Love the truck content! That black truck is how I found Justmoparjoe, I was actually looking for truck videos for traction ideas for Drag Truck! "Justruck'nJoe" 👍👍
So good to be reminiscing the good old days.. and then meeting reality all over again, seeing your black truck again. It’s like playing old tunes brother Joe. By the way loved the footage of the mini burnout in the garage entrance in the video 😊 👍
I built a set of Cal Tracs for my truck ('48 dodge pickup on a '70 Fargo frame) - I flipped the axle on top of the spring to lower it and I think create a bit more leverage with the bars. I think all in i have $75.00 in these bars and can't wait to try them out. Thanks Joe for video evidence of how they work.
Thanks for this video. 7.8 in a truck with a small block is a great time in my opinion. We put a calvert 9 way on the rear of that lark. The issue was the shock in it had an insane amount of rebound and was 3' shorter so when it would lift/anti squat it would rise to fast and max out the shock and come off the ground. We are running it tomorrow. Nolan.
I'd love to find an older truck like the ones on your show. My favorite bodystyiles are the older vehicles. They are few and far between around here. Another good show. Always enjoy them.
I need feedback on the 508 stroker pickup!! LOL. That spring clamp looked kinda sad, Joe!! Nice video!! Old truck giving the slicks wrinkles!! #440 #enginejoe
Awesome video. I'm playing with a 75 d100 stock magnum 5.9 4spd od. Best time 13.87 at 98. Mph 2.02 60' times. With a snubber. Last time out I modified slappers and wheel hopped so bad I thought I broke it. Lol new motor home 440 with whiplash cam going in this spring. Truck is axle flipped and van lowers because I like the slammed look and am a corner hanger so it's still a sway bar bar truck with stiffer springs
@JustMoparJoe I've only tried drag radials so far. And the local track closed so it'll be a while before goes back. But this is always going to be a true driver so definitely keeping it simple. Definitely will look into caltracs. I like the slappers but don't like the stiff ride when preloaded. Thanks bud.
im waiting on my bottom plates to come back fron Calvert so i can see how Ole Rad will run with the caltracs on it thanks for the video Joe and im also planning on doing my shocks straight up and down like the black truck
some people dont know that Lakewood makes slapper bars for later Dodge rams . but im thinking they should also fit earlier dodge trucks as well sinse I dont think they changed much? also that 64 100 CSS dodge truck 318 was talking about had an early taction bar . I switched to heavy duty 1980s dodge d150 leaf spring on my 82 and went with polyurethane bushings front and back and stopped wheel hop
What happens to leafs. Take one out or go super soft? Or the other way and add one to stiffen it up. Then how do slapper bars affect soft and hard springs? Sorry for the crazy question. If I was your neighbor I’d bring a few beers over to get through answering my I don’t know questions lol. Great channel!!!!!
@@JustMoparJoe my 69 notch has an extra leaf. Torsion bars are up pretty high. Car is very stiff like a go cart. 235/60 all the way around. Traction is an issue even for my holly 600 having dog of a 318 71/4 rear end lol.
Damn thats a sexy look for that D100. Love the clean semi-shaved finish. How'd you do that rear bumper replacement plate? It looks glassed into the quarter pocket to hide the seam? I've been trying to figure out a few ways to delete the rear bumper but still have some kind of impact resistance, as well as hide the under side of the whole truck haha. So, on to the tech discussion... i know i know, dont roll your eyes yet! Remember I've watched near all your content so I recall a couple of videos you talk about the weight transfers etc. Your slapper bar just kept the spring vertical travel minimal while the caltrac stops axle twist. Do I have that right? Like, both demonstrations have roughly the same body travel while the tires dig down and push the body up. To be fair, I think your old setup was the better choice for my kind of application because once you put tracs on you really lose the other functions of the truck (ya know like hauling and towing.. safely).
The roll pan was actually made from a shop perlin* with a license plate mount made in. Welded at all seams and then glassed in. I do think the traction bars are a better street design, and you can remove the snubber if you want to tow, etc.
Well Joe my drag truck rear is like a car so it weight transfers properly. So rear end on top of the springs. Trucks are designed to use torque to lift the box load and push it thus rear axle below the springs. Cars on top so it transfers weight from the front to the rear. A b body rear end is 4" narrower and bolts in nicely. Dodge boxes are all the same from countless years so get a stock wheel house and extend it. Thus big tire truck. I have done this several times now and I call this hot mess the poor man's drag truck. It just works stay tuned for my 79 build
Awesome truck I have a 75D 100 short bet that I’m working on. I always heard that mopars didn’t really need traction bars because the leaf springs were moved forward and all you had to do was clamp down the front a little more or am I wrong?? Thanks, great video.
I think a c body would work well under there. May have to move the perches and find the right offset wheels. I know several trucks came with 8 3/4’s as well. I’d say mostly pre 75 models from what I’ve encountered

