- Another video of my vintage Sansui audio setup. This time playing Pink Floyd's classic "Shine on you crazy diamond". I couldn't play the entire song as its so long, but played most of it.
Finally someone with musical taste! Am I correct that these two amps are worth around 10 thousand dollars? Stunning
Finally some real music for beautiful speakers.
Hi, both pairs of JBL speakers are 8 ohm. Together that makes it 4 ohms. The BA-5K has designated 8,4 & 2 ohm posts. So i connect both pairs to the 4 ohm speaker posts. At the end of the day, these amps are so good you can connect anything to them, even 1 ohm speakers such as Apogee Ribbons without any fuss.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I have used the BA-5K's as mono blocks in the past also and sounds awesome too. Just have to be very careful though as with well over 600 watts available per amp, you have to mindful of how much power you are pushing through the speakers, as theres not too many speakers out there that can handle that sort of power, even in the high end new stuff. Hi, yeah purchased another CA-3000. That way i can seperate the amps quickly into 2 individual setups which gives greater flexibility.
At the moment I have both amps running in stereo through one of the CA-3000's. The first amp drives the 2 pairs of JBL's, the 2nd amp the AR's. Theres also an 1800 self powered Definitive Technology Reference subwoofer hidden right back under the amp stands, which i used when i really want to turn it up!!

I would have thought there would have been plenty of CA-3000's in California. It's such a large market in the U.S, in fact I imported one of my CA-3000's from there

Oh yea thats right you can do that now i remember someone telling me that it could be done with a Mcintosh amp i was checking out one time.I hope to find me a CA 3000 pre amp for my Sansui BA 3000 power amp but its been hard to locate one.
WOW! This is the best of sansui is far as i am concerned, i see that from your last vid you got another ca 3000. By the way did you mono block the 2 ba 5000's or are you running them in stereo.

The CA-3000's are hard to find and highly sought after with Sansui collectors. Where abouts do you live? The CA-2000's are a good preamp and there's more of them about, much cheaper too, so maybe consider one of those to match your BA-3000 if you can't find the CA-3000?
I like those Fans behind the amps, thats a good idea and the chrome color makes them look like an original part of the amp.
PS - I'm sure u got the sony 400 cd changers for easy access but every sony cd player i've had sounded like crap compared to my B&O and Macintosh cd players.

I have a quick question you say that you are running 2 pairs of JBL's speakers on the of the BA 5000's i thought the amp had could only hook up 1 pair of speakers.
Where is this store? Seems like a vital piece of information.
