I spent the whole five minutes counting and I played 25 out of the 48. The rest not very well known games, even in the UK. Wheelie, Skool Daze and Manic Miner being the stars of the show, Saboteur was very good as well. I am tempted to get one and compare that to how realistic it feels for the keyboard, but the thing about the ZX Spectrum was that it kept your lap warm in Winter.
As someone in the US who's never heard of the Spectrum or ZX prior, im actually excited for this one. I just ordered it for the Storytelling, Isotopic Adventure, and Marble type games. These titles seem like what this hybrid would excel at in drawing in new players/programmers in this modern landscape. Thanks for the great video as always!
Try 3D games which is an area where the ZX Spectrum really shines. CPU speed is of the essence and the lack of sprites and hardware support for scrolling does not matter. Elite e.g. runs more smoothly than the C64 version. Starion, Starstrike 1 and 2 and Carrier Command are very good showcases of what a ZX Spectrum can do. And there is more...
@@CrazyBurger Right off the bat I remenmber Starglider 1 and 2, Glass has some insanely fast 3D sections where solid, shaded culumns with reflections below are thrown at you, Savage is a great game overall with impressive 3D parts. Codename Mat 1 and 2 are pretty good as far as I have heared. Games with the Freescape engine run best on the Speccy when it comes to 8-bit-computers: Driller, Dark Side, Eclipse, Castle Master and The Crypt. Chase HQ and WEC Le Mans are impressive racers. Drift and Northern Lights are excellent driving simulations that were created just some years ago. Just to get you startet.
@@CrazyBurger And finally, after thinking about it for a short while, there are three more 3D ZX Spectrum games worth mentioning: I, of the Mask - By Steven Turner (IIRC) who said it was more of a technical gimmick than an actual game. But it is very impressive nonetheless. And a very recent coding miracle: BORSCH 128K which can be found here on UA-cam. A Quake-like game on the ZX Spectrum with 3.5 MHz. Amazing! Finally from Zosya there is "The Dark" which is another Doom-like game with solid 3D graphics.
O.M.G. Horace Goes Skiing. Personal lost media for 25 years as I have a vague memory of playing it way back in the day but all the Atari, Coleco, Intellivision, etc similar games just never felt 'there". This is the game!!!!!!! Not a lot of Canadians had a Spectrum back in the day so that explains why I've had such a hard time finding it.

So to fit that many games in less time..., imagine the hour long version on fast-forward. 😉 And on the show they had that tune running to silly fast video footage. That's the only link I was trying to make, fast, quick and that tune. 👍 Yeah my dad always watched it, it wasn't my bag. I preferred Kenny Everett and Lenny Henry. 🙂

True, but that would push the costs up. They have a Gamepad that will be fine for most. I think The Joystick will be happening next year. You can always purchase an alternative but sadly most are not great.
I don’t think you can delete, but if it’s like The C64 you can totally put games on usb and load them. I got one of those super small ones so it doesn’t stick out and that works great.
Can someone tell me if they think it's worth getting one of these? I'm very intrigued, don't think I've played any of these games but I'm really interested in retro lately and would like to get a retro console! Also are all the games playable on the keyboard? Probably a silly question but I'm not sure. Also does this console have save states? Thanks for any info!
If it follows the C64 & Amiga mini which they also made, each game including ones you add will have 4 save state slots. Most Spectrum games generally support keyboard controls as the original never had joystick ports built-in. The Amiga mini pad & the Atari 400 mini stick should also work. If you want a Retro console that is multi platform take a look at the Evercade VS-R or EXP-R.

12 from 48 games isn't a great selection but I think you can delete and add your own in and play off a usb stick