Sounds great! Good luck buddy!
I'm definitely a believer in the Cal Trac setup. What a cool truck Joe! I'm sure it's cool to see it out there still tearin' up tracks.
Right on T’!
Awesome thanks a bunch gives me a lot of good ideas
Thanks for the support

Definitely getting more rare
I would imagine That's pretty cool seeing your old vehicles still wearing your ideas. Your old truck is really hookin up good. Thanks brother.😊
For sure! He’s got it sorted out now
I had 1980 d 150 sport i sold last year look just like your truck factory hud cap.. now i wish i had it back so could put the 440 in it.
I put CalTracks on my 78 D150 with a 499ci low deck and a trans braked 727. They worked great.
Excellent! Really slick design

Good stuff! I had to preload my ladder bars and go with slicks to get it to not axle hop over the moon

I always liked that truck I still can't believe you sold it!
High school is over 😂

Thanks Jeff

Absolutely!
That is my favorite body style of dodge trucks.
Thats a sharp looking D100,,,i have a 77 6ft fleet side....im currently working on
Excellent! Love the 70’s trucks
This is really good stuff . I really like Dodge trucks . Good luck at the NNN . My money is on you !
Fingers crossed! Thanks for everything!
Great looking truck!
I think so too!
I love dodge trucks, watching this makes me miss my 78LRT
Thanks for sharing!
That's a sharp truck! Did you buy that clean 80's truck a few videos back?
Yes sir! I will do a quick flip on it as soon as I can. Make it nicer for the next guy. Glass, some paint, interior stuff.
Nice setup for those trucks.
I think so too!
Cool truck!👍
Thanks Mitch!

I took the overload out when I had the truck, and added some longer shackles. I’d imagine softer springs flex more for the slap 👋

Absolutely! Those are good guys
I love this info!!

Looks like it leaves good to me.
Fast train!
Bad ass truck ,What is the kind of carb on that ghost ?
I think he has a brawler. I would buy an AED. Check out my recent video
Nice truck. Do you ever regret selling your engines and vehicles? That truck runs good 👍😊.
I had so many, that some had to go. Kinda feels like the end of an era and start of a new one.

I clamped these and it helped, but would axle hop pretty badly before I added my old slapper bars.
Hello joe What is the best time in the quarter mile?i can’t wait to test my old truck in the drag race
I’m not sure. Our closest 1/4 mile was Memphis. They closed it down recently 😵💫
do the trucks share an axle housing with any mopar cars? as i want to put an 8 3/4 under it.

Any chance you know what those caltrac bars are specifically for looking to get a set for my 1978 d100
I’ll check and see.
Any word I’m curious I want a set for my 84 they don’t offer a kit on the sight for these trucks
.
Can't go wrong with Dodge trucks.
For sure!

What are the 60's?
Can you give me a time stamp in the video? I rewatched it and never head 60’s. I said 4.56’s one time
@JustMoparJoe I meant 60' times sorry. Basically I was asking what the difference in 60's were between the slapper bars and cal tracs.
😅
