This is a very straight forword episode and seeing aang learning he can't act like a airbender always.... And Iroh teaching Zuko to learn from other nations
I’ve seen this show so many times and I see new depth in it constantly. I just realized how in this episode Aang was training to hold his ground to resistance and Zuko is trying to find something to resist to prove himself yet can’t. They are such mirrors of one another.
In my opinion, Zuko has the best character arc in television history. It isn't going to play out exactly the way you may think. However, it is powerful.
Easily one of my favourite episodes - great reaction and observations. If you watch closely enough, you can draw inferences about the flaws in each nation's philosophy based on their positive traits. Positives about the Fire Nation: "The people of the Fire Nation have desire and will and the energy and drive to achieve what they want." However, their negative side is clearly evidenced in the war: they let their drive and ambition get the better of them and have imposed their will onto the rest of the world via their conquest. I'll let you reach your own conclusions about the other nations based on the content you've watched and will watch in the weeks to come.
I clocked his attitude towards her way back since ep 1 it’s really weird. Hope she branches out and starts her own channel. He’s Lowkey toxic towards her. I’m gunna keep watching for her but I cringe so bad every time he starts talking to her like that. So dismissive and haughty.
Seeing you reacting the avatar make me realize how much it is a powerfull history, i mean, i never get emotional to see zuko trying to fight the storm (first i was too young, after i already knew what happen) and reviewing how this scene talks about him got me off guard too
Pride is not the opposite of shame but its source. True humility is the only antidote for shame. Iroh has some legendary lines in this series but that is top tier even for him. Fantastic line
Theory: Toph was the one to put Sokka in the hole, and maybe even lead the Sabertooth MooseLion cub to him, knowing that the mom would follow. Sokka is actually a decent hunter. But look at the way he gets stuck in the ground. That was not quicksand. He was earthbended in, and hence needed to be earthbended out. And Toph was the only earthbender there.
Just one of the many reasons this show is so great. It will make you feel every possible emotion. It is able to effortlessly blend action, storytelling, and scenes that will have you laughing one frame, and sobbing the next. Avatar the Last Airbender is a work of art that will be enjoyed for CENTURIES. See you all in 2459 when I'm proven right.
I remember someone arguing with me for saying ATLA was the best animated series of all time. His counter was Arcane. I told him to come back after 17 years and if Arcane is even remembered then we can have a conversation. It is not yet 1 year in and Arcane is already a distant memory to most.
@Pee Buddy Arcane is fantastic, let's see if they can manage to keep it up. One of Avatar's strengths was it's continuity and build up to it's finale. I hope Arcane will be able to join Avatar as a worthy apprentice, but season 1 was fantastic.
@@Sinewmire Arcane is great for what it is but it's very forgettable. Re-watch value is pitiable. Nothing close to best animated series caliber. I've binged ATLA S1-S3 over 12 times now and I would surely be doing it again next year.
It pains me to see Iroh say that „Azula is crazy. She needs to go down!“ Dude, that’s your niece. She is fourteen and she needs help. It’s a bit jarring that Iroh who has been in the same position as Azula (daddys favorite child, gifted fighter and general, who conquers and commits war crimes in the name of his nation) doesn’t understand the position Azula finds herself in and what it does to her mental state. Iroh was willing to save Zuko from Ozai, but not Azula? It is indeed harder to save Azula because she is more under Ozai’s influence but it does not seem like he tried. They never really interacted with each other on a personal level while Azula was still a child and the one time they (indirectly) did, he was gifting her a doll. While being stereotypically fitting for girls, it was not a good gift for Azula. This indicates that he never made an effort to get to know her and what she would like as a gift. (Small detail I know, but it does have some implications.) She could been saved if any of the adults in her life except for Ozai saw what he did to her. But I guess it’s part of our society to blame the victim and not the abuser. Azula is a troubled person and she did some awful things but that does not mean that she wasn‘t a victim as well and is undeserving of help. Azula is suffering from the same abuse as Zuko. His scars might be on the outside, but hers are on the inside. Edit: The creators intended for Azula to have a redemption arc.
You don't fix psychopathy with love. Her mother gave her plenty of that, we also know /she/ knew that. Her friends are also better than her. It's hard to talk about this subject without spoilers, but I disagree with the notion that Azula could have been "fixed" if people around her hadn't written her off. The only person she doesn't give the creeps is her at least sociopathic father. Strong indicators for whats straight up inborn, incurable psychopathy.
20:05 Azusa most definitely has not done that move. Rather Irish did it to her, since at this stage he is the only person who knows how to redirect lightning, since as he mentioned he invented it.

Remember when iroh told zuko to use his breath and warm himself in the north pole? Right..... "Note how Katara kinda undermines Toph's teachings" Didn't Iroh say in the same episode mind you, that you can learn alot from other people and cultures, and then at the end of the episode "you tried the positive reinforcement didn't you" Toph: "yep it worked wonders"
Note Katara haters think they're smart.
@@DoomBowser64 Exactly. The entire point is that Aang needs both Toph and Katara to reach his full potential. There are strengths and weaknesses to each of their teaching methods, and both girls end up incorporating a little of each other’s method to help him. It’s beautifully done.
its funny Pudgey saying she knows Vegeta a tad bit yet two Vegeta action figures are behind you guys right next to the bed😂😂😂
those are all mine (Spartan). she hasn't seen DBZ properly
Sniffing his WHAT??
armpits HAHAH
Iroh could have been an amazing Avatar. And the reason the avatar helps the world is because of the avatar's journey. They learn about the problems of the world and its people.
Iroh isnt nationalist anymore. And you'll see why he is this way. And why he was able to study water bending. It all comes full circle
12:06 this is super important as they just subtly hinted at another firebending technique
15:15 yea the Samething applies to water and fire benders it for them to learn the complete opposite element.
just came across this channel, loving your reactions and thoughts!
Excellent reaction yall!! Looking forward to the next one 🙏
16:51 which game are you referring to?
Vegita screaming at the sky... I mean Zuko
These characters 👨🍳
Pudgy was right🤭
Pay attention to all the Aang Zuko parallels
Team Zuko! I hope he captures the Avatar! lol
Avatar yey...
I’ve been watching avatar reactions non stop for the past few weeks (due to the live action hype) and your reactions have quickly become one of my favorites!! Also pudgey’s laugh is so cute and infectious ☺️
haha thank you!
Zuko is Vegeta crying in the rain.
Dude, own your L's 😅
I did, given I edited this episode and the flashback 😁👍🏼
Not all animals are cross between two because Miuki was a NORMAL CAT and in the oasis was a NORMAL DOG. I apologize I just watched too much overanalyzing avatar that it has infected my keyboard to do that.
Also Bosco is just a normal bear hahah
Ohhh miuukiii 😂
@@stressyspaghetti2445 you must mean platypus bear
You guys argue the same way my girlfriend and I do lol 😂
I feel bad for ur girlfriend
🔥❤️
React to ep8 of tlou
Yeah, yeah, keep shipping Zuko and Katara.
😂
I will go down with this ship
@@liamisaac1152 I can only admire how much faith Zutara fans must have to believe so hard in something with so little evidence. Mad respect lmao
zutara forever lmao
No
"She's crazy, and she needs to go down."
The third season pretty much affirms it.
Zuko is the best character , wait till season 3, thats when he'll shine the most.
