  • Good Morning ☀️
I had a rude awakening but at least I got to watch the sunrise with my cats.
It was a quiet morning. 5:54 AM Central Time
Misty (black cat) has been more reserved due to her asthma. Usually, when I first greet the kitties in the morning, they spring to life and Darryl and Misty start play fighting (I like to think they put on a show for my amusement). In this video (around 13:16) you can see Misty start to struggle to breathe and then call off the fight.
I worry for her health. I’ve added air purifiers to the cat litter room, the sun room (where this video was filmed), and my office (where she sleeps). I’ve also maintained a more rigourous vacuuming and dusting schedule.
Some things I think may be aggravating her condition:
    1. Living room is still not finished; new drywall was added and joint tape and mud were added and sanded but it still needs a lot more sanding before it is painted. Maybe that dust is really getting to her despite my vacuuming efforts.
    2. My hair; maybe it’s the shampoo and or conditioner smells
    3. The season change; a lot more things blooming around here.
    4. The other cats; Vera sheds the most by far and Darryl goes outside. I have been keeping Darryl in more and more due to the chigger incident, and she and I are getting used to this major change (thankfully). I have been brushing Vera more rigorously too.
Besides all that, I took Misty to one vet last August, and they gave her an xray and saw no evidence for asthma, and listened to her heart and said she may have a heart murmur.
Then in April of this year I took her to a different vet and they confirmed that they heard her heart murmur. But because the initial xray provided no evidence, neither vet has prescribed her any treatment, and really they’ve never seen her have an asthma attack.
Naturally, I am frustrated. But I have an idea. I recently started filming every asthma attack. I am hoping if I have enough visual proof, I can go back to the vet who did the xray and he will finally prescribe her something. I also hope Misty won’t have to be present, as her health is so delicate and vet visits induce such stress.
I have eight videos of her attacks so far, rate of two per day. Her attacks last less than a minute.
If I can’t get this plan to work with my vet, I guess I will try one of those online vets.
