Hello, I just want to say THANK YOU for doing the BTS. I'm about to go on a family shoot tomorrow, and this is GOLD. I love how gently and naturally you directed them. Beautiful family and photos!
I love how you did your bts video. I watch many that dont let you hear the photographer's directions or the clients responses. So I appreciate that about yours.
I’m doing my first family photo shoot this Sunday and I absolutely just needed to see somebody else working with the family so I felt a little more confident in my own abilities. I’ve done several photo shoots, but no families yet! Thank you so much for your wonderful ideas and your great direction.
Love your photos! I love how you preserved the details in the background without blowing them out completely with bokeh which I love sometimes but it has become a lot of photographers whole identity, if that makes sense 😊
SO GOOD!!! I’m sure there’s a limited window of opportunity with kids. I loved the “check his nose for boogers” to get them to look at each other. Brilliant!
I found it very useful to show the edited pictures right after showing how you took them, instead of showing everything at the end of the video. Thanks a lot. Lovely photoshoot.
So beautifully crafted. A talented photographer and a loving family = a perfect match. I would love to know the aperture, shutter speeds and ISO for your favorite shoots and the kind of lens you used. I noticed in one clip you shared "50mm lens". Thank you for this information. Wishing you continued success in your photography career!
Loved this. Would you share your camera settings when you take the shots of them walking? I always miss focus with those and am confused as to where to place focus.
Place the focus on the eyes or face, make sure to keep a shutter speed of the same focal length or hight, I normally go for 200 or so, compensate for the shakes. This video was a big help for me, doing my first family photo shoot.
Love your work noticed a lot of it is with the Nikon D610. What made you choose that camera? Thinking about picking one up instead of spending a ton of money on a new mirrorless cam
Hello Brandon! Thank you for the kind words! I have only shot with Nikon professionally. It actually started with me buying and selling camera equipment. Because I was already using the Nikon system it was easy to buy and sell Nikon brand stuff (the lenses are also typically more expensive). With this I was able to stockpile some great equipment for low prices. If I hadn’t done this, I honestly would have switched to Canon-a 5D MIII most likely. From experience shooting with Sony, Nikon and Canon, I believe the Nikon glass to be the best/sharpest. I also LOVE Nikon colors over the others (they are less warm and less contrasty). But other than this, Nikon non-mirrorless cameras don’t compare to competitors. The other brands have much better video/AF capabilities. If you choose to go Nikon I would go mirrorless (with the future in mind) unless you are on a budget. 😊 P.S. The reason I have not upgraded to the d750 (which I had been seriously considering) is because of the way the screen is designed. It is nice that the screen folds up, but because of this you cannot put a full plastic screen cover over it like the d610, it would be more likely to break. I am currently saving up to go mirrorless.
So this location was set up and owned by a lady who opened it specifically for photographer to take their clients. Her goal was to eventually make the property into a wedding venue. I think a wedding or two took place in that forest area.
I'd love to transition from weddings to doing mainly family stuff. Less stress, and I just enjoy it more. I just can't figure out how to market family photography!
Definitely get on ALL those family/mom groups on facebook and your local/community groups. Post some pics of your past family sessions and you should be all set 😄
I believe it started about 2 hrs before sunset. If you are shooting under tree cover you need to start your session there and not start it too late in the day or else it will be too dark.

Impressive that you were able to get rid of the inevitable green color casting that comes with shooting in a location like this. Beautiful shots!
The parents are doing a great job directing the kids!
Super beautiful shots!!!!!

Great stuff! would love you see the ISO, Apecture and Shutter Speed as well!
Awesome! Will take this into account! Is there a specific reason you are interested in knowing these settings?
@@selenicabruce9721 I'm a new family and portrait photographer so would love to see how these are structured based on lighting and environment.
Absolutely love this and how you guided the family. Thanks for sharing! What did you use to edit the photos?
Thank you so much Ms. Terri! I use lightroom to edit all of my pictures and make my own presets.
@@selenicabruce9721 awesome do you sell you presets?
I have a shoot today similar locations what shutter speed you recommend... absolutely love your work.
I love this video. Thank you so much for sharing. Maybe I’m overstepping, but did you use a preset? Would you be willing to share?
I use my own presets!!
Hey there, I love your editing style! Any tutorials or tips ? Or recommendations on trying to find out how to Learn this style thanks x

Awesome! What camera do you use? 😊
A Nikon D610!
@@selenicabruce9721 Ok, thanks!
So beautiful! May I ask... Did you arrange the scene yourself beforehead? With the swing and the benches and everything? Looks so pretty!

@@selenicabruce9721 Love, love, LOVE this session. I tried to find this venue to no avail. Is it still available to photographers?
Dope 🔥
Which lens did you use the most?
Definitely my 35mm!
What presetts is the one you used?
Hello Wesley! I create my own presets!
I'd love to transition from weddings to doing mainly family stuff. Less stress, and I just enjoy it more. I just can't figure out how to market family photography!

How long was this session?
This was my longest session 1.5hrs :)
Hi how do you make a video and take photo at the same time?
What time of day was this shoot?
I believe it started about 2 hrs before sunset. If you are shooting under tree cover you need to start your session there and not start it too late in the day or else it will be too dark.
Awesome ness
Was this with a 24-70?
Nope! 35 and 50mm!
The couple looks like they still like each other.
Do you sell your presets ?
I can set up a zoom session with you where we make a preset based on your tastes!
Do you take a 1000 pictures during your shoot? I take about 100. Thought I took a bunch.
How were you able to let them change clothes out in the woods?
I feel like the lil girl was purposely trying to sabotage the photoshoot with those faces she was making 😅😅
Yes! 😂
Beautiful photos!!
