Four weeks before last flight in 2003 - filmed roaring over my house - captures the speed. Focus improves! I climbed up on a wall - hence the crazy bit - sometimes the swirl from Concorde blew our bin lids off. After-burners can be seen. If the wind was right you could hear it start its take-off run on the ground. (August 2014 - just realized that the front wheel bay doors are closing as it comes into view) - Авто та транспорт

I love how even though it hadn't gone supersonic yet, the engines were *still* loud enough to set off the car alarm.

@@exucia669for context: engines for Fighter jets are also really loud. I had an expirience with this. when i was on crete, some F-16s flew over the place we were staying. And they were *LOUD*. So loud that i covered my ears.
This also works on Airliners, they are also loud. But not loud enough to set off a car alarm. I was standing on a taxiway when a plane was taking off:/

No matter how many times I've seen this clip, I always get a pang of anxiety when Dad is scrambling about filming the path, the table and the rubbish bins followed by huge relief when he captures that exquisite moment so perfectly.
Oh how sweet of you! My only regret is that I didn't try to get a few more film clips - but sometimes you don't know what you have until it's gone. Plus as mentioned in my blurb, I had to wear ear defenders or I couldn't have filmed this (fingers firmly in ears) - so a bit of planning was required. But, yes, so damned close to not catching it!!

A shame that the doomed air France Concorde was mostly from negligent errors by the French pilot from overloading the rear baggage compartment, over filling the taxi fuel tank at the very back, filling all the rest of the tanks to the brim. I used to work for BA at Heathrow. Every weekday morning at about 10am the BA001 would take off for New York. At take-off the sound from the reheated engines was so loud you not only heard it but felt the vibrations in your chest. It accelerated off down the runway like a giant dragster, then at the end became a white triangle floating off into the sky.
Lovely piece of spontaneous film. Yes I remember her with great affection. I lived in the oldest house in Twickenham beside the old church and on the River Thames. At 7.30 in the evening I would hear a distant low roar from miles away and the china cupboard would shake. I would always step out onto the dockside and within 15 seconds Concorde would fly directly over me heading south, her deafening roar and after burners glowing and then immediately do a turn west to line herself up with the Bristol Channel, supersonic speed and New York.
3 hrs later it touched down in New York City. Awesome.

