אביו של ד"ר שמשון שטרן איבד בשואה יותר ממאה בני משפחה.
הוא היה עורך דין בפולין , תכנן בריחה מגיטו וורשה ,ניצל, עלה ארצה הקים משפחה והפך לאחד מבוני העיר תל אביב.
מידי פעם הוא היה נעלם ל"נסיעות עסקים" באירופה.
יום אחד החליט לגלות לבנו , שמשון שהיציאות האלה היו למטרת הצטרפות לקבוצת נוקמים שרדפה נאצים. . מסתבר שהיו כמה חוליות כאלה.

״ענקים מתים זקופים״ ספר שתורגם גם לאנגלית תחת השם : My Father’s Secret שהחל להמכר כעת ברחבי העולם.
