    I'm italian so i know euroleague basketball quite a bit, and what Luka said is obviously true. For me the Euroleague defences are tougher because the players, who are less athletic, rely more on the team and on their mind to stop the offense. It's more a 5vs5 than a 1vs1 and it makes more difficult for a player like Luka, which in NBA can outsmart regular season defense easily. Probably in the playoff there are much more similarities between Euroleague and NBA.

      While there's truth in that, it's also not set in stone. The Bucks drop coverage defensive scheme is more team oriented (which in theory would make it closer to the European style of play), yet Luka posts some of his biggest numbers against the Bucks and literally cooks them with his drives in the paint, while the Bucks are supposed to be the best in the NBA defending the paint.

    • @Lorenzo_Sartini

      @@tawadrosal-yunani well the problem of the bucks drop coverage for me is how deep lopez takes it. Many times I've seen him stay too near to the basket leaving a lot of space to Luka who can do whatever to make a basket(floaters, mid range shots, wait for the big to come closer, then pass to the cutter or to the shooter in the weak side corner or drive by him). Luka was an incredible player in Europe too, don't misunderstand me, but with some space to operate he's a killer.

      @@tawadrosal-yunani this video says that they explain why Luka is good but honestly I’d guess this is just one of the reasons, recently he dropped 48 points in the olympics against Argentina (Majority of players play euro) and I’d say that it’s because he’s smart, I like to compare it to harden cause harden is also a prime example of this, many players are very smart. However not this exact type of same split second intelligence. When he charges, when he takes the shot, when he passes etc. Many players are smart maybe smarter, but in terms of reaction, reaction works even better with being smart in the split second. NBA shines more on the beauty and technique of a shot or a charge while Luka is a smart player in both utilising he’s euro skills but also making split second decisions that aren’t just cool or lead to a scoring but that advances different options if the player misses or if Luka wants to call a specific play. Exactly like Michael, Lebron, Kobe and so many more yet unlike so many who lack it, I have high hopes for Luka :)

      I think I would try to get the ball out of his hands and I realised defenses has trended towards that more this season. Maybe similar to what the Warriors did to Harden last year when they got that surprising win. I was be hesitant to do that last year with the shooting that they had but this year with KP missing time and inconsistent shooting, I'm more willing to do that. Also, Im gonna make a video on this european defense strategy called "wall", something I think would be effective against Harden and maybe Luka as well. Not sure when I can get that out tho.
      I haven't watched a lot of Clippers or Lakers games but I see that LAC have a lot more ways of getting their stars into the sweet spot or getting mismatches. I'm skeptical about their league-leading 3P%. I think it's even higher than the 73 win season by the Warriors. If that starts to drop, their mid-range-centric shot chart and below average rates of getting to the line might start to show. As for LAL, they're having a strong start fuelled by their defense, while AD hasn't returned to form, so that's actually an encouraging sign. 👍

      Dude thanks so much for your response. I’ve become a HUGE fan of your channel ever since I found it. I watch 2-3 nba games every night so I really enjoy listening to you and learning in depth schematically. I’m pretty sure using a wall on defense against Giannis is a big reason why the Bucks got knocked out the playoffs the passed 2 years. I definitely agree with you about the Clippers hot shooting streak. I was also thinking the same thing about he Jazz. I think the Jazz are peaking at the wrong time. Though they do have a lot of guys that can score in different ways but if AD is healthy I don’t think they stand a chance against the lakers in a series. They don’t have a guy defensively to slow Lebron down and AD always seems to lock in when he’s matched up with Gobert. I think the clippers lack of a true point guard will come back to haunt them in the playoffs. I also think PG13’s injury is a lot more serious than they’re saying. Fluid build up in the bone marrow is an excellent injury that is only treated with rest for several months. Otto Porter missed the rest of the season last year when he had the same thing in his foot. I do think the Lakers got to get another big off the bench to lessen to load for aging Gasol or if he gets hurt or foul trouble in a series. Especially against the Nuggets or 76ers. Their 3 point shooting percentage this month has been very concerning to me too. Maybe it’s just something they gotta let KCP and a couple others shoot through? I just don’t understand how KCP can start the first 12 games top 3 in percentage and just fall off a cliff. Thanks again man and I really look forward to more videos. If you ever have time to respond to this I would love to hear your opinion on everything.

    • @Lorenzo_Sartini

      In FIBA rules the 3pt line is set 22,2 feet(6,75 m) like the NCAA, while in the NBA is at 23,9 feet(7,25 m) from the basket, so it's different, but not that much

    • @taepro64
      @taepro64 3 роки тому +2

      @@Lorenzo_Sartini the absence of the def 3 seconds rule and tight 3pt line makes it easier to play zone coz you can easily recover to your man while having your big man protecting the paint. So technically the slight difference on how wide the court is a big difference coz you can pass around the zone that it creates an easy open 3.

  • @elhananhardaway8728
    @elhananhardaway8728 2 роки тому +3

    This is completely wrong. He's just using footages to suit his claims. The reason why it's easier to score in NBA is purely because of the rules. It's FIBA rules vs NBA rules. FIBA has more old school rules and allows physicality. It's equivalent to 80-90s NBA basketball. You can clearly see this when NBA players struggle in international competition. If you apply NBA rules in the Euroleague, it'd be much easier for them to score as well.
    This video is total BS.

    Stepped in it. At least as far as I am concerned. How can a scorer "make up for a lack of efficiency with volume"? Taking shots away from better scoring options serves no purpose that wins basketball games. If you've got a player shooting 20% from 3 pt range, you want him to take it. Until Luka can hit that step back 3 with the efficiency of James Harden, LET him take it. That's a victory. Even if he happens to hit it, you've done your job and defended him well.

      Well, I don't think that basketball was undeveloped back then, but aside from that, it wasn't just Europeans who were getting those numbers. In fact, during the 90s it became easier for teams to acquire Americans or other non-European players and so some really dominant scorers played during that time. Even though final scores many times were quite low, like 65-60 or something like that, there were players who still had 20+ points or 10+ plus rebounds.

He's far from good but isn't that bad, for example all the attempted 3s (there were 5) in Clippers game were a last second attempt from contested position, and same with the Bucks game as 3 of those 7 attempts were a quarter last second shot (at half, at 3rd quarter, and almost full court attempt at the end), so his "real" 3pt % from that game was 1/4 more like
