I had a voltage bleed-over issue on a newer vehicle causing a battery draw. The electric parking brake on/off switch had corrosion on the connector. It was keeping the ABS module awake. Thank you for the extensive diagnostic process you performed on this vehicle.
Dealing with the same issue right now on a 2k Grand Cherokee, what a nightmare this has been for me. Great work my man, our job isn't just oil changes and brakes.
I have a 2000 with the 4.7L and I've already burnt through batteries just swapped my alternator after I replaced the computer (ironic eh) and after that it started doing everything this is doing the gauges aren't working yet everything is lit up except it wants to flash my running lights as well lol. Sadly I don't have the tools to do this myself and definitely no money to have an honest mechanic do it but at least I know where to go no other video showed the issues I was having this one almost fit to a tee the stalling everything. Great vid thanks
That is a super helpful video. I'm having same-ish kind of issues at the moment. Do you think its a reasonable idea to just test continuity between the PCI bus and as much as other pins I can find in the BCM or wherever? I don't have access to an oscilloscope and i'm trying to figure out why I have garbage on my PCI+, with the error code of SKIM error and j1850 communication timeout.
Mine is a 99 v8 I feel like the aftermarket pioneer radio has something to do with my gauges going whacko. I have gotten buss msg not rcvd as well and seems like I have a parasitic draw.
I’m having a similar issue with my XJ. It seems to run a drive ok and everything works but I can’t communicate with the computer. I am having weird idling issues. The car will idle smoothly for a couple of minutes then it slowly starts to creep up. I also have a parasitic draw which will flatten the battery over night. I wiggled the harness to the tps and the idle corrected itself and the check engine light came on. However, still can’t get coms with the computer. I obviously have a shirt somewhere but I’m very quickly reaching the end of my knowledge 😂
DESPERATE NEED HELP PLEASE my 2001 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo no starter ingauge with key but does ingauge when I turn parking lights on also stereo making a click now when first turn key on and stereo power up but no sound please any help would be appreciated got 9000 in motor 2500 in lift can't just give up
This was a great diagnosis! A little long winded... but solid in principle. Also... stop using dielectric grease! You said you'll use some dielectric grease or something in that connector. Dielectric grease is an INSULATOR. It's inhibits the flow of electricity. The absolute LAST thing you want in a low voltage, low current communication line is grease. A couple polish shops I do diag for throw that crap in everything. He had an intermittent no com to the front radar and couldn't figure it out. I saw the grease in there and knew right away... Throw that tube in the trash. Unless you're using it for 1990's tail light bulbs, it has no purpose in modern electronics.
Good gravy great potato 🥔’s with all the repeat 🔂 I like the fat but get to the meat 🥩 🤣 so after all that it was connecter creep messing with the skim. Deleting the skim is usually a good idea on older jeeps but I digress
I appreciate mechanics like you who troubleshoot and figure out problems, and not start swapping parts out. Very impressive, nicely done!

Thank you so much for the video, big help!
Can u send the links for the diagrams of the PCM and all that? im stuck with this problem, thanks!
I he'd the same problem we just had a lot of rain and my top connector was wet

What was the Kit Number for the kit you got from AESWAVE for the Diagnostic Junction Port?
DECS-04
Well done 👍
Awsome job,, 2 years late : ) !

Did you ever get to the bottom of it? My xj is doing the exact same thing
Thanks
I live in pocatello, my brother lives by you. Are you looking for more work? He is having some problems with a Chrysler minivan.

Dude dielectric grease is literally made for connections to make them better. Youre saying its not?
