternoon and I enjoyed that time so much, he was the sweetest little guy, and your Desi is a twin of that little dog. Ladies, you all need to read 'Women in Sunlight", also by Francies Mayes (Under the Tuscan Sun). It is a manifesto for women of a certain age to keep on living their lives. Such a beautiful book - so inspirational!! Hearing that our 'LIttle Poet" watched Under the Tuscan sun for the first time reminded me of this novel I read two years ago. It's the life I want to and plan to live!!
Desi looked cute on the doggie sheets and he seemed to like them. At the end of the video his ears went up and down when you spoke.
I get the hot flashes and not sleeping. I can no longer sleep under flannel sheets. Usually just use a regular sheet winter and summer.
When the pandemic is over I’m going back to socializing and taking a trip to Paris.

Because of the loss of my hubby in November and he just had his birthday in October...it's been hard to look at life without him.

Your mentioning about buying shoes because they may take you to new/good places. Well, I bought some new shoes, more expensive than I usually pay for shoes, and I struggled back and forth whether or not to buy them, because of the price but also because of how awesome they looked. As if I shouldn't have awesome looking shoes!!! Well, your saying your shoes may take you to different places gave me a new perspective on my new shoes. You make me laugh! I love that you're new apartment is decorated the way most people decorate....with gathered treasures from friends and family. And thrift stores and garage sales! Your apartment and dog are very cute! You're very soothing for a woman 'of a certain age'. I've been divorced for 25 years and can't remember why I even married....except for the gift of my beautiful daughter...have carved my own life...some great....some not so great.
