This Spring-Summer 2021 collection translates into silhouettes a need for freedom, space and lightness. The attitude and clothing feel rebellious. A display of fuchsia, red, blue and silver, prints and fabrics, subdues the dullness. This girl is today’s incarnation of the flamboyant 80 ́s icons, from Debbie Harry to Kim Wilde.
Legs are revealed by short skirts and mini shorts, while lamé pieces respond to the appeal of spotlights, and shoulders strip to the rhythm of the strapless dresses and asymmetrical designs. Everything calls for festivity, day or night.
Looks are ever so versatile. Oversized jackets to be left at the coat check only half-conceal evening wear. For shoes, the Isabel Marant girl hesitates between boots and a pair of sandals strapped around the ankles. The ambiguity between woman and man is further enhanced by men’s silhouettes, whose colors, dazzle and proportions merge with the women’s wardrobe.
This collection is a celebration of love. So says the print signed by Los Angeles-based artist Amber Goldhammer: a profusion of multicolored graffiti hearts that blossom out all over a short-sleeved jumpsuit. Remixed by Italian artist Gabber Eleganza, Donna Summer’s anthem «I Feel Love» resounds throughout the Palais Royal.
On the garden side where the show is taking place for the first time, a bacchanal of bodies is let loose around the models. The (LA)HORDE collective, which stages and choreographs this original performance, deploys a group of dancers whose bodies express a quest of vitality and exaltation. A transformation of energies takes place, triggering movement, heat and light.
