What is 'Dual Pol' Radar?
Dual polarization radar, often referred to as “dual pol,” emits both horizontal and vertical pulses, allowing it to collect data from two orientations. This results in a comprehensive 3D image of the atmosphere, which provides meteorologists with a more detailed and accurate depiction of precipitation, allowing for better forecasting and severe weather detection.
