    A BHANGRA BEAT REVISITED SPECIAL.
Featuring Amarjit Sidhu and Special Guest Kamaljit Neeru In Concert.
A big thanks to my viewers and subscribers for your support which means a lot to me and is truly appreciated.
Can I mention that we’ve just started a merch store to raise funds for future productions, here it is bhangra-beat-r...
At the moment our store only features tee shirts etc., of Surj Sahota from original Bhangra Beat video material. Let me know what you think (good or bad) and maybe the artists you would like to see featured on merch.
On this occasion we take a detour from our usual progression through the vaults of the original Bhangra Beat TV series and present to you....
The one with.... a straight hour of classic Bhangra featuring performer and impresario Amarjit Sidhu, together with his special guest the Punjabi singer and dancer Kamaljit Neeru.
The line up is further enhanced by eminent musicians and a ‘Dhol King’, Gurcharan Mall, firmly centre stage. Indeed we are delighted to feature the famed dholi in an exciting triplicate of stills on our current UA-cam banner, check it out.
Amarjit was part of the great Punjabi band Chirag Pehchan and has played a uniquely influential role in the development of UK Bhangra.
The organiser of many sold out and well remembered concerts, (the Dome, Birmingham 1991, is featured on this channel, programmes 1 and 2), Amarjit played his part in Asian Live Aid and the Asian Pop Awards.
Amarjit also managed Apna Sangeet, some of whom lend him support for this show.
''Bhangra music is the fusion of centuries old Punjabi rhythms with modern electronic sounds,'' Amarjit Sidhu.
    THE MUSIC
    WHEN IT HAPPENED
BY THE PEOPLE WHO MADE IT
    Some context:
Amarjit, as forward thinking as ever, organised this concert video for VHS and Betamax distribution in 1989 and has generously allowed our channel to feature it.
This copy has been retrieved from the original U-matic master tapes.
Interface Video Productions were commissioned to film the show. The connection, as I recall, were the music adverts that Interface were producing at the time, for the record label Multitone Savera.
That, in turn, helped to provide the Interface team with the confidence, connections, and material to produce the original ‘Bhangra Beat’ pilot, which was broadcast by the BBC circa 1990.
This led to 50 episodes of the ITV Nighttime show and, of course, this channel.
So a journey from VHS tape, to Nighttime TV and now the internet and still sounding great.
    Thanks Amarjit.
A sublime group of performers were assembled to put on a memorable concert and we are very pleased to be able to present it.
