Tip for anyone finding the leves frustrating on the book step: you don't need to turn a leve in to get the list to refresh, so pick up a leve you need for a later fate, complete it, then don't accept the reward and check for the one you need on the current book. Super satisfying to get to the last book or two and have every leve already lined up to turn on. edit: to get the leve to refresh it may have to be from the same levemete, doing grand company leves might not reset general battle ones.

Maybe I’m blind/deaf or accidentally missed it, but I don’t recall any mention of what NPC sells the items to desynth in order to get the required crafting components. Might want to update this video to reflect vendor location for the desynthesis components as not every player interested in a relic might have access to market board (free trial accounts, if I remember correctly). EDIT: Figured I’d just share the info myself in case anyone’s looking for this info like I was. The vendor that sells the aged items for desynthjng into their required components is in Western Thanalan at the Silver Bazaar in the south (Merchant & Mender). Items are 3,000 Gil apiece and the desired desynth components aren’t guaranteed, so best of luck to players that either don’t have the access or desire to buy these off the market board.
I'm pissed at the RNG on this. I'm omni-90 with all crafting classes and my desynth levels are high for almost all of them, but I cannot get the "aged" items to desynth and by the time I do I will have spent enough money to just buy the damn finished crafted items off the marketboard. I don't understand...it feels like I'm doing something wrong.
@@CeresAzalia That may very well be why the recommendation is to buy the items off marketboard: to remove the RNG from the equation. I only mentioned the NPC because some relic hunters don’t have marketboard as an option. I feel your pain, however, as I experienced the same curse of RNG desynthing those items for myself too.
Another way to get the Alexandrite is through BLU's Masked Carnivale, because the first time you go through it you are rewarded with Alliance Seals that you can then exchange for Alexandrite. I think my first relic I got to just buy all of it directly
I would definitely recommend Thornmarch Extreme over Bowl of Embers if you're level 90 and can one or two-shot the moogles as soon as they spawn, realistically only WHM and SCH should be mildly annoying due to lack of big burst AoE, but even then it'll be faster than the alternatives, with runs averaging 30-50s, and the punishment for failing to get a "best case scenario" won't triple your fight duration.
I'm working my way towards getting every relic weapon from every expansion in the game and I'm a little over halfway through all the zodiac weapons. The books step is by far the grindiest ! I think playing slowly over the next month or so, and I should be able to completely finish all the zodiac weapons and on to Anima weapons XD
@@Lancun Oh, I use Eureka Anemos(for now), to gather up half a stack of poetics super quick. There is nearly no faster farm, outside of getting a farm group together to blitz Aetherochemical.
I’m a very new black mage. Did bowl of embers extreme (unrestricted party!!!) and it took like an hour and a half for the nexus weapon. Very efficient and I’d recommend 👏
A note about light farming during the Nexus step; with the rework to Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak, if you're not quite able to one shot the bosses in Aurum Vale (due to not being level 90), it serves as a great alternative due to being quite fast and also in the same 'tier' of point gains. It's still a bit slower than the Vale, though.

This is a good guide. But if you're like me and is only playing the free trial, you're probably gonna be banging your head on the wall more then usual. Because you can't use the market board, and getting the materia you need can be a nightmare. Like for me, I need the champions lance with 2 Savage Aim III materia. And there isn't a SINGAL guide out there to get the materia you need without using the market bored.
if youre able to go into the diadem on free trial you can fully meld any level of materia onto low level all jobs gear bought at a vendor (or crafted) and spiritbond extract farm. you should also get spiritbond buffs too via gc squad. unsure about free trial limitations
Guys! I have been stuck for a good long time with getting Brangwine to have her quest appear! And It turns out you need to talk with her son Ealdwine and do his blue marked quest that will then have Brangwine quest appear! Oh ARR you old piece of glue and paper.
I'm having trouble progressing from infusing lv 4 materia to lv 5 materia. Iv fused 44 heavenseye so far but none of the lv 5 materia of various stats in my inventory shows up in the map infuse list. The list only shows 1,2,3 and 4. No 5's
Book step is boring but never really bothers me, the rampant fetch quest step just before zodiac weapon step is just pure aids... why not just make people complete extreme trials for this step instead? Thats way more reasonable on both wallets and sanity

You CAN do the dungeons with stronger weapons, you just need to kill final boss with the Atma... and not forget to switch back to it like I did
Make sure you have Jalzahn soulglaze youre relic when you get to the light step. Otherwise you cant actually use then glass.

they are just for show, they have no practical use outside of glamour. so whether they're worth it or not is up to you and what you like
They used to be. But now there's obviously higher ilevel weapons in the later expansions

FATES are the worst feature thought of in any mmo ever. Why i never finished a ARR relic.