Then you would hear the roar from Concorde's engines and feel the pressure thudding on your chest as the aircraft climbed into the sky, pouring black exhaust out behind. This feels like a video shot in 2023 made to feel shot in 2001 so much it hurts
this is the most iconic Concorde video to my family
I like how the guy who was already holding the camera perfectly is like "oh here it is, let me quickly drop and shuffle the camera in my hands for 10 seconds and nearly miss it"
What are you talking about?
@@kirkhamandy no, I very much read the description. It's called a joke but I appreciate your input.
You got to be speedy to catch a supersonic aircraft 😉☮️
I agree with creamy.. this comment is absolutely pointless
@@VampireDrip yeah lol that's why I said "nearly". He definitely got it, fantastic end result
All the people in that plane possibly don’t know that they were part of a semi viral video
At $10k a ticket they too rich to care about the activities of plebeians
It's at 69 likes so that's why I didnt like
@@aarezbanoori8296 yeah? And?
I though Concord were disbanded after the tragedy
Just like none of you know I've got a bit of a semi now just watching it. Well you do now 😏
I was sadly never alive to see one of these magnificent birds, but I imagine they were a sight to behold in their time.
I miss concorde. Thank you UA-cam recommendations.
How's the kid in the video doing now? Has he become a pro-goalkeeper?
Hahahahah, good question :D
thats JOE HART! (kidding)
ya it's joe hart
Charlie Kelly .... huh ? , I didn't say anything.
Hahah ye that's what I wondered
In 2000 if you have this kind of hairstyle you'll become a campus crush.
Now only lesbians still wear this cut. I saw one with it a few days ago.
@Thee Profit I swear to god I saw it.
@@davidbrakefield2362 😂
@@davidbrakefield2362 damn looks like you've find yourself a rare Pokemon. Have you tried catching it?
@@whitecunt6903 Theres no points for that one.
The shirt combined with the Adidas 3 stripe trackies and a gelled fringe with a scuffed up (Mitre?) football in the street. Being a teenager in the 00's feels like forever ago. Great video.
The golden era for concorde!
Concorde - basically a huge fighter jet that could carry over 100 passengers !
I WISH I could travel with it OMG 🤤💦
@@fra93ilgrande 16k
Bro it was the PEAK of civil industry
This is a reddit moment for me but it was more like an sr71 than a fighter jet. High speed, very limited turning radius, very limited gs. Still majestic
@@fra93ilgrandedeath
The way that kid goes from happy to serious is like the start of a horror film.
yes i notice that its like he see something scary or some 1 he afraid of
Osimon proberly thought shit I didn't set the car alarms off Concorde did lol
I think the neighbour is thinking the kid has set off the alarm but booting the ball against the car
Osimon idiot
16 years later, this is still such an legendary video
I remember the first time I saw Concorde, I was in a pub garden near Heathrow in the summer of 1976. It made its noisy journey overhead and everyone in the garden cheered and clapped. Wonderful! 😊
🧢🧢🧢🧢
We used to work in the city and 11am every morning (in its heyday) we used to hear it take off, so good. Shame it came to an end.
What pub?
@@Professionalfailure The Ailsa Tavern, St. Margaret's near Twickenham.
But after it crashed :(
I remember being at school as a ten year old in 76 when the first concord took off from Heathrow and the whole school went onto the sports field to watch, then 20 years later in 96, we used to watch it from the roof of a factory on the A4 Bath road ! A mere 200 metres from the runway !😮😄
Same
Andy hope all is well and you’re still kickin butt
You forgot the E and the en of concorde
Cool
@@warthunder334likechallenge5
Thanks for that, i can sleep easy again 🙄😆
OMG THATS INCREDIBLE
uncanny how strangely cinematic this is, literally feels like one of those documentary style shots from a niell blomkamp film
The kid getting camera conscious at the end is the most endearing thing! Such an innocent time, before the internet sullied our lives
Don't blame the internet. It has brought the sum total of human knowledge to the immediate reach of each and every one of us. Social media apps.... well, that's a whole 'nother discussion.
@@blujay9191 yeah, I luv, Wikipedia
@@blujay9191 All started with the internet. Great resource, but it's poison
Yet here you are.
hurr durr past was best, internet bad, amirite? Why is every video from before 2005 filled to the brim with sad boomers wearing rose coloured contacts?
When french and brits working together, they making art ;)
They had no choice. This thing was a commercial failure but they had to operate at a loss anyways to avoid paying out to treaty agreements
Yes, it can work, unusual and nice to see.
@@kishascape it wasn’t a failure in terms of engineering and at the end of the day, that’s all we look back on. No one looks back at Concorde and goes, what a money pit, we look at it as an achievement of what we managed to do, almost like the moon landing in a way, not because we need to, because we want to
@Kilo Byte still did it tho, man made a super sonic passenger jet, no matter if it’s for the rich or poor, they still did it
I would have liked to see it take off at least once :/
I have lived in this area all my life and was never really interested in Airplanes growing up. I am gutted I didn't take more notice of the Concorde, as it was an incredible piece of engineering.
I would give so much to hear this in person. Just amazing
Quiff, questionable shirt. 90's kid confirmed.
Dan Griffin 😆
That hairstyle was ‘in’ until a couple of years ago.
Early 00s as would have been 2003
Or very early 2000's, Could be 2001
not a quiff, jesus...
Man, would I love to witness a flyby from a Concorde. Great video.
The Globalists told you to ride a bicycle, and only politicians can fly in jets.
I was at the Reading Rock Festival in 1996 and Concord flew over the Festival (it may have been at a different festival that I went to in Hyde Park I forget). But it was majestic. I only ever saw her fly once, but I did. I'll never forget that moment and I was crushed when she was retired.
It would shake the fillings out of your teeth.
Great to see the first time, but the second time onwards you might think twice about living there
@@bsmythe3214 LOL YOU'RE NOT WRONG 😆
