You were there!!! I’m so jealous. I was only 13 at the time didn’t have any idea who these guys were. I discovered them in 2022 and haven’t stopped listening since
I've loved James Mercer's voice ever since I heard "New Slang" during a long car trip to nowhere years and years ago, and there's nothing Danger Mouse has produced that I didn't like. Somehow this slipped under my radar, but I'm loving it now.
This song really shaped my attitude on life during stressful/worrisome times. No matter what goes on in your life, you have this beautiful “perfect world”. It might not seem perfect sometimes, but your attitude can turn it into something greater…
Danger Mouse also dj’s, mixes, plays bass, piano, synths & drums, writes lyrics, has produced a number of multimillion/selling artists & albums, but I’m sure he appreciates the compliment
We look for exit signs, but we cant be, changed into Nothing, overnight. Death is not an escape from the suffering of life. There is no escape. And its okay. Its okay to be alive and suffering.
It only took me six years to discover how awesome this band was. A more traditional stage setup would have benefited them much better. Lead singer must be in the audience's face, front center. Don't hide the instruments behind props.
the keyboarder looked like Richard Swift. that would make sense, because Richard Swift has the same hairstyle, hair color, beard, complexion, body type, AND plays keyboard for the shins, which James Mercer is in, but, that is not Richard Swift. Frickin confusing.
The crowd have no idea of what they are watching or hearing, That is what makes this band unique, I bet when they got home, they could not get the tune out of their heads. BROKEN BELLS DIFFERENT LEVEL, compared to today's rubbish.
3 years later and I still can't find any info on who that guitarist is. The drummer's name is Jon I think, but the bassist looks a lot like Joseph Gordon-Levitt from Third Rock From The Sun and later the awful third Nolan Batman movie.
James Mercer (with Brian Burton’s help) is arguably one of the best song writers of today. Their songs are really awesome musically and lyrically.
Love that intro and chorus! James Mercer is a songwriting genius!
One of my favourite bands ever.
They sound really strong live. The drummer and bassist sound really tight too!
Really worth going to. Would go again.

I love the feeling this song gives.

So clean. Cant wait to see em 10/28/14 in SF! The day after my Bday...perfect :)
I think these guys are the second best live band ive heard. Right below muse in my opinion. They still are one of my favorite bands ever though

I love the shins, but I'm relatively new to broken bells. but ey, its James Mercer
The drum's sound very clean
Love the lyrics
Underrated band.
I love them
James Mercer is essentially indie rock's Bruce Springsteen.
Brandon Dube Springsteen sucks balls
@@Boshunz Yours?
Why insult the guy?! He’s good. Springsteen is… Meh.
please make more music
Brilliant live, end of
You play a killer keyboard afro man

It's for esthetics I think
Letterman really gave his audience a trait
awesome performance guys...better than the album

+Miles Lewis That guy on the keyboard is Brian Burton, the only other member of this band...
god this audience is freakin' dead

I'm not feeling that back-up singer, I think Mercer would've been better off without him. Great to see Broken Bells be regulars on the Letterman show.
Awesome song!! But, as a bassist myself I wish the bassist did a different style then that palm mute clicking sound he's doing. It's killing me! Lol

christ, whats wrong with this 'crowd'???
They aren't allowed to be rowdy. Its being filmed for TV so they are supposed to stay very calm and quiet. Its not their fault.
The song should end after the guitar solo. Excellent song nonetheless
My god.... talk about underrated.
