i actually did do the whole album lol. i recorded all the drums back in 2018 and finally just got around to uploading all of them

Good stuff dude
👏👏
how did you make the snare drum sound so good.. Did you use any compression or eq of some sort?
Oh yeah of course, there's a good amount of post processing going on in all of my recordings, especially since I'm in a small room and aren't always playing the nicest drums and cymbals, it's imperative for me to get creative with EQ's.
For this particular recording, I would have to assume the snare is getting a significant boost in the 100-200 hz range, as well as somewhere in the 2000-5000hz range for presence. I believe I used the Klanghelm MJCUjr. compressor at this time, which can be downloaded for free. (mind you, even though this video was published only 2 years ago, I did these recordings in 2017, so I might not be completely accurate, haha)
On top of that, the condenser mic positioned over the kick drum has a lot to do with getting a fat, punchy sound, so I always have a mic there whenever I can, also with a compressor, and EQ with boost around 100-200hz equipped.
Amazing bro!, you should make a video explaining how to get that snare sound, also from the mix, anyway, good video!
thanks man! i might make a video one day but i would probably just say what is already being said in this video: ua-cam.com/video/ht2JgVdHQdw/v-deo.html
I usually just tune one lug down significantly and then place some type
of weight/muffling device like a sheet, wallet etc. to get rid of some of the ugly tones that are now introduced. also, changing the tension of the snare wires is necessary. in the mix i compress it heavily and in the eq i simply get rid of mids around 500hz, and increase lows at around 100hz and highs around 5khz to get some body and also snap to the sound without the ugly tones i previously mentioned.
hope that helped
@@nickwilkinsmusic thanks man!
Cool cover, Nick! The tambourine adds nice sound.
Are you from Maryland?
