I now work at a job where I can listen to audiobooks while I work and I’ve listened to the first two Dune books knowing I would listen to Dune Club after each book. Danika’s passion for this series was more than palpable after the first Dune Club and Messiah has been no different. Im so happy knowing the she fulfilled her wish of doing all six books and it why I’ll be listening to the entire series. Thank you Danika for your time and passion and passing on your love of these books to me and the internet!

I'm sort of a late Feydakin, I read the books after the Dune Clubs, but I was listening to each leasons as I advanced through the story. I read them all in spanish, so listening to the english leason brought a lot of context of some lost in translation points. Thank you for all the good work, hopefully you'll consider to do a New X-men club someday.

I felt like Paul couldn't see his son in his visions because of what Leto will become, oracles are blind the one another and Leto II goes way beyond his father. I don't think that earlier passage from Paul was suggesting that Ghanima was meant to be the one who brought about the empire that would outshine his, it was always Leto II, Paul just couldn't see him in that future and therefore believed it would be his daughter's doing.

    1) Thank you for making this series. It's nice to be able to listen and talk about this series with a fan like you.
    2) In an earlier video, you asked about the prequels and sequels by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.
It's been a few years since I read them.
    No spoilers.
First, comparing Anderson to the genius of Herbert is not fair. However.
    The six prequels:
If you know what you're getting into, it's a fun ride. In short, lower you're expectations to a bit above popcorn-action flick/book, and you'll be about right. Plot-wise, eh, they're ok. Some of the plots are genuinely interesting. A young Baron Harkonnen. Though his style does seem to have less respect for the mystical for mysticism. My guess is that mindset makes little sense to him, when I think Frank understood that perspective.
    The two sequels:
Plot-wise, I do think it is mostly loyal to what Frank intended it to be (climax, villains in general if not specifics, character actions, etc) . That may be controversial, but seriously, the *plot* builds appropriately with the themes Frank laid out, and reaches a natural end-and-balance-point to the Epic Saga of the Human Species Frank built based on the history of the Dune Universe.
The characters are... well, a bit stupider, less observant or reflective. Based on his writing style in the prequels, it's very Anderson.
Overall Plot is loyal to Frank's outline. It's not writing or a bad conclusion. But, if you lower your bar from Frank to popcorn action flick, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
If you're really, super interested in finding out *roughly* how Frank Herbert intended to end it, the sequels are worth reading. Just don't expect any of the insights, the wisdom, the learning, anything of the elevated Herbert style. Definately his plot though.

When Paul truly becomes blind because he could never see anything past Chani. She was his everything. Watching him break, but the final moment with Paul, Bijaz, and Duncan. I keep coming back to that choice. He thought he was making a choice of mercy for Chani. Comparing this scene to Chani's final moments it really makes you think about his choice to let her go. Was it really for Chani or was it Paul wanting to be done with everything. Was he tired of fighting. He had every inclination to save Chani, but he doesn't. I suppose he knows they would be subservient to the Tlilax. He couldn't let that happen. Perhaps that is why, but I expected him to take the offer much like Alia did. That conflict doesn't truly resolve and I love that.

“Our rulers, who rule our symbols, and so rule a symbolic class of life, impose their own infantilism on our instituitions, educational methods, and doctrines. This leads to maladjustment of the incoming generations which, being born into, are forced to develop under the un-natural (for man) semantic conditions imposed on them. In turn, they produce leaders afflicted with the old animalistic limitations. The vicious circle is completed; it results in a general state of human un-sanity, reflected again in our instituitions. And so it goes, on and on.”

Yeah well, i don't give a shit. Its easier on me to just get this over with all at once vs having to prolong this all fucking week and do one daily. I'm sure you'll survive. This was a major pain in the ass to download and upload and redo all the titles, descriptions,. thumbnails etc to the main page.

Why is it a burden? This way you can choose to watch this at your own pace. For me, I’m binging

      Same Daniel,
I'd recently been revisiting Dune Club and then I couldn't find the ones for Dune Club Messiah and I was worried they were lost to the internet.
The timing was interesting, because Danika downloaded these almost immediately after I had given up my search.
      Fucking Brilliant
