Soma: the whole of an organism except its reproductive cells - those connected with the process of producing new life.
Gabe's a brainwashed clone. Clones in real life, while not sterile, tend to not be particularly fetile. In sci-fi, they're often outright sterile. Soma's also the name of the drug in Brave New World.
Hux does not create life, but assimilates preexisting biological material. Thus it does not reproduce per se. Hux's name itself is borrowed from Aldous Huxley, who wrote Brave New World, a book which End Transmission strongly parallels.
Whole lotta stuff going on. Chapter seriously had a lot of work put into it.
