    As someone who’s had a ureteroscopy as well as lithotripsy, I can say lithotripsy is a walk in the park. They took excellent care of me, I felt no pain afterwards and am overall very pleased with the procedure. To anyone who may require this procedure, you shouldn’t be nervous and know that you’ll be just fine!

      @@sarlamantri1293 I had many, many stones ranging from 5-12mm. And the cost can also vary. I live in America and have decent health insurance. So after my deductible was hit, the procedure was under $1000. Without insurance though, I’m sure it would’ve been much more.

    I just had this procedure today.
    You get in and go through the registration stuff and Anastasia nurses took me to the procedure room. You’ll be put on a comfortable bed where they will position you in way where they can see the stone clearly (takes couple of minutes to get to the right position) from there you’ll be sent to the other side of the world. When I woke up I was already in a room. You’ll feel a bit light headed but it will get better within 30 min. My first pee was bloody but it got lighter later in the day. Nothing to be worried about. Good luck everyone

    I had this procedure for a 9mm stone. I was asleep for it. It took me about 3 weeks to fully recover. Dr said he really had to pound my kidney because it wasn’t breaking up easily. I have passed several 2, 3, and 4mm stones over the years including this past couple weeks. I just had this done last week and was given Fentanyl at the start and still needed more during the procedure. And the noise didn’t bother me at all.

    • @petercreagh8797
      @petercreagh8797 10 місяців тому

      I was told the reason why I felt the noise uncomfortable was due to being given very little sedation due to not feeling any pain. Maybe the size and location of the stones affects how painful the lithotripsy is. My stones were never painful to begin with but would drop down into my bladder and grow!!

I found it a painless proceedure and only felt the anaesthetic effect when I got up after surgery but after an ice block and food and drink over 4 hrs I was fine to go home again. The only thing I did not like was the sound of the machine was hard on my hearing. When I go next month I will wear earmuffs and ear plugs as ear muffs alone were not enough. I had lithotripsy 7 years ago for a 5mm & 7mm stones. I passed all the fragments within a few days & it was pain level 10!!!
    I still have pain level 5 & went back to the urologist twice & got 2 more MRI's to see if there we're anymore stones but they did not find any. I'm not sure but I've heard that you can get scar tissue on your kidney after lithotripsy. I'm about 100% sure that's what I have but the doctor tried to convince me that it's back pain. I totally disagree with that. The pain I'm feeling is in the exact same spot when I first got the kidney stones. The only thing that works on this kind of pain is Percocet & I wish could get some more & I hope to someday find a doctor that will prescribe it to me.

    Can 15 mm stone break by lithotripsy??

    • @eseskay99
      @eseskay99 Рік тому +4

      Extracorporal Shockwave Lithotripsy (ESWL) can be done but you would need more than one session. I think that if it got that big, you would need the other methods. But it depends on what the stone is made of? If it was uric acid crystals, it will probably dissolve after taking Allupuranol (Gout medication). Please consult with your Doctor and make lifestyle changes after to prevent this from happening again. You will be okay. I was told that using ESWL works best if the stone is less than 10 mm in size. At the hospital I went to in Toronto, Canada, they can only give a maximum of 3000 shockwaves per appointment. The problem with your 15 mm is that it could break into many pieces that cannot pass through the Ureter. Laser lithotripsy with a stent may be the quickest and most reliable way to heal yourself. Just get it over with so that you can go on with your life. Do you know the actually dimensions of your stone? It is 15 mm by ???. A CT Scan will tell if it is a Uric Acid Stone or the more common Calcium Oxalate type. Ask your Doctor. Don't be worried, because you will be okay and there is a good side effect- you will be healed and feel much better. Then find out what you need to do with your diet to make sure it does not happen again.

First time was easy peasy cause it didnt work, no other issues other than went back second time, and this time i came out of anesthesia twice, heard and saw , and my legs hurt so i tried moving them but the nurse was restraining me, and of course the afterwards there is no sight of stone fragment which says it didnt work again.
